This was supposed to be our happily ever after. We beat our enemies, fended off an invasion of monsters, and returned home safe. For the past year, the love of my life and the four guys who’ve also become her consorts have been settling into a new, much more peaceful normal.
Me? I can’t take it that easy. In the final battle, the fiend we faced off against left a scar I can’t ignore. It’s come with the unshakeable memories of the pain we all went through and how much we lost… and possibly more than that. As the mark’s unearthly energy starts to leak out, I’m finding ways to wield it.
Rose deserves a guy who can offer more than a broken childhood and a small-time criminal history. I’d give anything to make something magical out of the wounds I’ve been dealt. But the demons never give without taking in return. Can I master the power they left me with before it masters me instead?
*Mark of Damon is a 135-page novella and the sixth book in the Witch’s Consorts series, told mainly from Damon’s point of view. Reunite with Rose and her guys as they confront one final supernatural threat and discover exactly what kind of family they’re going to be.*
Eva Chase lives in Canada with her family. She loves stories both swoony and supernatural, and strong women and the men who appreciate them. You can visit her online at www.evachase.com.
Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion. Warning: Do not read this novella if you haven't finished the series. The Witch's Consorts is the first series that I read by Eva Chase and it's what really got my obsession with reverse harem started. I loved the series and I was so happy that Eva surprised readers with a follow-up novella. Mark of Damon starts a year after the events in the series, it's still from multiple povs but this time the story centers on Damon instead of Rose. Damon is the classic bad boy, illegal activities, bad attitude, huge chip on his shoulder but wants to be better for his girl. I didn't like Damon at first but then he started to grow on me and it was interesting seeing more from his point of view. This novella surprised me because I was expecting happier times but that's not what's happening Rose and the guys are dealing with some PTSD issues from all the things that happened with the Witching Society and Damon is contending with the mark he got from the demon that was summoned. Damon already had a chip on his shoulder but with the mark's influence, things were getting worse. Without giving anything away, I was happy the ending and seeing certain issues work themselves out. Mark of Damon was a pretty good length for a novella, it tied into the original story very well and we do get a happy ending. There is action, drama, and steam, I was very entertained by this story, I loved seeing everyone again. If you liked the series then I would suggest you grab this one.
This story was both great to read and not so great to read. I was excited to get more of Rose and her guys, but you know how it is when you have a HEA and then the other shoe drops. It was kind of disappointing to find out that HEAs are not always without problems. Silly, right? I know.
Damon was wounded by the demon during the final battle and now it seems that the mark that was left is causing him to have feelings that unsettle him. Feelings of inadequacy when around Rose and the other consorts. Feeling that he is not good enough for her and the rest of the guys know it and look down on him because of it. Then strange things start happening. It seems he can manipulate things magically. He knows he should go to Rose and tell her what is going on, but yeah, those feelings. Will he come clean and enlist the help of the others??
I was given a copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
This novella was all shades of awesome! I loved the multi point of views. Damon is an interesting character that has always skirted the fence between goodness and owning the bad boy rep. He loved Rose so much that no matter his actions he acted with her well-being in mind. It was entertaining to see him shed his past hangups and totally embrace the group. He is such a valued member. I loved seeing each of the guys moving forward and making peace with their pasts. They each had traumas and seeing them choose happiness was fantastic! Eva Chase sets the stage for a second generation series and that's a very exciting possibility!! This is the perfect ending to one unputdownable series and will give you all those delicious feels!
This was a cute little revisit into the world that we all, by now, know and love. We get to catch up with Rose and her guys a year after the series ends and see how their lives are going and how their experiences are still affecting them (which I liked that it wasn’t all sunshine and roses even a year on – it made it more realistic). It wasn’t just filler though – there was a little subplot that drove the novella and kept it interesting. And it had everything you can expect from an Eva Chase book – a little steam, a little magic, and nice, simple writing that flows easily. A perfect little addition to the series.
I thought this was a good story and addition to the series. The character is really Damon but every else is present. It was a little darker then usual bit he series was a bit dark and not all roses either. But it was great t check in with everyone and see how they are coping after the end of the last book in the official series. That pesky demon mark is causing issues but they overcome it as expected but the journey was fun to read about. Just a good story. Was well written and kept me reading to the end.
In this novella at the end of the series we finish off some unfinished business as Rose and her Consorts settle into their normal lives and Damon resolves issues that have hung around since the battle with the demons in book 5 of the series.
