She knew falling for her boss was a bad idea, but some lessons take longer to learn.
Former Marine, Ridley Westoff wants nothing more than stability for him and his little girl. But with a job that requires constant moving and an ex-wife who abandoned them long ago. It is difficult to ever feel settled.
Adelene Laurent's career as a model should have left her financially secure, but her misplaced trust has her living paycheck to paycheck. When a stranger offers a job as a nanny for his daughter, Adi hesitantly accepts it even though she has no experience.
They have both vowed to stay away from relationships, but attractions begin to develop on both sides. When Ridley discovers Adi has been hiding a secret, his is not the only heart that could be broken.
This is the first book by Mindy Burbidge StrunK that I have read and I thought it was great! I’m loving reading these books in the Top Flight series. I love the characters and learning their stories. I loved the interaction between Ridley and his daughter and I loved how he followed his gut when choosing Adelene to be his daughter’s nanny. I loved how the relationship blossomed between Adelene and Ridley. I love how Mindy made her characters believable and relatable. I also loved how they overcame the misunderstanding that they had at the end of the book and how they learned that to trust each other. Great book and I’m looking forward to the other books in this series!
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
This was a different idea compared to many of the other romances I have read. There were more than a handful of edit errors. But, this was a cute story. It just felt a little flat. There is a great ending!
Content: Nothing descriptive. Just kissing Language: No language Religious: Not religious
I have loved all of Ms. Burbidge Strunk's historical books, but I loved this contemporary one just as much. I loved Adi and Ridley's meet cute. Hazel is a doll and added so much to this story. I enjoyed seeing them put their pasts behind them and finding a HEA together.
This was such a fun, light read! Ridley Westoff, a partner at Top Flight, needs to hire a nanny for his daughter and after an impromptu afternoon with Adi, offers her the job. While Ridley is sure his gut his telling him this is the right move, he isn't sure if he offered her the job solely for his daughter's sake.
This book was different than the first in the series because it focused more on the interpersonal relationships than the fighter pilot aspect of the plot, but it was worked because it fit the plot and the circumstances. I loved their slow burn relationship and the way Adi and Ridley had to learn to trust each other along the way, albeit with some hiccups.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who enjoys clean contemporary romance and is looking for a fun "beach" read!
I received an advance copy but was not required to leave a review. My opinion is my own.
This is a great contemporary romance. The story was very interesting, although it didn’t go into much detail about Ridley’s job. I also thought it was hard to believe Adi was really a model, she just didn’t really fit the image. But I really loved the chemistry between them and Hazel was a sweet bonus. I liked that their relationship grew slowly. It is a clean wholesome romance. It is part of the series, but they are standalone stores and could be read in the order. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
Bear has an intelligent 6 Year old daughter who needs a Nanny for her as he needs to work. Hazel is her name, and he adores her. His partnership in Top Flight has taken the two of them to tiny country in Europe. They are visiting an art museum, and meet Adi, a former model, now a barista but always an artist. Hazel and Ask really big it off. Despite questions Bear (Ridley) hires her as a Nanny for his daughter. Great characterization, especially the adorable Hazel. Now two down and two to go.
These Top Flight Books are perfect beach reads. They are fun, light material with a good romance. I was given Bear as an eARC by the author and this is my honest review.
Ridley and Adi were a great couple with a fantastic meet cute. They were well matched and brought out the best in each other. Obviously there was room for growth or what kind of story would it be? Ridley makes a mistake with her and has to make up for it. This was a sweet story and I would definitely recommend it and the rest of this multi-author series
This second book in the Top Flight Series, Bear: A Fighter Pilot Romance, written by Mindy Burbidge Strunk, is a wonderful addition to the series. I loved Adi’s character. Her knowledge, her love for Hazel, her goodness and kindness. She was a great fit for Bear’s character and what he needed after his trials in life. I really enjoyed their sweet and clean love story. It had a perfect ending and resolution to Adi’s problems. I definitely recommend it! I received a complimentary copy of the book. All opinions are my own and are expressed voluntarily.
