Sadie doesn't have time for finding love. She's too busy as PA for famous artist Damian Banks. When she's not arranging exhibitions, she's organising his dry cleaning or dumping his never ending stream of girlfriends.
But when she strikes up an unusual friendship with her desk share buddy, she finds a confidante and a new potential love interest. Problem is, they've never actually met...

A cute, Christmassy romance to get you into the Christmas spirit! Could a post-it note lead to love? Sadie's boss Damien is a famous photographer, and he's a nightmare to work for! The only silver lining of the job, is the post-it notes she leaves in her shared desk with Adam. Will they finally meet in person?
Ah this was a sweet, feel good book, which wouldn't be out of place on the hallmark channel! It did make me feel Christmassy, and I liked the story.
Written from Sadie's first person narrative, it was cute, and I definitely liked Sadie! She was such a likeable and relatable character! I also liked that this wasn't just a romance, but about putting yourself first, how you shouldn't hold yourself back from applying for your dream job, but to just go for it! The post-it notes which Sadie and Adam shared were cute, and I love that they left each other chocolate treats too 😍 Buuut I feel it was done better in The Flatshare 🤷
The best part of Stuck On You was, without a doubt, when Sadie went home to Yorkshire for Christmas. Her family were amazing, and I adored their quirky Christmas tradition, the five days of Christmas, featuring Dickens day, racing each other to deliver Christmas cards, a mini Winter Wonderland, and going to the cinema in their pyjamas! Whilst it took a while to warm up to the start of this book, I was addicted to Christmas on Hope island, where Sadie grew up! I would spend Christmas with her family there in a heartbeat! Her family were gorgeous, I loved her closeness with her mum and sister, and her dad was there with some classic 'dad' jokes... 😂 Honestly I stayed up late reading this part, and totally got swept up in the festiveness of it all!
However, I really didn't like the first part, where Sadie went to a wedding on an island, with some very shady characters..it felt a bit pointless, was it really necessary to the plot? It was a bit weird to say the least! I also felt like there was a lot of telling, when I would have liked to actually see things unfold. Then there was the fact that the plot was SO predictable! I know most romances are to a degree, but I called this about 20% in, and I felt my heart sink at the realisation at where the plot was going, although I changed my mind about that, and didn't mind later!
The character development of Sadie was great, but the other character who was involved did a bit of a 180, and I wasn't sure that I bought into it too much! Can a person change that much? I don't really know?! Also secrets!! I much prefer honesty in my books, but can see why both characters kept certain things to themselves, even if I didn't agree with it!
There was no steam whatsoever in this book, just in case you were wondering! It had a good build up, but then it was a PG fade to black, so if your are after some sexy scenes, you will not find that here!
If you fancy getting into some elf pyjamas, sipping on some hot chocolate, with Christmas tunes playing in the background, whilst reading a sweet, uplifting story, then give this one a go! It's nothing new to the genre, but its a fun time, in a not so fun world at the moment, and will definitely get you in the Christmas spirit! Read on Kindle Unlimited :)
I'm glad I made this my first Christmas book of the season! I really enjoyed the plot, the setting, and most of all the characters. This story has just the right amount of whimsy and Christmas cheer 🎄.
If you're looking for a book to help you kick-off the Christmas season, give this one a try. I especially recommend the audiobook, as I thought the narrator did a fantastic job. Meet Sadie and Damian, and let her family help you add Christmas joy with their quirky traditions.
Fun, feel good, and festive. Portia MacIntosh has fast become an auto read Author for me. She writes charming romcoms filled with colorful characters, witty banter, and sweet moments. Sadie works for famous photographer Damien Banks as his assistant. Her job requires her to purchase Christmas presents, break up with girlfriends, fetch coffee, and various other menial tasks. And I can’t forget spending a weekend with a wife killer. The only good part of her job is her post it note relationship with a coworker who shares her desk on the days she’s not there. SO how is it that after Sadie gets her new dream job she ends up bringing boss Damian home for Christmas?
So much fun! Sadie and Damien work wonderful characters who I absolutely adored. OK well truth be told I didn’t love Damien from the beginning but I thought that was part of the charm of the story. Just like he did Sadie, Damien grew on me throughout the book. Love spending time with Damian, Sadie, her family, and their five days of Christmas. Seriously how can you not fall in love with a guy who will wear elf ears for your family, race around delivering Christmas cards with you, wear his pajamas to the movies, and remember your favorite childhood game. I just loved absolutely everything about this book!

*** Big thank you to Boldwood Books for my gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own. ***
What a delightful read! I absolutely adored every single page! Portia MacIntosh is fast becoming one of my favorite authors in the rom-com genre.