This was a lovely surprise at the end of the series. It was great to see Damon working through some of the unfinished business from the series and finally finding peace. A lovely surprise at the end which you will love. Well written and very easy to read, this was a great bonus at the end of the series.
A great addition to the Witch's Consorts series. Damon has always struggled to feel he fits into the group, and he doesn't want to make more trouble for Rose, after she and the others in their group, have been put through so much already. Although darkness seems to be creeping into his thoughts more, and he wants to solve the problem, but can he solve it alone? I loved this interesting peak into what's been happening since the last book, and new challenges they have faced. It was great seeing it a bit more from Damon's POV (although we get some other POV's too).
Mark of Damon (Novella) (The Witch’s Consorts Book 6)
Mark of Damon (Novella) (The Witch’s Consorts Book 6) ~~ Shorter but oh-so-important, this novella focuses on Damon’s perspective, giving us the backstory and depth that ties the series together. It answers lingering questions while showing just how far Rose’s influence has reached. It felt like a bonus treat after the whirlwind of the main series — more intimate, more personal, and the perfect capstone to their journey. A must-read for fans who want the full picture and an emotional goodbye.
I really enjoyed this novella, though I shouldn't have been so suprised by that. I do think this is an essential piece to the story even though it's set about a year after the end of the last book in the main story arch. I loved that most of the chapters were from the guys POV and we really get a great extra piece of the story and some resolution. If you're on the fence about reading this one, give it a try - I'm glad I did!
Aww, loved that happy ending. And, the entire novella was so thrilling. I kept thinking what was going to happen. Then, at last we had the desired sweet ending. It's sad that their story is over, but I loved all the main characters - Rose, Kyler, Seth, Gabriel, Jin and Damon. Also, guess some things don't change. The assembly still looks down on them. But, hey that kind of makes it more realistic reactions.
Mark of Damon by Eva Chase is a reverse harem paranormal romance. This is the sixth and final book in The Witch's Consorts series.
Eva did a great job wrapping up their story. I loved the relationship that grew between Rose, Kyler, Seth, Damon, Jin, and Gabriel. I liked getting all of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
I would recommend this series if you're looking for a paranormal romance, fantasy romance, or why choose romance.
You guys, this was perfect. I’m seriously crying right now because I love Rose and her men. Especially Damon, I have a thing for bad boys and Damon though he is reconciled most certainly is one. This was a perfect end to an amazing story. Thank you Eva Chase!!!
It was nice to revisit the characters we have enjoyed in previous books. Although there are issues with everything going on since the last book, this novella is quite realistic, because all relationships take work and there are always some dark thoughts at times. I enjoyed Damon’s story very much especially the ending.
While I loved Rose’s story prior to this book, I didn’t care too much for this book it was very drawn out compared to the other 5 stories and didn’t hold the same feeling as the others. It was more dark, but the ending was wonderful! The last few chapters felt more like the first books and it was great seeing where Rose and the guys ended up!
Rating full series together. I liked the idea of this series more than reality. I think you could have cut 50 pages out of each book and would have had a better read. A lot of dead zones where you just wanted to get back to the action. Think it wrapped up well though, just took awhile to get there.
I loved catching up with Rose and her boys. It’s been a year since the demon attack but their HEA is not all roses and rainbows; they still have work to do to become a cohesive family. The ending had a wonderful surprise, so cute! I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.
This was such a treat, a novella from one of my favourite RH series, that I thought was finished! So much fun to see how things turn out for Rose and her guys, even if things aren't exactly peachy. Great read, and wonderful addition to the series. Well worth the read.
I'd forgotten that Damon was clawed by one of the demons. In this story, it's influence is spreading. He tries to deal with it but needs input from Rose. It makes their relationship stronger. They decide to add to their family. It's a sweet short read.
What a sweet way to end such a great series. Was there a great epiphany? An epic.battle? The answer to both is kind of. No disappointing ending, but one that ties up the little loose threads. My only problem is what to read next!
I like the coming together of such different personalities to overcome obstacles and to form a strong family bond. This series has lots of love to overcome the conflicts each person faces.
This is a short but insightful end to the series. Not only does it completely wrap up the plot, it shows the maturity each of the characters have gained through their tortuous adventures.
The book picks up after the event in the final book, where Damon sustained an injury from the last showdown with the demon. Now the demon is trying to find a way out again thru him.
Ever since the first book we read about him, Damon has been a complicated character. He has a temper, unlike the other Rose's consorts. I'm glad he finally has a nice closure in this novella.
