Calla is one of the most broken characters I have read and yet at the same time left me in awe. Jace is the hero who is just waiting to be noticed by her. Their story is heart wrenching and beautiful and the most amazing escape which left me rapidly page turning as I was immersed in the story.

This beautifully written touching story is the second installment of the Uncontrolled Heroes series. I've been waiting for this story between Calla and Jace and loved it so much. Calla is so broken and scared of everything and all Jace wants to do is protect and love her. KL Donn gives us another touching story.

I received this book in advance for a voluntary honest review . All I can say is OMG , what a masterpiece, I found myself so engrossed in this awesome story as well as the wonderful characters , that I literally forgot what time it was . K.L Donn is such a queen when it comes to romance . She is truly one of my very favorite authors. I fell so in love with Calla , she has had such a hard life , full of tragedy and heartache, as well as hate . From the moment her mom takes her away from her father and sister to the minute her mother dies , she has not know what happiness is . My heart broke for her , and all that she has been though . This book is very emotional, yet so beautifully written .her father and Sister have never stopped trying to find her . They even hired a private investigator. When she is finally found , The PI does everything he can to encourage her to reconnect with her family . In comes Jake , he is a huge guy with lots of tattoos who is a mechanic and builds motorcycles . As intimidating as he may seem , he is really just a teddy bear inside . I loved seeing their relationship develop throughout the book . Calla comes to mean everything to jake . They slowly fall for one another but , calla has been hurt so badly that jake must figure out a way to break down her falls , prove his love for her and gain her trust . This is easily one of the best books I have read in 2021 . It exceeded all my expectations and more 💙💜❤️

When I say this was one of the best short stories I have ever read hands down, I mean it. Calla who was stolen from her sister and dad was abused by her mom for years. By her mom having a disorder the abuse Calla received was extreme.

Finally at 18 she reconnects with her family. The family who never forgot her and always hoped the day would come when they would see her again. Her emotional scars are so deep that it is hard for her to reconnect but she longs to be a family again.

Jace who works with Petal’s (Calla’s sister) husband has had his sights set on Calla since she came to be with her family. He is a big guy with tattoos and knows he intimidates Calla, which bothers him. Jace can sense that she has emotional scars that go deep and he just wants to make her whole again. He sees the scared soul and vows to do everything he can and stand by her side. Calla eventually opens up to him and he gives her all the love he has to offer.

This was a beautiful short story that shows emotional scars can be healed again through love. Jace loved her fiercely and proved she was worth everything and more. He helped her see she was deserving of love. I wish this book could have been longer because I didn’t want to put this down.

Calla has been abused most of her life and just got back a family she had lost. She struggles to tell them the truth about what happened to her and even connect with them. Jace has been, not so patiently, waiting for Calla to see him standing in the wings waiting for her to notice him. Circumstances push these two together and both of them are going to have to figure out how step outside of what they know and into something beautiful together.
I really did love this book. I liked that KL Donn had Calla struggle to adjust to a life where people care about her after coming from almost a lifetime of having nobody care about her. Jace's attitude toward her and what she has been through was very needed to kind of push Calla forward or else I feel she would have been stuck in her emotional rollercoaster so to speak. I was a little thrown off by how young Calla is just because she has been through so much she seems so much older which I feel is so true to this character. Jace and Calla both have things they have to work through separately and together. Their story is beautiful and so worth the read. Highly recommend.

Calla just wants to find someone that loves her and will show her what love is. She’s attracted to Jace, her brother in-laws’ best friend, but she’s also afraid of him.

Jace has been attracted to Calla since the first time he saw her in the diner on Christmas Day. He knows she’s afraid of him, but he does his best to make himself appear smaller and not as intimidating as she sees him.

I enjoyed this story, although it is tragic, the build to the relationship between these two is great. Calla has suffered a tragic childhood and has to find her strength within to move on and find a path of love in her future. After the abuse she’s suffered, it takes a lot for her to put herself in a position where she can have her heart shredded, but Jace proves that he is worth it. Jace is a man that wants to show Calla that she is not damaged and that she is loved and worth the love that her sister and father have for her. She has to find a way to move on and Jace wants her to open up and be truthful with her family. I liked the characters and the strength that they find within themselves and the love they have to give. I give this story a 4.5-star review.

Uncontrolled Love!!

I absolutely LOVE this series and it just keeps getting better and better with each book that’s added. After finally finding out that her sister and father have been searching for her since her mother took her Calla has moved back to California to live closer to family. Only she feels she can never tell them about her past and the nightmare of abuse that she endured the past 13 years. But, Jace can sense that something is off and she can’t control the way his attention makes her feel. Finally there is someone there to show her what love is like. Jace knows that Calla is hiding the truth, and he will give her the time she needs, but he won’t let her get away. Calla was made for him and he knows that she was the one that was meant for him. Love the patience, understanding and love that Jace gives Call to help her tell her story and get her to a place where she can accept love and give it in return. 5 star must read!!!

Tears and Happiness

I purchased this book and am leaving my review voluntarily. It is book 2 in a series and does have characters from the previous book that appear.

