Fast fun read for any fan of time travel, romance, and historical fiction.

I enjoy period details and Marks provides s plethora of well researched ones about the food, furniture, and questionable hygiene of the year 1801. Here is a romance with “redeeming social value.” This novel asks the question: have attitudes toward women evolved or remained the same since that year? Writing is brisk and easy and the ending made me hope for a sequel.
