Two men. One sweet dream of family and forever.

Gabriel “Bull” del Toro loves his fast-paced globe-trotting job, but aches for an honest relationship and the trust that comes with it. After a few too many heartbreaks, he’s nearly given up hope of finding that special someone.

Until Ben.

Born deaf, Ben is used to working twice as hard for what he wants, but risking a newfound friendship on an impossible dream is scary. After all, there’s one lesson he’s learned: everything is temporary—freedom, friends, even family.

Neither man expects the undeniable spark between them or for every moment together to fuel that connection. For the first time, a happily ever after is within reach, but they must trust that the dream of acceptance, family, and a place to call home is more than a sweet fantasy.

It can be forever.

I get this huge dorky grin on my face when I receive a message from someone who has taken the time to read my book. I know readers have a choice in a sea of many options. I'm humbled when someone chooses one of mine. Thank you. ~JR

About me...
Jaime Reese is the alter ego of an artist who loves the creative process of writing, just not about herself. Fiction is far more interesting. She has a weakness for broken, misunderstood heroes and feels everyone deserves a chance at love and life. An avid fan of a happy ending, she believes those endings acquired with a little difficulty are more cherished.

...and yes, it was totally weird reading something about myself in 3rd person :)

When I read A Worthy Man, the fifth book of the Men of Halfway House series, I fell in love with Ben, the innocent, Deaf boy (Ben was only 19 then) who cherished his stuffed bunny just because his sister gave it to him. I desperately wanted a HEA for Ben, and thank the heavens, Jaime Reese wrote a beautiful one, plush bull and all.

But before the end came the beginning, which sees Ben back at Matt and Julian's Halfway House five years later after trusting the wrong people once again. Thanks to Aidan (Aidan & Jessie, book 4), Ben begins working at a bakery, and it's here he meets Gabriel (aka, Bull). Hint: Aidan has something to do with that as well.

Bull is a security specialist. He looks hard and menacing, but he's gentle and kills only when given no other choice. Bull is more than ready to settle down and can't keep his eyes off the cute, silent guy at his sister's bakery who seems to be ignoring him.

Even though the last few chapters had my heart pounding with adrenaline, most of the story is relationship-focused, slower-paced, and ever so sweet. Bull and Ben just get each other. Bull even knows how to sign because his grandfather was Deaf.

Bull doesn't treat Ben like he's fragile. Ben knows he matters to Bull, even though he has moments of insecurity. And when Bull needs him, really needs him, Ben is there every step of the way.

While A Sweet Man is not without angst, the men's relationship is never threatened or in doubt. Ben finds a new family, learns to say NO (only when he means it), and gets the happily ever after he deserves with the man of his dreams (and Bull is a good guy, the best).

The romantic in me ADORED this story, while the perv in me was not disappointed (Ben is insatiable, and these men are on fire together!).

If you haven't read this series, you're missing out, but Ben and Bull's story can be read as a standalone. I strongly recommend you read at least the fifth book prior to reading this one, though.

I have been wanting and waiting to read Ben's story for a long time now. I was so happy when I finally got to dive into this one. This has definitely been one of the most anticipated books of this year for me.

anticipation gif - Google Zoeken

I am also very glad to say that it did not disappoint.

Ben, for as long as he has been around, has always been the softhearted one of the series. His big heart, and the fact that he trusts so easily, has sent him to jail and The Halfway House twice now...

bad luck gif - Google Zoeken

Being back at the Halfway House again also means he has to work, which isn't as easy, with him being deaf. There are only so many jobs he can do. This is where my awesome friend Aiden comes in though... He offers to talk to Natalie del Torro, the sister of his best friend Bull... She owns a bakery and might be willing to offer Ben a job.

So this is how Ben and Gabriel (Bull) meet. With a little meddling from Aiden...

thats what friends are for gif - Google Zoeken

For those of you who have been reading all the books in this series, Bull isn't a stranger. He used to be Aiden's partner, and even though they don't work together anymore, they are still best friends. And Aiden seems to know exactly what his best friend needs...

After a rough first start, these two are off to a great friendship and an even better romance.  I think Ben and Bull were absolutely perfect for each other and their "slow burn" build-up was delicious.

description

Of course, it wouldn't be a Jaime Reese book of there wasn't also a splash of angst. Which I gobbled all up while licking my fingers :P

I had a great time reading this one and I loved reconnecting with old favorites.

I highly recommend every single book in this series!!!