Triggers:
age gap, memories/flashbacks of mental illness, emotional/physical child abuse, suicide

Spoilers:
Jace, best friend and business partner to Cade (b1), works on motorcycles, careful guy. Insta lust when he see's Calla for the first time

Calla, younger sister to Petal (b1), as a small child she was taken by her mom away from her sister and dad.

When Calla reappears in Petals life it is very overwhelming for Calla. Years of abuse from their mom have taken their toll on her emotionally. While she's attracted to Jace, because of her past, she doesn't think she's enough.

This is a fast read that packs a punch. It's about survival and overcoming tragedy. That everyone deserves happiness. Grab tissues. HEA

This book was such a good quick read

Calla has not had any easy life living with her mother. She really just wants to be back with the family that she lost. This does not happen as soon as she wishes and when it does she doesn't
believe that she can ever be loved. To say the least her mother destroyed her in so many ways.

Jace is an older (in his 30s) that has been attracted to Calla since he first saw her. He can see that she is fighting inner demons. Will he be able to get through these demons? Oh and Jace seems so intimidating to Calla because of his size.

Over all I loved this book because Jace and Calla have a lot to work through but work through it all. Jace doesn't give up on Calla and makes her see that no one can change her but herself.

Can't wait to read what comes next.

First things first; I really like the cover of this book!
The girl who was meant to be mine is the second book in the ‘’uncontrolled heroes’’ series. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. Calla has had a horrific life. Now reconnected with her father and big sister, she is struggling. Jace wants Calla but will she ever give love a chance?
The chemistry between Jace and Calla is clear to see and I liked them together.
My heart hurt for Calla and all she had been through. I was glad that she opened up to Jace and then her family.
I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

This book was sad and sweet and spicy 🌶️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. This book revolved around a hound Calla Davies who was taken by her mother who suffered from severe mental illness. She abused her daughter physically and emotionally.

You also meet Jace Cooper who waited to grow up, waited to run his own business with his best friend Cade. He has been in love with Calla quite a while. Calla isn’t sure if she belongs home with people she loved. Jace is twice her size and she was scared of him and liked him at the same time. I felt bad for Calla and all that she went through. I liked how sensitive Jace was and how determined he was to win Calla’s heart. There was some spicy 🌶️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ moments in this story for sure. It was sweet though. I enjoyed reading this.

Swoon worthy.
Sorrow is one word for Cali, but it's only there for a moment, then the words change to victorious survivor. Caught as a young girl in a scenario that she could not escape she has survived. Jace has been watching her since she returned to her family, but she's not really fitting in and Jace is the one to figure it out. Memorable lines, "Take it, grip it with both hands, and don't ever let go", "angel in a devil's world", and "you're worth everything". Gut wrenching story with my emotions all over the place, including their HEA. Loved this book.

I received this book in advance for a voluntary honest review. OMG I loved it! Calla’s life has been a tragedy and full of hate from the moment her mom drives away with her to the moment her mom dies. Her father and sister never stopped looking for her and their PI finally convinces her to move to be a part of the family. Jace is a large, tattooed hulk who builds motorcycles and is a big teddy bear, especially when it comes to Calla. He knows she is meant to be his, he just needs to earn her trust and show her what love is. So good! (I will say there may be triggers in this book, but the happily ever after makes it all worth it).

This story is gut wrenching. Calla doesn’t feel like she deserves love because of a past that is indescribable. Jace is a big man with an even bigger heart. He is so patient and sweet and just what Calla needs.

Such a great addition to the series and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. If I didn’t have work the next day I would have finished it at 3am. It was hard having the self-control to stop. I wanted to devour this book, but savor at the same time.

Side note: super hot and steamy as always. KL Donn never disappoints in that department.

Loved this one! Marking as a re-read for sure!

Calla’s story will break your heart. No child or adult should go through the things she did. The damage to her mind will be long lasting even with Jace, her sister, father, and other extended family trying to love her.

Jace knows she is meant to be his but he must walk a thin line with her so not to scare her away. He still makes it known in his alpha way they are it for each other and will do whatever it takes to give her everything she deserves.

We get some drop in moments from Cali and her men as well. Love those guys!

I hope we see more in this series! I’m loving it every bit so far.

Calla and jace stole my breath. These two were so perfectly opposite and fit like two halves of a whole. The terror calla went through for most of her life leaves her so damaged that she doesn’t think she can be saved, or is even worth being saved. But Jace swoops in and shows her what she’s worth, which is everything. He is patient and caring and super sexy. Along with being a crazy, sweet, romantic ride, this book kicks the heat into high gear more than once, I would take Callas place in the bedroom any day. 5 amazing stars for another KL Donn success!!

KL Donn’s books are my guilty pleasure. The only issue is that I keep having to wait for her to write and publish a new! The Girl Who Was Meant To Be Mine was exactly what I needed to de-stress mid week. Jace is absolutely perfect for Calla. He’s a protector in the storm...the nightmare extinguisher. With the way poor Calla grew up, I’m shocked that she gravitated to him. But then again, this is KL Donn writing this story. I absolutely devoured this and once again I find myself waiting for the next book!

