Water Dragons #1-4

The Water Dragons Box Set: Books 1 - 4

Dragon Shifter Box Set Dragon HuntStorm, Dragon Prince of the Water tribe, has decided to take part in the Bride Hunt for the first time. His reasons for doing so are because he’s bored. Also, it sounds like a whole lot of fun. Jolene is sick of human men. All they want is sex. None are interested in committing to anything long-term. At thirty-four she’s done waiting for her dream man. She wants a husband and a family. Thrilled doesn't come close to describing how happy she is when she's accepted into the shifter dating program. She’s even more excited when she discovers the shifters are dragons. Finally, men who actually want to settle down. What a disappointment when the guy who wins her turns out to be an arrogant a$$hole. It’s all a game to him. He doesn’t want commitment. What’s worse is that she’s stuck with him for the next couple of weeks. It sucks that she’s a little attracted to him. Okay, okay, make that, a lot attracted to him. He might be an ass, but he's a gorgeous ass. Should she try and change his mind about not taking a mate? Forget it! Should she make his life a living hell? That’s more like it. Is there a chance of her falling in love with him while doing it? Dammit, but it’s a possibility.Captured DragonOne injured dragon. Four terrified humans. A group of ruthless Dragon Hunters. One thing is for sure, nothing good can come from this situation. Several human females are abducted during one of the Bride Hunts. Despite the danger to himself, Flood attempts to rescue the females. He is gravely injured for his troubles and wakes up to find himself in a tiny cell, complete with silver-infused bars.Paige should’ve trusted her gut. Her first instinct, when she’d seen the helicopter on the horizon, had been to run. Unfortunately for her and the others, she was dead right. She needs to help the injured shifter and must do what it takes to keep them all safe. Even with the odds stacked so heavily against them.Blood DragonBay knew what she was. Definitely not human. He knew she was startlingly beautiful. He even knew what she looked like naked. Unfortunately, he didn’t know who she was. Not even her name. Where was she now? What was she doing? Thoughts like those continued to spin around and around in his head. Making him crazy. Making it so that he couldn’t think of anything else. It was affecting his work, his sleep, his life. Why had she up and left in the middle of the night? Gone before he could ask her that one burning question. The answer to which could alter his life. In just a couple of days, he and Torrent are meeting with all of the leaders of the non-humans. They are going to discuss the Slayers. A collective effort needs to be made to stop them. He should be strategizing. Yet, he finds himself agonizing over what he will say when he sees her next.Stupid, stupid! If anyone ever found out she’d spent the night with a dragon shifter, she’d be in a ton of trouble. Good thing she’s never going to see him again. She should move on with her life. Sure, there are a couple of dragon delegates set to attend the big meeting between the species, but what are the chances of one of them being him?Dragon BetrayalThere are only two problems with Alex Bell, she was born a woman and a gorgeous one at that. Two unforgivable traits. At least, according to her father. She’ll never live up to daddy’s expectations. No matter how hard she tries. She’ll never be ruthless enough. Strong enough, or quick-witted enough. Lucky for her she has a couple of tricks up her sleeve.

By far one of my favourite genres and stories❤️

I’ve put my reviews together for this boxset for you to read all in one place😁

Book one - Dragon Hunt
Golden boy and sweet lips 😍

Good start to this new series by Charlene! Storm is bored with most aspects of his life and has decided to join the next hunt, where the dragons each fight over the human females for a chance at mating and whelps. However, Storm gets more than he bargained for......Jolene is almost thirty-five, she literally is all about work and more work! She gets accepted into the shifter breeding program and is stunned when it turns out that it’s dragons, which wasn’t what she was expecting. Storm is clearly a player and has it written all over him with his body language and cocky attitude. So when Jolene turns him down, he finds himself feeling challenged and tries to put his best foot forward:)

Interested to see what happens next with the humans that are coming into their territory!

Book two - Captured dragon
The title says it all!

After the hunters encroached on their territory a few months back, it has been quiet! So the dragons decide to have another hunt to win themselves a female. Flood is the closest to the four females when a helicopter approaches them. Trying to not endanger the females more, he stays back hoping they can de escalate the situation, but it turns out worse when him and the four females are captured and taken back to the hunters lair!

A great read, loved Flood and Paige and how they fought for each other, even though their start was a bit more unconventional than the other dragons😍 Looking forward to finding out more about Bay and who this mystery woman is he might have met on the latest Stag run....wink wink 😉

Book three - Blood Dragon
An unusual pairing no-one saw coming😍

Bay has finally been ‘encouraged’ to attend the twice annual Stag run, but knows nothing will happen as per usual. When Bay goes across the road, leaving his brothers to find women for the night, he stumbles onto a woman who is other....not human, but hard to distinguish what she is. This intrigued him and ultimately leads to a night neither one can forget. Fate intervenes and they meet up on Vampire territory later down the track and actions lead to consequences neither saw coming.