With a witty and clever writing style, "Stuck on you" delivers a story that, though predictable (and I just loved it because of that), is full of funny, ridiculous and lovely situations, with a pair of adorable and very well written main characters. Although at first Damian was presented as a bit of a jerk I couldn't help to feel sympathy for him, as he was just a man-child.
There were so many funny and memorable chapters that made me laugh out loud, I don't know where to begin:
- The wife serial killer plot was hilarious and I imagined Mackie as some kind of Robert Durst from "The jinx".
- I almost peed myself with the Animal Crossing and turnip prices references. When Animal Crossing came out I actually had to silence the word "turnip" on Twitter cause everyone was talking about turnip prices.
- All the dads' silly jokes which, by the way, were totally my kind of humour.
- The lovely Christmas traditions Sadie's family had. Can I be adopted by them?
Once again we go back to Hope Island, and the atmosphere created there by the author is so magical, it feels like going back home.
Charming, witty, heartwarming, feel good (do I need to go on?), "Stuck on you" will make you fall in love with Sadie and Damian, keeping a smile on your face the whole time you're inmersed in their lives while getting you into Christmas mood. 🎄
Break-ups must always be done in person, that’s just the way it is –they should probably make it the law, which might sound extreme, but I’m sure it would cut down on a whole host of angry follow-up crimes.
… she really is a Karen. A middle-aged boomer with a can-I-speak-to-the-manager haircut who has lots of opinions about lots of things but none of them feel all that well thought out
‘Good morning,’I say brightly as I walk through the main office. There are murmurs of greetings from the troops but, honestly, I could burst into flames and the most they would probably do is move their plants and crack a window. I will not miss this bunch of miseries at all.
I squeal in such a high pitch I’m sure only dogs and Mariah Carey can hear me.
My Review:
This was a delightful introduction to the highly engaging wit and lively humor of Portia MacIntosh, and I’m outraged at myself for not having noticed her cleverly amusing and winsome arrangements of words before. It was so enjoyable I want to read her entire listing while hoping for more of the same. Apparently she has been beavering away with seventeen delectable books to her credit while in the meantime, I have obviously been distracted by any manner of shiny objects or pounding sand.
Stuck On You was written from the first-person POV of Sadie, a frustrated PA who was secretly seeking greener pastures away from her tediously demanding celebrity boss. This was pleasurable reading and I adored these quirky characters as much if not more than the entertaining storylines they inhabited. The writing style was wily and clever with keenly humorous insights, breezy inner musings, and snarky observations. I have a new author to fangirl and zoom to the top of my Favorites List.
Portia MacIntosh is a new-to-me author, and I'm so glad my trusty Hoopla library app introduced me to her by way of this sweet holiday romance. I've just recently learned the terms "open door" and "closed door" to apply to the frisky bits in this genre, and I'm a reader that prefers the door slammed shut (meaning, any sex happens off the page). "Stuck on You" is closed door, or shall we say candy cane Kisses Only.
When you pick up a book like this, you're not doing it for suspense. You want to spend time with flawed-yet-lovable characters as they navigate the holidays through scenes that make you feel festive. After a bit of a detour related to a true crime documentary about a serial wife killer (???), "Stuck on You" hits its seasonal stride at about the halfway point. The main characters are charming, but it's when they visit their vibrant, unique families for Christmas and New Years that the novel really made me smile.
3.5 stars rounded up. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I figured out the plot from the blurb itself and it went exactly as predicted. No last-minute surprises or sabotages and I absolutely ADORED IT for that exact reason. It may not be Christmas yet, but Portia surely makes wonders in creating a festive spirit throughout. Playful banter, a creepy beginning with a serial killer and Christmas with the family . . . she does prepare a curious mix. Unlikely love stories have always held a special charm for me and this is no different. A hated boss and an unusual friendship through post-it notes contribute much to the mystery and then there is the meet the parents part. Don't we love it all the time? (Utterly nerve-racking though it may be in real life). Christmas with Sadie's parents on an island which takes the traditions quite seriously is one the best parts in the story. Competition to post Christmas postcards, Dickens Day, Winter Wonderland and movie night in pyjamas . . . I am tempted to pack my bags right away. And the dad jokes (on both sides) are absolutely . . . hmm, ridiculous and hilarious. It is impossible to talk about the love story without some spoilers so I will let you be the judge of that. Suffice to say, this is, by far my favourite among all these author's works. Trust me, you cannot read this book without an evergrowing smile.
5☆ A Witty, Entertaining and Heartwarming must read!
I am always super excited when Portia MacIntosh has a new book out, and Stuck On You was everything I come to expect from her, there was plenty of romance, humour, brilliant witty characters, and a heart warming and highly Entertaining storyline that I couldn't put down!