In The Girl Who Was Meant To Be Mine Calla is a strong survivor of her past.
Jace has spent his life run a motorcycle shop and when he meets Calla not only does he knows the story she gives of the her past with her mother is wrong but with out a doubt she is the only girl for him. So he helps her through everything and it brings them closer. But can Calla get over all she through in the past to be with Jace. And give them a real future.....

K. L. Donn gives us some great characters. The Girl Who Was Meant To Be Mine has a strong storyline. I love the series.

Not sure where to begin. Oh the emotions this one brought out of me. Calla has lived through one tramatic event after another at the hands of her mother from a very young age. No child should have to go through what she endured. Calla has come through her tragedy a strong but still broken woman. She believes she has no one she can fully trust anymore. Jace comes in like her shining knight to wrap her up in love, trust and stability. Can she trust him enough to help her learn to love? To trust her family she hasn't seen in years?
Have your tissues handy, you are gonna need them!

GREAT SHORT READ!

KL Donn is able to pack so much into a short read, it keeps you turning the pages to find out what is going to happen next.

Calla grew up in a terrible childhood by the one women who was supposed to love her unconditionally, her mother.

Jace knew he wanted Calla from the moment he saw her. He knew she was the one for him. He knows it will take some work, but he refuses to back down from being together with his forever.

Will Calla be able to open up to Jace and give him a chance? Read this book to find out!

Calla’s journey is a rough one. But it was wonderful watching her come into her own with the help of Jace. Sometimes all we need is to know that there is someone there to catch us when we fall... no matter what. Jace proves that he is the non-judgemental safety net for Calla. I love that he is so aware of her tells and is there to help shoulder the burden. I want to say so much more about The Girl That Was Meant To Be Mine, but I don’t wanna spoil anything as this journey needs to be felt soul deep. I couldn’t put it down and can’t wait for Beckett’s story!!!

Ugh! The tears. This is one story that will have your emotions going in overdrive. Like all of Donn's books, once you start you can not stop. This story had my craving to find out what happened next with each passing word. Calla's past will pull at your heartstrings and make you ache for revenge on her behalf. I have never wanted to jump in a book and beat a person so badly as I did a couple of the characters from her past. I 100% recommend this book to everyone. But, be warned, by the end of the book, the words will be hard to see through the tears.

I absolutely loved this book! This is the second book in the Uncontrolled Hero’s series.

Ever since her mother took her from her father and sister, Calla’s life has been nothing but pain and abuse. After reuniting with them, Calla is having a hard time acclimating to a loving family. Jace is a tattooed bad boy with a heart of gold, who has fallen hard for Calla. He sees the real her and knows she is worthy of love, now he just needs to show her.

If you haven’t picked up a KL Donn story yet, you need to! This is a beautiful short story.

💋💋The Girl Who Was Meant To Be Mine💋💋

Calla believes she's broken cause of what she went through as a child and teenager. Being physically and emotionally abused took a toll on her, it pushes her not to be closed to others especially her family. Jace met Calla and knew she's it for him, but he knows he has a long road ahead of him to get Calla to take a chance, Calla knew I'd she wants the life she's always dreamed of she has to let go and take the first step towards her future with Jace. This book is a little emotionally but author K.L Donn did amazing 💋💋💋

Oh my this book was excellent. I was excited to read this book as I thoroughly enjoyed reading the first book in this series where you got a glimpse of Calla and Jace. Calla’s story is a heartbreaking one and Jace is so wonderfully perfect for her. This book had me hooked from the start and once again Kl left me emotional from her wonderful writing. I received this book as an arc for my honest opinion.

Tragedy, sorrow, heartbreak... balanced by hope, love and happiness. Calla's life has been one of tormented abuse. Physically and emotionally, her heat and body betrayed by the one who should have protected her above all else. But then, light appears. Can she trust the hand that has been held out to her? Can she put faith in the family who was left behind? Can she rise above the terror to form a new relationship?

Jace and Calla's story was so good. We meet Calla briefly at a younger age in the beginning of the book and quickly learn her childhood was not good. This was heartbreaking and it made me want an HEA so bad.
And then there was Jace - patient, calm, strong - everything that Calla would need to heal.
Another 5 star read from me!

Calla is like a diamond. Tragedy has formed her and its time to break free of the past and shine. Jace is so perfect for her, he sees the real her and wants to do whatever he can to support her. Her fight to keep the truth about her mom from her sister and dad was so touching and heartbreaking. She wanted to spare them the pain of knowledge. Jace said that she is too good for this world and he was so right. She never uses her past as a weapon or an excuse. She is sweetness, without a doubt. You'll see what I mean when you read it. KL Donn did a fantastic job, as always. She crafts emotional stories with characters you quickly bond with and before you know it, you are consumed by it all. That is why I adore her; ten stars for Jace and Calla!

Book 2 in the Uncontrolled Heroes series and the first that I have read. Let me say, wow what a story. Loved Calla and Jace. She had a hard childhood thanks to her mom and he saw past her hurt and wanted to help her feel real love. This is a short read that will tug at your heart strings and have you rooting for Calla and Jace to be able to get their HEA.