Great story about Bay and Cheri and I eagerly await the next story in this series❣️

Book four - Dragon Betrayal
Is blood thicker than water?

Alex is on a mission to secure a dragon and his pregnant mate, when things go belly up. She ends up in a cave with an injured dragon whom she can see despises her. Deciding on the seduction route, ends up complicating things further.

Beck needs to recover from his injuries, but he is angry with himself because he feels an attraction to the slayer he’s captured. However, even though he can see through her ruse, he plays along in order to heal from his injuries💕

I waited a little while before reading this story as I wasn’t sure what way the author would go with Alex’s character, but I really enjoyed it❣️ The story was fast paced and the underlying problem of a dragon with a slayer being seen as a betrayal to their people holds endless drama in the future. I look forward to finding out more about this couple and more about Page and Mountain😁

The Water Dragons Box Set: Books 1 - 4 is the first four books in the Water Dragons series, which follows The Bride Hunt series. The story revolves around dragons who meet a woman and their lives are changed forever. But they as a species don't tend to get along. That's when the fun begins.

While each book can be enjoyed as a standalone, it's best to read them in order to fully appreciate the rich paranormal elements and exciting themes they offer. The characters must fight to stay alive, but what they discover is even more significant than they ever imagined.

I love the strong, sexy alpha males in protective roles!

Amazing Dragon Shifter Romance Series!

I cannot say enough about this series! If you're looking for a Dragon shifter series that offers you a little bit of everything, this is it! You have romance and sexual chemistry in spades. There's humor and playful banter. Plenty of action and danger, suspense and intrigue. Most of all, charlene Hartnady never disappoints in bringing it all together in a seamless and enticing fashion. I truly love her style of writing! She has been my go to author for a consistently enjoyable read, time and time again. The series, as a whole, gets an easy 5 stars from me!

The books guarantee a HEA and do contain strong sexual themes and language.

Here is a rundown of the 4 books and their characters:

Dragon Hunt ( Water Dragons, Book 1 )

We meet Storm, the dragon prince of the Water tribe and Jolene in this first book of the Water Dragons series. Storm decides that he wants to take part in the Bride hunt, although he doesn't really have any intention or desire to take a bride. He's bored and looking for a little fun. Jolene, on the other hand, is dead serious about finding her forever mate. she's done wasting time on the wrong guys. From the moment they meet, sparks fly! Jolene gives Storm a well deserved run for his money while Storm learns what it's like to have sexual attraction turn into so much more! Will he let her go or try and keep her? That is the question. If I were to pick the one thing that really stood out in this book for me, it would be the chemistry and sexual banter. These two were hilarious!

Captured Dragon (Water Dragons, Book 2)

We meet Flood and Paige in book two of the Water Dragons series. Unlike the more humorous undertones in book 1, we start out this story with 4 human females being abducted from the Bride hunt shortly after it starts. We have plenty of action and danger going on from page one. Flood comes upon the scene and decides that despite the odds, he has to try and save the women. He is one seriously hot alpha male with a heart of gold. Although gravely injured, he and Paige team up to thwart the Dragon Hunters, save the other women and escape. Paige is a strong, level headed woman that is determined to get them all out of this mess. Despite the danger, she steps in to nurse Flood back to health. The hunters that captured them will stop at nothing to get what they want. It becomes a battle of will and determination. What starts out as a simple team effort to save themselves turns into so much more. The two had some work to do to in order to find their HEA. It was awesome to watch them find it!

Blood Dragon ( Water Dragons, Book 3 )

We meet Bay and Ceri in book 3 of the Water Dragon Series. This 3rd installment is so much different than the first two, in a really good way. Charlene Hartnady is a genius with pulling her series together in such a way that you're never bored. Each book is fresh and new while still making perfect sense and staying connected as a series. Bay has had some serious trauma in his past, physically and mentally. Feeling as if love will forever elude him, he has little expectation in ever finding a mate of his own. While in town for a stag run, Bay spots a women that completely captures his attention. He's not sure who or what she is, but he's completely drawn in by her. Ceri is an amazing character and I liked her more and more as the story unfolds. I won't give much more away. I will say this, I loved these two and couldn't wait to see them come together and embrace what they have together.

Dragon Betrayal ( Water Dragons, Book 4 )

In the 4th book of the Water Dragon series we meet Beck and Alex Bell. In Dragon Betrayal we finally start to see what's going on behind the scenes with the slayers. We also come to find out how Alex is involved and what her connections are to them. Alex and Beck's relationship does not start out on a positive note, but things are not always as they appear. As the story starts to unravel and become clear, we get a much better look at what motivates Alex and all that she's been through. I really don't want to give too much away. This is an action packed read with plenty of adventure, danger and despite it all, plenty of chemistry and attraction. This was a great finale to the Water Dragon Series and a great set up for the next.