Despite it being a long 2 years since A Chosen Man was released, and despite me only remembering half the details of previous books, Reese continues to deliver on the sweet swoony romance between two people who don’t believe love is in the cards for them.

Ben - deaf and long taken advantage of, his life hasn’t been easy as everyone he has held dear has left him. He’s a kind hearted soul who has been dealt a shit hand, his ever pleasing nature is always willing and eager to help those who are in need which has landed him in tough predicatments. This time around Ben’s determined to go with his instincts, and though he longs to belong, he just doesn't have any confidence in his ability to forge a new life, let alone attract the right man.

Gabriel - ex military and now specializing in private security, his innate drive is to always protect. He’s had some serious trust issues and past relationships have been disappointing failures. What Gabe wants most is fidelity and honesty, so when he runs into a gorgeous sweet man working at his sister's bakery, he longs to make a connection and to make Ben ultimately his.

This is a slow burn with a romantic progression that was tender and touching. Ben is a very endearing character, and my heart broke for him many times over. Gabriel is a top notch gentle giant, and it was wonderful to see him be patient and caring, never letting Ben think he’s unworthy or unwanted. When Gabe’s past puts everyone in danger, these two must rely on their faith in the other’s love to come out alive.

Again, another great entry in this reliable series about men who’ve had it rough and unfair and who’ve come out on top with their well deserved happy ending!

There are only a handful of things that continue to bring me absolute joy as the years pass me by...The Men of Halfway House have secured their spot on my list and this new release was a sunny spot during a time of dark clouds. I savored the pages and soaked up each and every moment. My typical M.O. when I pick up one of Jaime's books is to devour the entire book in a matter of a day or two (depending on my need for sleep) but this time I reined in all my self-discipline and only allowed a chapter or two each day. It was a reward that I greatly looked forward to and cherished. *sigh* These two, Bull and Ben, made me so happy. They were a gift and I will dance to the book gods to keep this muse chattering and politely insisting Reese must continue to grant us many more MoHH stories.

What's to like: It certainly can be read as a stand-alone but I would urge you to get to know the guys first. Their history adds a rich depth that would be a shame to miss out on. If you're familiar with this spectacular series, you'll recognize both Ben and Bull. I didn't foresee this pair but they are without a doubt perfectly suited for one another. I swooned, I full-body sighed, and I smiled almost the entire time. It truly was incredible timing because...I needed this slice of happiness. I held onto their elation and made it my own. I slipped into their bubble of excitement and let it wash over me. I could tell you details about the passion and tenderness, I could gush about the romance and love but I will refrain (just barely) because I believe in the power of this book and can only hope you find the same enchantment.

What's to love: Gahhh, I don't know where to start? And I honestly don't want to divulge all their secrets. I'm going to be vague but it's for your own good! Okay, so of course I fancy the writing. Reese always delivers a polished product. Above everything, I adored the amazing guys. I loved Ben and his quiet tenacious drive. I loved Bull and his fierce firm dedication. I loved Natalie and her bossy baking self. I loved how Bull was 'Gabriel' to Ben and this special distinction held importance. I loved spending time with Matt and Julian. I loved backyard family barbeques. I loved heart-racing moments that ended with splitting smiles. I loved the inclusion and balance. I loved their patience and their wildness. This spirited and sensual love story captivated me and I have all the confidence you will find yourself rapt as well.

Beware of: Ben is deaf and this adds another layer to the story...but I believe it was handled beautifully. Bull is an honorable man of law and order...which makes him one of my heroes. There are a few numbers between the candles on their birthday cakes...I didn't even notice. And it's aptly named, for it's a decadent treat.

This book is for: If you're searching for a concoction of sugar-coated with a sinful center, this exceptional pairing is just what you need.

As per author's words, this book was very sweet. In fact it was the sweetest book in the series, but that does not mean it wasn't angsty and at times heart-wrenching. It so was. The book covered many months in lives of Ben and Bull separately as well as together. They had time to become friends first then fall in love. The book was rather long due to internal musings of both MCs while they tried to figure out themselves and their feelings. Most of the story was steadily paced and didn't contain much suspense but a lot of sweet affection and after some point scorching heat. Ben found his confidence and center while Bull found complete trust and absolute devotion. There was a bit of danger in the end and it livened the story. Enjoyable read as always.

