A collection of stirring poems that candidly explore lives of saints, fascinating characters, and events in the Bible while expressing an unwavering faith in the mercy and love of our Savior. "Caravaggio's Calling of Saint Matthew," "Zacchaeus," "Bartimaeus," "Herod's Lament," "Rembrandt's Return of the Prodigal Son," "Our Lady of Guadalupe", and many more.
I first heard of Ms. Simmonds through her contributions to Magnificat. And I was so happy to see that this collection contained one of my favorite poems of hers: "The Least."
As for the rest of the collection, some of these poems were REALLY good, and others were just so-so. So, we'll cap this review at a solid 3 of 5. I liked it, but I wouldn't say that I really liked it. But, even so, there are some truly beautiful pieces here, and I recommend this collection to any Christians (Catholics especially) who are interested in poetry.