Please not: As mentioned in the synopsis Although this story has a definite HEA, Dragon Betrayal ends on a cliffhanger/prelude to the next book.

***This review contains SPOILERS.***

I have read these books individually when they were first released via KU, but I am a fan of Charlene Hartnady and enjoyed revisiting this world.

*I received this ARC box set in return for my honest review*

I wrote these as I was reading and finishing each one.

Book 1 – Dragon Hunt
I did not like how Storm would not just leave Jolene alone at the beginning of the hunt. She flat out told him “I want love, commitment, kids” and he just wanted to bang her for 3 weeks. I hate how Jolene essentially caved to him. I felt like Storm didn’t deserve Jolene. I don’t think she should have had feelings for him. He literally told her he did not want what she wanted. She only caved because he was physically attractive. He was immature and selfish. Least favorite book of this set.

Book 2 – Captured Dragon
Flood and Paige’s story is probably my favorite of this 4-book set. It was hot and sweet. Flood was adorable and hot. Their story just worked for me. It was believable and just downright cute. Minus the women being kidnapped, tortured, and threatened with rape of course. Flood and Paige’s interactions gave me all the good feels. I like these two and was glad everything worked out for them.

Book 3 – Blood Dragon
I know I said book 2 was my favorite, but Bay and Ceri are now my favorite. They were soooooo hot. I mean, my pulse raced and I was panting throughout all their interludes. I wished that they would have just said what they needed to say to each other instead of beating around the bush, but I get that that is how an author builds the tension. It frustrates TF out of me, but I understand. I’m so glad everything worked out for these two and that their story was wrapped up neatly. Also, the brief glimpse at what awaits for the next book is intriguing enough to make the reader want more.

Book 4 – Dragon Betrayal
Let me first say, I went into reading this story very biased. I didn’t want to read about any kind of redemption for Alex. I didn’t like her and didn’t want her to get any sort of happily ever after. That said, THIS is my least favorite and why it's 4.5 stars not 5. I just couldn’t get past my feelings of dislike towards Alex to accept that she had changed and deserved Beck.

Overall, I finished these books in about 24 hours. Charlene Hartnady’s books have always been able to just suck me right in. I can visualize the worlds she builds, the characters she writes, and the scenes she describes. I’ve read all her series available on KU except the demon chaser one. I couldn’t get into the first book. She is one of a few authors that are the reason I continue to get KU. I was fangirling so hard that I received this ARC!

Water Dragons is a continuation of the Bride Hunt series. I always enjoy seeing some of the mates from previous books showing up from time to time. I received an ARC copy of this set and am voluntarily leaving this honest review. Dragon Hunt is the first book in The Water Dragons series. Jolene wants a mate that’s not human. Storm isn’t human, but he doesn’t want a mate. I felt like Storm was kind of a jerk in the beginning but Jolene manages to bring him around. In Captured Dragon the second book, Paige is abducted during a bride hunt and even though he is injured, Flood wants to save her. Blood Dragon, the third book in the series, is where Bay meets a female he can’t forget. She isn’t what he is supposed to want, but he can’t get her out of his mind. Bay has been in previous books and he is so sweet you can’t help but wish for him to meet his mate! I wasn’t sure I would like Dragon Betrayal, the fourth book, in the beginning. Alex had been an enemy of the dragons in previous books and I couldn’t see how she could be redeemed. But of course, by the end of the book I was believing she deserved her HEA. This book ends with a cliffhanger that leads into Dragon Guard, the first of the Earth Dragons series.
I really enjoyed this series and definitely would recommend it. They can be read as stand-alone books, but for the total experience start with the Bride Hunt series 1-3. You won’t be disappointed!

This is a great series! Definitely one that will keep you interested and on the edge of your seat.

DRAGON HUNT
Charlene Harnady brings us Storm and Jolene. I hated that way that Storm acted. He was a prick and needed to be taken down a peg or two. That is just what Jolene does! She knows what she wants and is not going to give it up! Loved this story!

CAPTURED DRAGON
Loved the story of Flood and Paige! The balance between suspense and romance is great! I love how protective of each other both Paige and Flood are even though they don't know each other well. This is a great continuation in the Water Dragons series.

BLOOD DRAGON
Charlene Hartnady gives us another amazing story that is so different but fits in perfectly with the world she has created! I love Ceri and Bay! They are a perfect match in all ways! Definitely a 5 star book!