A Sweet Man is the seventh book in Reese’s long-running, deeply romantic, M/M romance series, The Men of Halfway House, which carries ongoing themes of hope, redemption and precious new beginnings for the deliciously sweet men that fill the pages of these stories. You best believe I was chomping at the bit to get my grubby hands on this latest installment when the release news dropped.

Yes, it can technically be read as a standalone—I get that some readers don’t want to commit to seven whole books—but I truly believe reading out of order in this instance would be a disservice to you and the author alike. These characters are all so entrenched in each others lives, some featuring more heavily than others across the series, but I feel like the experience here was made all the more special because of my almost decade-long love for many of the familiar faces that graced these pages.

However, I will begrudgingly admit, that for as much as I swooned over Ben and Bull’s pure and undoubtedly heart-warming love story, I do agree with a few of the reviewers who suggest this story was perhaps a little over-long. I found myself thinking at times that the narrative dragged out a bit more than was necessary for the story to have had the same emotional impact. This isn’t a feeling I’ve ever experienced in this long-standing series, so I’m not sure if it was mood related or if I simply wasn’t as enraptured by the story and the focal characters as I have been in the past (where I’ve consistently given full-star ratings to all six previous books—legit, LOVED THEM).

Regardless, this series is still a personal favourite of mine, with the first two stories being some of my very first M/M romance reading experiences (waaaay back when). So, for the nostalgia factor and for the way that books, like Reese’s, helped reshape my love of romance reading, I’ll always be grateful and excited whenever she releases new stories in a series that will always hold a special place in my heart.

Entire series HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! <3

What can I say?? Puddle of goo big-time. 💜🧡💛💚💙 Loved, Loved, LOVED it!! SWOON...HUGE sigh of contentment [see GIF above 😉], all the hearts and all the stars for B & B as Jaime calls them. There were plenty of happy and sad tears, it was just sooo emotionally satisfying and exactly what I needed today. Great catching up with most of the guys from the series, and although I was perhaps hoping for Cal's story next, the fact that he is now partnered off too puts that one firmly out of the running. So happy that I did a series re-read before I read this one straight through, and if you haven't had a look at this series yet, you're really missing out on an absolute treat. Dreamy, romantic and chock full of feels [although I'm still not that keen on the cover. Convinced it's AI 😒? Certainly doesn't look like a real human being] . Thanks Jaime.

I'm having very mixed feelings about this. I really liked the sweetness of it all. And I thought Ben and Bull were great characters.

But I also thought this book was looooooong. Even the epilogue kind of went on and on and on.

I know I'm probably one of the few who feels that way, since all my GR friends adore this book. And I can totally see why. But while I was reading this I also kept thinking, when is this going to end, because at times I felt it was never ending.

I think Jaime Reese and I don't completely match, because even though I have loved many books in this series, they all felt a bit wordy to me. Like they all went on for just a tad too long.

Still, this was a nice addition to the series, and I loved the hurt/comfort parts.

I don't know where all the high scores came from. This is... just unrealistic.

1. Men don't talk like that.
2. Can Ben be any more of a victim? 14% and assaulted twice? Waiting for others to rescue him?
3. Their first time together, no talk of STDs or anything, just flat out bareback?
4. Was it Ben's first time? Seemed that way... but everything seemed like NOT his first time while it was happening. The writing just didn't do the occasion justice.

I can go on... DNF 67%. I don't like to give up 2/3 through a book, but just can't go on. Prob need to blacklist this author.

This is a super sweet, slow burn that picks up about 5 years after we last saw Ben who was the 19-year-old, deaf resident of Halfway House who had a bit of a staring problem. Here he finally gets his own HEA and Bull is the perfect man for him.

Ben's been through so much, and there is still some rough road ahead, but the majority of this story is pure romance that will make you smile. These two are seriously perfect for each other, and seriously hot together. It was nice catching up with Matt and Julian and some other series couples, but other than not having their backstories, I think this book would work as a standalone.

A Joyfully Jay review.

5 stars

There is no denying that Jaime Reese’s The Men of Halfway House series is one of my favorites. I cannot express how this author just seems to get better and better at developing rich characters who may be flawed, but have a goodness inside them that draws the reader to them like a moth to flame. I can only hope that somehow A Sweet Man is not the last novel in this group, but if it is, Reese has certainly done the series justice by saving such an emotional and heartfelt story for last. The strength of this book lay in the growth that occurs in Ben and, to a lesser extent, Bull (aka Gabriel).

