Zane Michaelson is a talented author/storyteller who isn't afraid to delve into real-life gritty stories. He has once again put the spotlight on a difficult subject that needs to be told.
It has been a long time since I have read a book in one sitting, but I couldn't put You Turned My World Around - Coming Out of the Dark: One down until it was done!
OMG, this is such an amazing story of a fearless young man, who makes a life-altering decision on a carefree night. But the ramifications of that night turn his world upside down and inside out. The struggles he goes through are the same struggles that a lot of young men in his position go through today.

I’ve just finished an early copy of this book. WOW! The author has worked in it for three years and IT SHOWS!
The storyline is one that would make headlines anywhere. The things that our “hero” lives through. The life he leads. Family. Friends. All of it could be an anytime anywhere story. Superbly written. I absolutely loved it! A MUST MUST read!
My ONLY criticism is I have to wait to read the rest of Dean’s story! Whah whah. Sniff sniff lol!

I think my heart has broken into a million unfixable pieces. After reading You Turned My World Around by Zane Michaelson over an hour ago and I'm still a wreck. An emotional roller coaster that made me ugly cry for hours after I’d turned off my Kindle.
Talk about angst, internal pain, and wanting to dive into the pages to protect a character, hold them and make everything alright again. This hurt inside my body will stick with me for days, weeks, maybe forever. If you feel the words you read, as I do, you'll understand the depth of what I'm saying.
The storyline will grab your attention but it's the words and the way Zane has woven them into this realistic story will keep you reading and needing answers.

There are books that touch us, ones that stay with us as well. Zane Michaelson writes an exceptionally outstanding and heartbreaking story which you will love once you start reading. I felt so much reading this: Tears, Humor, protectiveness, and never wanting it to end. A heavy hearted, amazing, mind-blowing, Fantastic book. I cannot recommend and say enough about this, except experience a mesmerizing story that will be in your heart forever.

What do you say about a book that was so amazingly written but yet it shredded your heart? This book had me ugly crying for the pain it made me feel to being in a total rage and so angry I wanted to climb into my kindle and strangle one particular character. The wave of emotions that flowed in this book had me smiling, then in tears, to anger, back to smiles and then heartbreak.
It is so beautifully written, the time and struggle to put the perfect words onto the pages of this story was well worth the wait. I thought ‘Selling My Soul’ hit me hard, this struck me just as much if not deeper and stayed with me well after I finished reading. My heart hurts for Dean and all the struggles he goes through.
Strange how the tears come back when thinking of this story and trying to write a review to do this work of art the justice it deserves. Brilliantly done! I loved it even through the whiplash of emotions and with that hell of a cliffhanger that it ended with. I wasn’t prepared for the onslaught of emotions that this book had me feeling, it is tragic and cruel and left me angry beyond words at the chain of events.
My heart felt like it was being squeezed in a vice, as realization hit me hard to where this story was heading.
A very true to life story that just broke my heart.

I am not sure I can remotely do this book justice with a review. First of all I am a huge Zane Michaelson fan but this book has to be one of the best I have ever read. Yes it ends with a huge cliffhanger, but it is such a must read so forget about that.
I went through so many different emotions reading this book. The things Dean went through are so terribly wrong and he showed such bravery facing them like he did.
You have to read this book, it is such an amazing book and I cannot do a review that will do it justice.

Gutted
This book left me gutted! Zane Michaelson you are an absolutely amazing author. This story is a real life problem and you have done it the justice it deserves!
While reading the story I was hoping that Dean would be able to navigate through everything. This young man has gone through hell and back so I can see why this book ended the way it did.
Kudos to you Zane!

This is one book you don't want to miss. Very well written with a heartbreaking realistic story. Parts of the story will be tough for some to read - but it is real life and eye opening. It does have a cliffhanger but well worth it. It gives you time for book one to soak in.
The story is about Dean who finds the love of his life but he is the only one willing to show his true feelings. Something tragic happens to Dean that changes his life forever and from here on out the story takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride full of twits and turns.