DRAGON BETRAYAL
This story keeps you on the edge of your seat and takes you on a journey were both Beck and Alex realize that their assumptions about each other may be very wrong. They will both have their loyalty tested and how they handle it will determine if they have a future together. Absolutely a nail biter.

Book one, Dragon Hunt
I love these books for the whole love at first sight, mate for life, mine mentality of the shifters so i was heartbroken for the heroine who was looking for commitment and got the fun time player. But my goodness it was worth the ride. He was super alpha possessive even when saying it was just fun. I loved it!!
Book two, Captured Dragon
Wow this one was exciting, it had danger and kidnapping and a great alpha hero (swoon) near the end there i was devastated for him, will love win in the end??
Book three, Blood Dragon
This one was my favourite of the box set, i love the stories with vampires, the biting is so hot 🔥!! These two had a rough time, with terrible medical issues for both of them. A beautiful story.
Book four, Dragon Betrayal
Epic story of enemies to lovers, it was like Romeo and Juliet with dragons! I didn't think I'd be able to like Alex, but she was definitely redeemable.

Overall a fantastic set of books, i love the world this author has built and the stories set there.

I received an ARC of the box set, but i also bought all for books individually.

🔹ARC kindly provided from the author for an honest review🔹

I hope you enjoy all my four reviews below💚

Overall rating: 3.75 stars

- Dragon Hunt #1

4.5 stars

Yay dragons!!

Storm, the youngest of the Water Dragons is bored as fuck.
Decides to join the “Bride Hunt”, not to gain a mate(because he for sure will not commit), but to keep a woman in his bed for 3 weeks.
He is a little full of himself, but he so pulls it off😂

The woman he captures? Probably the woman most focused on getting herself a man because she wants to start a family so bad.
Almost at 35 she feels her inner clock ticking.

They are legit the worst match, and yet... Yet their chemistry is glorious.
One is hellbent on not committing and the other wants nothing more.
Loved how honest they were about where they stood. It was very easy to root for them.
Plus Jolene was a total sweetheart.

There was a lot of delicious tension, and even a little extra dilemma plot wise.
The story focus heavily on the mating aspect, which is nicely executed, but I sincerely love the extra action about the dragons hiding their existence from the Slayers (hunters killing paranormal creatures).

It gives the story a little extra flavour and I do love it spicy. 😂

Totally hot and sweet.

- Captured Dragon #2

3 stars

In the second instalment of the Water Dragons series we meet Flood.
Big, brooding and tough as nails.

He enters the Bride Hunt, and instead of claiming a female he gets captured by the Slayers together with 4 women from the Bride Hunt.
The Slayers is an order set out to destroy the dragons.

Paige is one of the captured women, and she tends to Flood because he got badly hurt, when the Slayers captured them.
I found the story sweet, and greatly enjoyed the different setting.
I wasn’t completely sold on their feelings toward each other and struggled a bit with a connection to the characters.
Overall quite entertaining, but did leave a lot to be desired.
Not my favourite, but I did like that they didn’t rush into anything👏

- Blood Dragon #3

3.75 stars

Big points for the new setting!

Love the vampire/dragon combination.😈
That meet up was intense!

Plot wise we are in for a treat. It really was a fresh breath, because usually I find Hartnadys books to follow the same pattern. And we got a bit more action, and the friendship between Ceri & Drago is #goals

Rating books like these are always highly tricky for me, because I love the “easy-going-ness” of the story, the uncomplicated feel to it, but because they are so “chill” we don’t really see that much character development, deep plot or intricate storyline. And yet. These stories deeply appeals to me because they are to relaxed.
They are also slightly cheesy😂 But the steam though. It sure is hot!

And who doesn’t love a big and powerful dragon?

So basically what I want to say I rate this 3.75 stars in the “we are a light, chill, and sexy paranormal read” - category😂

- Dragon Betrayel #4

4 stars

Well this was such a delicious twist! Loved the ending!

Action packed, light, funny and Beck was so much alpha! #hotandbadmouthed

Could not have digged this character more!

Alex is the daughter of one of the founding families. The so-called Slayers. She believes the dragons brainwash and use human women, hence her strong dedication to the founding families cause. Then she finds herself on the mercy of Beck. And find out that maybe dragons are not the monsters she believes them to be.
Love/hate relationship always gets to me.
#cannotgetenough

Beck is second in command of the water dragons. Tall, handsome, and a pretty boy- Beck is a dragon who loves to flirt.

He also loathes Alex with everything in him.
That emotion was so well written. I felt it, and Hartnady do very light emotions, so I rarely get that attached to a character, but I felt how he struggled with his emotions towards Alex. And I loved it.
True to Hartnady we get a nice dose of cheesy, yet captivating story, and this was no exception.
Totally worth a read, because #dragonsareawesome