Ben moves from a place of shame and constant doubt to a bright future with a new career, a loving partner, and the family he has always craved. For Bull, it’s recognition that life is much too short to be spending it doing a job that may put him in harm’s way and take him away from the one person he loves—Ben.

I'm a huge fan of this series, I loved every book, some more than others, so I was really happy when this book was announced (as always when one of my favourite author writes another wonderful book)!
The blurb says everything you need to know, the writing style is really good, as usual! The pace is amazing and lovely (a little slow in the middle, but every romantic will have hearts in the eyes, guaranteed).
So, I loved this story and I really recommend it! It can be read as a standalone, but it would mean to miss out so much, really read the whole series 😉

A little too long and a little too sweet, but it got the job done.

Side note: Wasn't a fan of the author totally glossing over an attempted sexual assault. Like, the character "got over it" that same night and it was never mentioned again. *side eyes the author*

3.5. I hesitated between rounding up or down but settled on down because this dragged on and on. The book is, IMO, way too long. The story is great but it dragged . The MCs were well suited and the way they got acquainted and became friends was great and sweet. It took me a while to warm up to Ben because his characterization was a bit off to me at the beginning. The way his deafness was represented was amazing but he read as a bit childish to me which did not make sense with everything he had been through. A few things did not make sense . There were a lot a sweet moments that made up for the dragging so I kept reading and ended up liking the book a lot. I would still recommend this because representation is important and the way Ben's deafness is shown was great.

OH HOLY SWOON! I have really enjoyed this series and I think this may be my favorite. Holy moly, Bull and Ben absolutely owned my heart, these two men who truly deserve happiness and love! It’s actually a bit difficult for me to try to express how I feel about this book, I loved it that much. Bull and Ben will have a forever place in my heart.

This book is truly romance, these two men finding real and true love together. Ben has lived a tough life, born deaf and pretty much without real family for most of his life followed by a series of bad decisions and people taking advantage of him he’s served time in jail and prison and is looking for a new start. He’s back at the Halfway House with Matt and Julian and wanting to finally find his way. Former military man, Bull now works in the security business. He’s tough and can read a situation and people, and what he really wants is to find that someone special. When Bull and Ben meet, okay at first it’s a bit awkward, so second time they meet, there’s an immediate connection that you can just feel. Bull really sees Ben and listens to him, gets to know him and treats him the special, wonderful person he is.

The relationship that builds between these two is so beautiful, it feels so genuine and real that it made my heart actually ache. I loved what these two brought out in each other and what they became together. I feel like I could gush and gush about these two and their journey. A Sweet Man is a story about second chances, healing and the true beauty and power of love. A definite new favorite of mine and I highly recommend it, these two will make your heart so very happy!

Ben and Gabriel/Bull's story was just like I expected. It was slow, you need a little patient like Bull to really savor this story. Because Ben, he's worth it.
I was curious about Ben's story since Aiden's book, and soon as I got the ARC, I devour his story.
It's not the same atmosphere like the previous books, but I enjoyed it. Ben and Bull were made for each other, and soon as they'd met, the sparks bloomed.
Though near the end there was something, a horrible things happened (of course, it's Jaime!), A Sweet Man was actually the sweetest story from this series (despite what was happened near the end).
I wanted to put Ben in my pocket just like what Bull's feeling. Ben is his everything.
I didn't expect I read a twist in the beginning, and another near the end, but Ben and Gabriel/Bull's chemistry and strong will to be 'permanent' to each other, worth the pain I felt for them.
The love they shared was off the chart!
I loved reading how protective everyone, especially Aiden and Julian for Ben.

A Sweet Man was a one hell of a ride for Gabriel and Ben, and I was happy that they're finally what they were dream of for so long!

Great addition to the series

4.25 Stars

This one worked on a number of levels for me

I loved Ben and his staring when we met him in Shaw’s book and in this one we got to know him better and he is just lovely.

I felt for him that his trusting ways let him down and that it was his friends that did it. I loved that the guys looked out for him in their own little ways and also taught him to be able to say no. I liked that Ben tried to go on his own at the start and was heartbroken when that didn’t work for him and also that Aidan worked his magic to find him a job that was different but also just perfect for him. The fact it was as a baker was an extra bonus for me.

Bull was a great character and I loved how calm and in control he was. He took the time to help Ben without judgement when he needed it and protected him when he needed that as well. His relationship with Rachel was nice and added comic relief at times.

