Paul Milton, a dynamic young vicar, is successful at bringing folk back to the Church. Fresh from a South London triumph, he and his wife Sarah, an emotionally fragile English rose, head north to a new rural appointment.

However, the position is not what they expect. Soon after their arrival, Sarah becomes distant and oddly changed. Paul finds himself caught in a war between Olwen - a Celtic sorceress - and Julius Dodds, the church’s implacable troubleshooter. Under pressure from both sides, Paul suffers a crisis of faith.

As the ancient ritual of All Saints’ Eve approaches, Sarah disappears and Paul has to battle against Olwen and Dodds to save his wife from a fate too terrible to contemplate.

The Gatekeeper: by Ian and Rosi Taylor

Paul Milton, a young priest, who has made a name for himself within the church as a dynamic game-changer, is sent from his thriving London Parish to a small village in the North of England. Attendance there has fallen by the wayside, and his goal is to try and build a thriving parish community in Low Moor like he achieved in London.

On his arrival, he soon realises that there are many more factors at play than he could ever begin to imagine. He learns of his predecessors who have either died or been driven crazy and of Julius Dodds, the church’s troubleshooter, who seems to be hiding a lot more than he is prepared to divulge to Paul.

When Paul’s wife, Sarah cycles to the next village, Walden, and befriends Olwen, a Celtic sorceress able to change her appearance at will, things go from bad to worse. As Sarah grows more and more distant from her husband, Dodd’s army of monks are armed with crossbows, villagers are murdered and Hallows Eve draws near, Paul must discover the secret in the old Church of Walden or he could lose his wife forever.