Hard hitting!!
I honestly don't know what to say!
I've just finished reading and now that the heartbreaking sobbing has stopped, I just feel numb!
It was a heartbreaking read, with parts that made me so angry I nearly threw my laptop, but a topic that needs to be written and read about and most definitely a story that will stay with me forever!
I'm interested but also scared to see what book 2 entails.
Grab your big girl or boy panties, a box a tissues and just go for it.
More than highly recommended!

Emotionally Challenging Read

A Must Read
I highly recommend this book to all. My God this was an an amazing book. My heart is thudding in my chest for Dean. He endured so much. I want to snack his mum upside her head. Zane you brought out what so many are dealing with. Such a powerful and important message to all. I cried so much through this story. Kudos such a well written book. Thank you. Can't wait to read more.

"For so long, I've felt dead inside, but his touch brings a part of me back to life and no warnings would convince me otherwise."
I am not even sure where to start with this review. My emotions are all over the place, my heart is in pieces on the ground, and my mind is racing 100 miles an hour.
I cannot begin to tell you how relevant this story is to today. A lot of times, we hear real-life stories just like this on the news, or read it in the paper, but we do so from the safety of our homes, and from inside our own little life-bubbles. You won't have that safety here as the author draws you into this story and makes you part of it. There is no escape back to your bubble, no option to put your blinders back on. This author wrote this with such detail and dare I say, insight, and had me completely invested in his main character, Dean. So much so that I literally had aches in my chest for what he was going through. I was mentally trying to lift him up and help him get through what was happening. If I could have jumped in to this story and throat-punched several other characters on his behalf, I would have done it. My poor Dean. I know you're not real, but I love you, and everyone out there who you represent.
Did I love this book? Absolutely. Did it rip my heart out and stomp on it? Absolutely. But most of all, this book affected me. After I finished the book, I made the mistake of trying to go to bed. I laid there, awake in the dark, and thought of Dean. I was hurting for him. I was angry for him and for what happened to him. I was angry that his story is reality for so many, and none of it makes sense.
I know this is a long review, and it really doesn't tell you much about the story, but I am finding it somewhat cathartic to put how I felt down in words. I'm not even sure I did it that well, but I will say this. Read the book. Feel the pain. Be the change. Love is love.

Another 5 star book by Zane Michaelson!
Without giving away any spoilers, this was such a great read, but it also really tugs on the heartstrings, as well as being raw and heartbreaking at times. I love everything about Dean, including his loyalty to his best friends Carol, Elise and Joy, as well as their loyalty to Dean. I love Dean's father and in my opinion, his father acted as every parent should act and treat their child. LOVE is LOVE and nothing should EVER change that! A beautifully written story that allows the reader to experience a series of emotions. I cried, I laughed and I got angry, but I absolutely LOVED this book and I can't wait for Book 2! Bravo, Zane Michaelson!!!

You Turned My World Around is the first book in the Coming Out of the Dark Series by Zane Michaelson. The book has angst without it being cliche or over-the-top. I felt Dean's turmoil and pain. It was both heart wrenching and heartbreaking. The story is told in Dean's point of view. At times I wanted to reach into the pages and console and protect Dean. Zane Michaelson is masterful in drawing me into the story and developing characters that have an impact on me. The book ends with a hell of a cliffhanger. I am looking forward to the next installment of the series. Kudos to you Zane Michaelson!

Keep the box of Kleenex handy. Half way through the book I had to stop and had a hard cry. This is a story that needed to be told. We all know it happens in today’s world. We see and hear it in the news. It has taken Zane 3 years to write this amazing, emotional, and heart breaking story. This is a must read. It is a cliffhanger but you need the break to let all that has happened soak in. Enjoy.

Once again Zane Michaelson has written a book that will have you an emotional wreck. Beautifully written about a touchy subject of a young man who is a victim of a hate crime because he fell in love and his friends who show him unconditional love and support. You will not be disappointed when you read this book.

Another very well written book with all kinds of emotions. There was happiness, anger, tears, hurt, sorrow, disappointment and peace. I enjoyed so much how Dean's friendship was with Carol, Joy and Elise. I felt all the emotions everyone did in this book. I was so disappointment that things escalated so badly between Dean and his mother. Looking forward to the next book.