Other than the last 10-20% which was more action packed, more time was spent getting the guys together. I really enjoyed their first meeting and Bull’s disappointment when he thought Ben was ignoring him.

I did want Cal to get his story but that was worked out in the end

This book was EVERYTHING!!!! I have been so excited to read this and it did NOT disappoint. Ben was so sweet. Bull was so gentle and patient. *sigh* I LOVED how Julian, Aiden, Cal, and Bull all protected him in their own ways.

I loved how Bull treated Ben. I loved how Ben was with Bull - how even when he was scared he was still honest.

I cried so much during this. My heart broke for both of these two men.

Definitely going in my Top Books of 2020!

I was so excited when I learned that there will be a new book for this series and it is Ben's story! Granted this work perfectly well as a standalone, I was quite smitten by this deaf boy that had such a hard life.
Let me just say that this book is as sweet as the title itself. It started off with Ben being back at Halfway House feeling sorry for himself, but the house owners Matt and Julian are always there to love and support their boys. It warms my heart to see that Ben has a place to belong and Matt and Julian will never give up on him.
The love interest Bull aka Gabriel is Aidan's friend from his military days. I'm surprised with Aidan's matchmaking skills and Gabriel openness to pursue something with Ben. They may have an insta-connection, but I love the fact that they spend time knowing each other before they even have their first kiss. The romantic in me is definitely enjoying the slow burn.
The second part of the book after they finally got together is pure sweetness. For those like me who enjoy reading both MCs having time doing couple things will be in for a treat. I did feel a bit draggy past half way point because i didn't expect anything to happen since this is a pretty drama free story. But damn if I was not caught off guard by the sudden suspense when something finally did happen towards the end. When the epilogue came, I wish I get more page time during the aftermath. Overall, a fantastic addition to the series.

This is a remarkable, stunning tale, with beautiful writing that grips us right away.
We open with ex-con, sweet Ben, 24, deaf, a smaller,

lean muscled guy, trying to survive in a bad probationary home, where he's saved by Aidan.
Then he's taken to the Halfway House, owned by Matt and Julian.
Next we see Bull/Gabe, 38, ex-military, big muscled warrior, who is on the job in a dangerous situation.

He works for a security/bodyguard business now. His sister Natalie owns a Bakery, which is where Bull and Ben meet.

We have a long story, and it's worth every minute. We get a detailed look at our men and what formed them. Deep inner thoughts, plus many events, ( when a housemate attempts to rape Ben, Julian stops it ), are here, and we see their emotions, adaptation to situations and the progressions. Julian, Matt, Aidan, Sam, and Calvin are prominent as Ben's strong support team.

Bull and Ben begin dating, which is all firsts for sweet Ben, and it helps that Natalie, Bull, used ASL with their grandpa.
These two make a fierce bond that just gets stronger.

We see them in everyday life, and their pasts are told, which cement them even further. Each chapter will fill in the story and make it whole. Each new event gives us more understanding and we see what they see in the relationship. Bull and Ben are perfect for each other.

This story is about other people also. We get to see Bull's boss lady, Rachel and Anthony, Calvin's struggles and strength, plus Aidan, Natalie, Julian and Matt, in addition to Ben's awful sister, and Bull's alienation from his father.

Later in this tale, bad guys from Bull's past show up,

while Aidan pulls out all the resources and we get a huge action packed rescue.

A beautiful tale, some tears will fall, our hearts will be warmed and the epilogue is short but sweet.
Wooky...

This is a full, gripping, encompassing story of love, overcoming struggles and rising to the top.

I loved it ! I highly recommend it !
ENJOY !

I was already missing this series.
With each book, I feel that I could not like more than I like the previous book, but Jaime always surprises me (even though she gets stressed with each new book released LOL).

In this one, we finally have Ben's story.
Ben is more than a special character. Not only because he is a sweet person, who trusts people (which is why he ends up going to prison twice), but also because he is deaf.
After losing his parents and being separated from his sister (each went to a different foster house, and they only met years later), he was deceived by a friend and lost his parole.
Upon leaving prison, he was ashamed to return to Matt and Julian's Halfway House. But Sam managed to convince him that he would have real friends there.

As a rule to be at Halfway House, Ben needed to work (and this is the only place he is allowed to go alone). As an ex-con, he cannot work anywhere he has to deal with money. But finally he gets a job at a bakery.
Ben is fascinated by the baked goods universe. Baking cakes recalled the time when he helped his mother in the kitchen.

