Is a Strong President a Good Thing?

Wow! Tim Heath pulls off another great book in his ongoing series of The Hunt. In The Menace, we pick up immediately following the victory of Filipov Matvey over Putin to become President of Russia. He is as ruthless as we expected based on what had transpired in the previous books.

Our intrepid team at MI6, Anissa, Alex, and Sasha, are fully involved in this story. Their long quest to bring those behind the Games to justice begins to bear fruit, but in ways, we had not expected.

Phelan is back and we learn about his dark past. He is one possibility of the title of this book. Many of the oligarchs and the leaders of The Machine are also an integral part of this story.

Of course, we are in the middle of a trilogy, so we have another cliffhanger at the end. Surprisingly, I didn’t feel cheated because of what we had already been given.

I highly recommend this book as well as all of the previous books in the series. I could barely put it down to get some sleep.

Tim Heath does not stop surprising me. The Menace is one of the best books, from The Hunt series until now. The way the story goes from The Prey to The Pride to The Poison and then to The Machine in order to continue through The Menace... OH! It's getting better and better! What a perfect mixture of sniper's magic, presidential's self-centeredness, agency's HUNTING... Everything is about the hunting... A Game that never ends, but when the hunter becomes the hunted? I can't wait for the next book as the ending was too powerful....

This is a fantastic series, and the fifth volume is probably my favourite so far. The quality of writing and research is excellent as ever, and the setting is disturbingly close to reality. The plot thickens, so much suspense in this one. I hated the cliffhanger though, it's going to be tough waiting to see what happens….

The continuation of the Hunt series doesn't disappoint. With a setting in the modern world the intrigue of the political world is strewn throughout along with some great action. Look forward to the continuation and seeing how this is all wrapped up!

Wow, this book was as gripping as the previous books in this series. It took me a while to catch up on all the back stories, but the author helped by putting in reminders of what had happened previously. So many characters and such a complicated plot, I had to concentrate to keep up. But it is a very clever storyline which had me hooked right up to the last page. Now I am desperate to read book 6, as I have no idea how the plot will end! Very clever, current and topical, loved every twist and turn!

For those who've not yet read the first four, I warn you now, reading on will spoil what's been so far...

This book was always going to be exciting in the fact we start it with the new President. A man so powerful, he can remove the almost irremovable. Now he gets to play...

His first moves are sure to signal to the world what type of leader to Russia the new man was going to be. I know this book isn't going to disappoint.

Happy reading. It's available from 7th November and the last book will be out in December (so you don't have to wait long to find out what happens next!).
