Parallels is a wonderful collection of random essays on just the random things that we might see around us... anything! V S Sury has reflected upon the things that he must see and observe around and beyond him and he has tried to establish a link between some of them. Though the idea and the cause behind the book are very wonderful and vast, to the readers, not all of these things may appeal... while I could finish a few chapters with deep interest, I had to skip some of those just after the second paragraph... so, it's a mix bag that takes you to wonderlands!
This was just in line with the fictional books written by Mr Sury, the eccentric author who pursues a very different line compared to authors. Just enjoy this book and ask no more! You will find many interesting chapters and pages to remember for many days after you finish the book.
This book has concerns all around. The author discusses various ideas related to many things that we may see around us all the time. He goes back to Hindu epics and brings examples and concerns from there for the readers. A nice, peculiar and innovative non-fiction that will keep the readers concerned and indulged.
Another book by Mr Sury which is beyond the ordinary comprehension of a common reader... like often and the usual, Parallels is all about ramblings of an intellectual mind weighing things, ideas, concepts, science, nature, philosophy and so on... the author does not stop and he goes on unless he has written a book. You can close your eyes and pick a random page to read and you will find that full of ideas you can enjoy.
Parallels is a work that is entirely depending on the moods of the readers who are going to read it. A reader in a good mood will go through the entire book searching for the right kind of balance in internal and external world. However, when the readers is not in good mood, he or she might not connect with the thoughts of the author and the book may be set aside instantly... V S Sury has written passionately and he is serious when he says that everything has some parallels in the world around us and he tries to prove the same vehemently.
Sury's book is more philosophical than its normal. It takes on the issues that we most conveniently ignore. He talks about general incidents of nature around us that we tend to ignore. Why does this happen and why does that work in a particular way... followed by explanations and thoughts inspired by our ancient texts and author's personal thoughts. You will love reading this random book once you bump into this by chance or knowingly!
#Parallels by V.S Sury is a different book, talking about various aspects of the world, the Universe. The author discusses 36 various topics and tells about various energies, theories and more. . I liked how the author parallelly related to the things, the scenarios that we face in our daily lives. It took me some more time to connect with the book as it's a bit difficult and different. The author explained the meanings of various words and their importance. It's a blend of spirituality and philosophy. . Concepts like Orbits, Opposites Attract, combinations, Breathing, Randomness, the three acts and many more are explained by the author in an intriguing way. This book has depth and so many things to learn. . It's a heavy read with a unique writing style. At some point, I was clueless about what was happening in the book. It has no flow. Yes, which makes it difficult for the reader to connect. . It's a different read. There were a few chapters which I really liked, while some, I found it difficult to connect to. Few chapters I read and reread to understand. . However we many odds, it's an interesting book with several lessons. You'll discover a lot. . Read it one page at a time, understand and execute it. Love reading about spirituality and philosophy? Or want to read something different and intense? This is the book. Go for it.
This book is a deep philosophical non fiction about the different parallels in life. It's consists of conflicting ideas yet the similarity in the same. There are many parallels that we see in our day to day life and also represent as a community. Each chapter talks about these random ideas. The language can be a little difficult to understand but the author has tried to simplify his ideas. Some chapters were extremely interesting while some were difficult for me to comprehend. If you like mind boggling books that make you think, this one is for you! . “The phenomena and events which occur (incessantly) in Nature are countless. But on careful observation, we can notice that some forms of common threads run across different platforms or fields. These fascinating parallels can be found amidst the world of human affairs also, apart from the natural, scientific laws and theories.”
Parallels by Sury V S is non-fiction. However, despite being non-fiction it will never let you feel bore. The author holds a good writing skill that will be surely loved by the readers. The book is all about the fundamental principles and a set of questions about its. The beautiful things in nature that occur every day and still remains unquestioned or don't inspire us to go deep into it to know the cause. The author has focused on these issues and crafted a wonderful book. I would like to recommend to everyone who is interested in reading serious books. You really need to read this book to take a break from reading casual romantic fiction.
When I read this book, I thought it better be a title that inspires me to think out of the box... it did but that was a little more than what I might have expected to be frank. V S Sury makes you think about the possible reflections of things around you and find the similarities. However, at times, things go a little weird and you will be amused, surprised or even baffled to see the level of expertise of the author in other things than what you may have expected... he talks about science, philosophy and spirituality in the same breath...
Parallels by V S Sury is his first attempt at writing non-fiction and you can say, after reading the book, that it has been a fruitful effort as the book has become something which readers will find interesting in many ways. Philosophy has intercepted science and the results have mostly been wonderful as far as reading experience is concerned. I would share this book with all those who have an eye for the different.
This was a very riveting read for me. It was about 320 pages and I did not know what to expect after each page was over. The writing style is very engaging and from the introduction I was hooked. When I read in the first few pages that the author thinks the embrace of the DNA helix represents love, support and inseparablility, I knew this book has surprises. The chronological order of the book makes the reading a very smooth flowing experience. I wish I had a paperback as I read it on the kindle. The information that the book throws at it's readers is humongous but it doesn't feel so heavy once you sit with the book for a while. It was a very different read and I appreciate the effort put behind it. Cycles Galore was a unique chapter and the concept of infinity put there blew my mind.
This book keeps you engaged in a very unusual manner that you seldom find in the books written by Indian authors. And surprisingly, this is a non-fiction title. I really liked the randomness that lingers throughout the text. Do read it for the best of yourself only.