Cute, clean read. Strong 4.5. Really liked the cute nicknames for Hazel. Her relationship with her dad and Adi was adorable. I just wish the author would have shown us more of the time the mcs spent together "dating" (like pushing her against the wall in the elevator and kissing her, for example) instead of just telling us about it. I also wanted some more penance or something from Ridley at the end after he was such a jerk. I would read this one again, and I'll definitely pick up more by this author. Appropriate for any age.
Super busy single dad hires a nanny for his daughter. Naturally, it’s the stunning, former model with a heart of gold. She’s trying to work herself out of a horrible situation and once he found out about it, he accuses her of being a deplorable person and sends her packing. No conversation like a rational adult would attempt. Just tells her to GTFO. I don’t know that there would ever be a sufficient amount of groveling anyone could do to earn even a tiny amount of trust back after being spoken to the way he spoke to her. She’s a better person than me, that’s for sure.
When Adi goes from model, to waitress, to nanny, her life will never be the same. Sparks fly between Adi and Ridley almost instantaneously but Strunk allows the relationship to slowly develop. Scenes with Adi and Hazel are sweet and endearing. Adelene Laurent has lived a very full life but she never lost her heart until she met Ridley Westoff. Enjoy exotic locations and a shocking plot twist that will stun. A quick read jammed packed with tender moments, silly scenes, and the love of a lifetime. *I received an advanced copy. All opinions are uniquely my own.
3.5* This was a fun story - the plot didn't go the direction I thought it would but it worked out in the end. Characters are solid, even though their development is less nuanced. The timeline skips a little bit farther than I am used to - allowing the relationship to develop over a longer period of time. Great inter-character dynamics.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
If there is one thing that Bear (Ridley Westoff) loves more that flying and Top Flight it is his daughter, Hazel. He needs a nanny immediately. Adi (Adelene Laurent) had never been a nanny but she had meet and loved Hazel and being a nanny had to beat being hit on at her barista job. Mindy Burbidge Strunk turns Bear, Hazel and Adi into a “family” without them being aware of it, until disaster strikes. You will find yourself yelling at both the adults. I totally enjoyed this book.
I am impressed with this book. Strunk writes incredible regency books and I am in awe of this modern fighter pilot romance. She seamlessly transitions. Amazing characters and great backstorys with an awesome storyline. I loved it and can’t wait for more.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Two likeable main characters in a sweet romance. They finally get their HEA after the H almost destroys the h with his assumptions and quick temper.
I did have a problem with believing that the h had been a top model. The 'bad guy' and the consequences of his actions would have been more believable had this aspect of the story been more fully developed.
I very much enjoyed this story in the series. Ridley's daughter is quite adorable but a typical child who does disobey at times. But she develops a close relationship with Adi. Things also develop between Ridley & Adi until he learns of her secret & jumps to the wrong conclusion. It's too bad there isn't anything about Ridley's adventures being a top pilot.
I have enjoyed both of these books and can't wait to read the next two. The characters are strong but caring and support each other, especially the four that own the company. The interaction with Bear and his daughter is great and Hazel is a fiercely independent 6 year old side beyond her years.
A good clean "top gun" pilot romance about Ridley "Bear" and Adelene, both needing to learn to trust again after having bad relationships, and Bear's little girl that brings them all together. This is a beautifully written story with well-developed characters, and I would recommend it/series.
Ridley "Bear" Westoff needs a nanny STAT. Adelene Laurent fills the most important criterion. His daughter, Hazel, adores her. Ridley and Adi navigate the child rearing waters while trying to not give into their strong attraction for each other.
He fell in love against his better judgement. He formed an opinion because of his past. Will he ruin all their lives or realize his mistake. Highly recommended for all readers.
my favorite so far from this series. all standalones. i read book 1 "Ace", book 2 "Bear" and book 3 "Flyboy". 2 are by Sophia Summers and 1 by: Mindy Burbidge Strunk.