Natalie del Toro owned the bakery and was aware of ASL because her grandfather was deaf. The two soon become friends. Ben was eager to learn new recipes and in a short time, he overcame Nat in baking different types of cakes.

Ben's life seemed to be getting on track - even though he lacked contact with his sister, who hasn't been looking for him since he returned to jail.
Soon he would be out of the Halfway House period, and could live in his own rented house and have his life back.

And then he meets Gabriel "Bull" del Toro.

Gabriel had been a soldier, Aidan's partner (book #4) and now worked as a bodyguard and private security service.
He was bisexual and was tired of being betrayed by people of both genres, who thought that just because he was bi, he wanted to have a wanton life.
No, Gabriel was sincere and loyal, and he wanted to have a real relationship.
After returning from a long job on which he was traveling, he is encouraged by Aidan to visit his own sister's bakery. And that's where he sees Ben for the first time.

Well, let's say that their first contact didn't work out so well, but as soon as the obstacle was overcome, the attraction was there.

Gabriel was a tall, strong and very friendly man. As he is older than Ben, he feels the need to protect him, in addition to teaching ASL (when younger, Ben did not have the support of his family or foster care to learn ASL).
Ben needed a house to live in and a steady job to pay his expenses. The del Toros looked like angels on Earth helping him with what he needed (it wasn't charity, it was love and friendship).

Ben proved to be the right partner for Gabriel; he did not ask or bother questions inopportune due to lack of trust.
Gabriel proved to be the strength that Ben needed to grow in self-confidence.

When Gabriel's bodyguard job starts showing signs of danger beyond normal, he and Ben would need all the help of their friends so that the case could be resolved satisfactorily.

Here, the reader has the opportunity to revisit characters from previous books.
Gabe and Ben are a couple to make you sigh and fall in love. Perfect for each other.
In a way we start to believe that fairy tales can still be real... despite the pain and disappointments of those who should love us in the first place.

"She didn't want me anymore. So I let her go. She was supposed to be permanent."
"Blood doesn't make a connection permanent... I want to be permanent."

The book touched me deeply in some scenes and made me happy as if Ben and Gabe were a couple of friends of mine in real life.

When I heard there was going to be another Men of Halfway House, I might have done an internal happy dance. I loved this book! Ben just settled in my heart in the best of ways. He was so sweet, shy and innocent, and I loved how Grabriel/Bull let Ben set the pace. Their communication, of trust, of honesty was so special. I was also grateful that Ben's past was not the story, but ultimately Bull's story, and wow that was honestly a surprise. Well done!

Get ready…a classic Folsom review coming your way!! 🤣🤣🤣 I finished A Sweet Man (The Men of Alway House #7/KU) by Jaime Reese last night and WHOA, Jaime, OMG you've simply outdone yourself…You freaking NAILED it! It is an amazing sexy, sweet, slow (but not too slow) burn, relatively low angst, organic, hurt/comfort, age gap, LOVE story…Yes, a true LOVE STORY!!! I fell in love with Ben and Gabriel from word one literally! Sweet, young, broken Ben, deaf since birth and the AHMAZING Gabriel “Bull” del Toro battling his own demons just literally stole my heart. I can’t even express how much I love these men and their story. I love EVERYTHING about this book including the amazing secondary characters, some old and some new!! I had a smile on my face the entire time even when things got a bit dicey 😱, and then I had me the leaky eyes. The love is strong…The writing is just beautiful…The feels are off the charts. It is an amazing feel good book, and I love the time and care Jaime took in writing a deaf character…It was written in such a way that I felt EVERYTHING Ben and Gabriel felt..like I was literally falling as they were falling!! GAH!! This book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend the entire series because it is wonderful!! It’s most definitely time for a re-read!!

No rating because I didn't finish it. I hope I get back into it one day when the mood strikes because I loved the last two books. It's not the book, its 100% me since I've been in a weird mood the last 2 months

Okay so not only is this my first read from this author but it is also my first read where one of the main characters has a disability. In this case Ben is deaf, used by those he thought of as friends ending up in trouble and landing himself in prison and then Halfway House where he finds his chosen family. We see this couple Ben and Gabriel ‘bull’ del toro grow and learn from each other we see them both struggle with the decisions made by others and the aftermath of certain times in their past. This story is beautifully written and had me hooked from page one. It’s heartbreaking and heart mending all in the same sentence and the support they give one another and the family around them is amazing to read. I will definitely be going back and reading more of this series