Parallels is all about being analytical and looking for the blueprints of things around us. The author has been very keen in observing how things around us exist and work. He has discussed some of the very well-known things and looked for the parallels of those from our very surroundings. The book will certainly interest you if you have an interest in philosophy and deeper thoughts in life rather than enjoying entertaining pieces. All the best!
Our life is a circle you can bend it but at the end, you will reach the same destination. All the things and the phenomenon of nature are related to us somehow. It is nice to read a book that has been written by a matured person who has seen the world with more clarity. There is a reflection of his experience in the book. It is not a kind of book that will just give you monetary pleasure as all the contemporary book do. It will give you a life lesson that will always help you in refining your thought process.
V S Sury's book is a book that will open the readers to very new chains of thoughts and a reader will be compelled to think the things that the author must have thought in the process of writing this book. There are many interesting things in the book that one can wonder how could someone go so minute with thoughts! You need to read it to understand what I may be saying.
I enjoyed reading this book... the various emotions and colours of life have come alive in this book by V S Sury and he has been at a random hunt for things that we know and things that we don't know. Enjoy reading this book that tries to connect the dots of various things around us.
This is one of those different books that you enjoy reading out of the blue and pursue till the end. Enjoy it without looking for explanations and once you finish, you will perhaps understand what the author wanted to convey. All the best!
You will rarely see these kinds of serious books in the contemporary period of writings. The author has explored a vast theme that may not attract many readers but it will surely set to be the best amount the ordinary best selling books. The author is old and mature enough to talks on these things. A wonderful book that has talked about the abstract realities of life and nature. Nature is an objective reality and we can not ignore it. We should learn to enjoy the different sheds of nature. Kudos to the author for writing such a beautiful book.
This is a book that unfolds and shuts and then unfolds again and again. I admire the courage of the author because he takes up the issues and discusses those which no other author might have risked doing. V S Sury's writing is known for being multi-dimensional and he has not left that quality home even here. This non-fiction title is loaded with multi-faceted qualities like science, philosophy and psychology.
Sur V S' book is a nice scrap book of ideas which are in a flux that seldom stops... I began reading the book and did not stop until I finished it because of an urge to dive deep into that randomness and know more about the author's way of thinking. This is a non-fiction book which is unconventionally interesting and it excites you as you read more and more.
‘Parallels’ by VS Sury is about various ideas related to things differently that we see around us like environment, ideas, concepts, science, Nature, philosophy, etc... So it’s a non-fiction type. Lots of thoughts expressed either from professional or personal which might make readers think differently. It’s simple and lucid writings with a bit of a mixture of Philosophy but more towards Nature. Things observed from different perspectives and correlate with each other make interesting and informative. So, ‘Parallels’ is a must-read for everyone.
With 35 chapters about random things that surround us, the author has penned down random thoughts in the form of essays. This non-fiction attempt is a great way of delivering a different perspective about stuff we may never think about in a deeper sense.
I loved the way the author has written the book. It is very lucid and direct to read and do a little mind-storming. He connects the things he talks about with the Hindu epics and legends.
Who is big fan of comics ? Meeee. Who loves the idea of multi-verses? Again, Meeee. If you give a girl who likes different ideas about the world and how everything works, how much is she going to love it? Aaaaa lot. We have all heard about and also learnt about how everything came about in the world. How the big bang happened and slowly the world as we know of it now, came into existence. Now think of something else, like the fact that small families made up counties, then cities and then states which were followed by nations. These great nations finally made the world and are just a small part of the universe. So many things to know, so many places to go and not enough time and mind you I am talking about pre or post lockdown, but your mind isn't tethered to anything. Grab this one a give it a try, it's bound to blow your mind. One key line in the book that made a major mark in my mind is how gravity is the ultimate unifier, like death it's the same for all living beings on one hand but it works for non living things as well so it has a bigger reach than death.
This is one of the wonderful books I have read. It has complied important things in one place. The intellect and wisdom of the author are simply amazing. From the creation of the universe to life as a drama the author has constantly pushed his intelligence to take these things in a different way. It is a wonderful read and pushed to take things differently. There is too much in this world to enjoy. We need only those beautiful pairs of eyes. A must-have book that you should read!
Mr Sury's book is certainly one of those philosophical reads that you somehow continue before liking it and finishing it to the end. i liked the idea of trying to find the equivalents in the world around us. Bizarre but somewhat striking and you just cannot ignore it once you get to the halfway.
This is a book where you will see an unacknowledged philosopher mastering almost everything from atomic fusion to spiritual confusions. You can read this book as something which comes to you for no reason but you find it beautiful. V S Sury has written a few chapters very effectively and he will compel you to think.
The book 'Parallels' by Sury V.S is an outstanding piece of work. It is a perfect blend of deep-rooted philosophical of India and the simplicity of nature. It has tried to show the other sides of many things that we often use to ignore. I am really impressed by the simplicity of the book and the way it has explored the higher meaning of life.
This is a book that you need to consume... anyway you want. It does not have a beginning or the end if you leave out the preface or the introduction thing. So, just get a copy and begin reading to whatever direction you want. You will like it, most likely.
Anything around us, living on non-living, is connected in this or that way. Likewise, anything that happens around us also connects with each other in various possible ways and the author, in this book, is looking for that very parallels. You will get to know about interesting ideas and things that you might never have thought. So, brace yourself with another unusual masterpiece from the author of Jestus and Jestus on Rampage...
