Aftermath: When It Felt Like Life Was Over

Rate this book
For years, Alec Klein investigated cases where people faced the nightmare of wrongful accusations. Suddenly, he found himself on the other side, falsely accused himself. In a coordinated media attack, he was accused of misconduct as a professor at a top U.S. university, and in a rush to judgment, before he had a chance to defend himself, his life was destroyed. What happens when you have little hope? In the aftermath, Alec gravitated to the unlikeliest of places, among the unlikeliest of people, doing the unlikeliest of things. This is a first-person true story about faith, forgiveness and redemption.

Alec Klein is a superb writer with a riveting story to tell: His personal transformation after his career and the life he'd built came to an abrupt end. In his page-turning memoir, Alec writes with passion and power, candor and compassion, heartache and humor about his journey to create a new life for himself from the depths of despair. "Aftermath" is a must-read for memoir fans, as well as anyone concerned about the excesses of Title IX on college campuses today. It will make you laugh and make you cry. Ultimately, it will fill you with hope.

Aftermath

Book was ehh, not keeping in rotation for reread or as reference. More about religion and self serving statements regarding his work.

A sad tale of "redemption" from a predator. Surprised more of those who have records of his predatory behavior haven't called attention to this, but this is a deceitful predator who is sadly trying to save arse with false religion, self-righteous statements, and a "do-good" mask to deceive those who fall prey to this sorry excuse for a cover-up. Sorry, doesn't change the truth of your sad existence, and those who can see clearly cannot be fooled. Buy this book and support a predator trying to save face for his disgusting actions.

Very well written, but ultimately I was not drawn in to the author’s transition and conversion.