Sadie works for Damian Banks, (famous artist) as his personal assistant, and you can't get any more personal than being the one to break up with Damian's Flings.... because that's exactly what he gets her to do!
Luckily for Sadie she only works part time as the rest of the time she shares her shifts and a desk with Adam who she has never met, but they share a special bond together via post it notes.
Although they have never met, Sadie can't help thinking how amazing Adam is. As far as she knows his single....so why not take a risk and let Adam know just how special he is too her. Can Sadie take a risk on love and sort her own love life out for a change, instead of organising Damian's!
My overview don't give much away, but believe me this book is absolutely brilliant! The characters are superbly written. It had me giggling out loud, smiling, swooning and kept me entertained and intrigued the whole way through. Once again Portia has written an absolute Gem that I can't recommend enough. Definitely one of my top books this year.

So. Much. Telling. I don't feel like I got to experience anything worthwhile in the novel, because everything that sounded interesting was skipped over and explained to me later, or I was told things rather than seeing it unfold organically.
2.5/5 stars. This is your typical boy meets girl, they fall in love, they get in a fight, and then it ends happily ever after. It was very predictable and cliche, but it still kept me reading.
Sadie and Damien were not well-developed. I wish there was more to their back stories. What were they like growing up? How has Damien been hurt in the past? What did he love exactly about Sadie? Also some moments were a little cringey. For example, when Hunter was introduced, I was thinking what in the world is going on. And Sadie's family's Christmas tradition just seemed downright weird to me.
Overall, a cute read, but nothing spectacular. I would definitely say spend time reading a more substantial romance.
Just pure, sweet, contemporary romance. I really enjoyed this ‘new to me’ author. The only thing that bugged me was the ‘secret’ that Sadie had. I’m not a fan of secrets.
such a fun, underrated, sweet and short read!! if it’s about christmas, I WILL BUY IT. it was not the most memorable book i’ve ever read but it was still cute!
I don't usually read romance because the story-line and the supposed 'mystery' is pretty apparent from page one. But I guess rom-coms aren't meant to have much mystery - just lighthearted fun and cuteness! The book starts out slow but picks up pace when both the main characters visit their families during Christmas. Their unique and quirky traditions, the holiday vibes, and the moments spent between our two protagonists are adorable and fun! Despite an unwanted side plot in between (a serial killer wedding?), and some stilted dialogue, this one was a nice, feel-good book with a festive feel throughout and lovable characters.
Oh I do love a Portia MacIntosh Book and this was certainly no exception.
I loved the post it note messages between Sadie and Adam, the man she shares a desk with, especially as they both seem to struggle with their demon boss Damian!
And Damian initially is a complete and utter nightmare, and I don't blame Sadie in the slightest for wanting to get a new job.
However things change and from the middle of the book onwards you see a different side to some of the characters, a real friendship start to develop and you also get a family Christmas with a family and community that absolutely adore the holiday and have various festive themed plans for the whole week in the lead up to the main day.
Including Dickens Day which if you are a fan of Dickens would be just wonderful, also a smaller version of Winter Wonderland, a competition to post Christmas cards, a trip to the cinema in pjamas and all manner of other festivities. And as a huge fan of Christmas this really made the book for me, and I was starting to feel quite festive, to the extent that I didn't even blink when I ended up watching the new Grinch film on TV in August!!
I loved the character development in this story and just the whole vibe I got from the book. I was hooked really early on and it was painful tearing myself away from a fabulous story, just to do real life things like work!
It was a joy to read Stuck On You, another top rom-com from this author.
Thank you to Boldwood and Netgalley for this copy which i have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Portia Macintosh is a brilliant writer that left me in such a great mood days after reading this book which I could not put down. I was swooning, laughing and enjoying this fun read.
Stuck On You was not only a heartwarming, fun, sexy, and a romantic read, but it was also so adorable and so creative. Macintosh wrote such amazing characters in this story - I loved each one of them from Sadie to Adam and Damien, their meet cute through post-it notes, and the whole cast of characters - they were absolutely endearing and so enjoyable to read. This book was so well written and the plot so amazing.
This book had me longing for a British Christmas holiday which was a great escape from the heat and fires here in California.
I highly recommend this book for a fabulous rom-com with a fun twist you will love and swoon over.
I can’t write an honest review of this without spoilers. And I’m basically going to spoiler everything. Not that the “twist” isn’t predictable because it’s a romance… and she only ever hangs out with one person…
Turn back now…
Okay you asked for it. The guys she is writing post it notes with and has a crush on is actually her boss, Damian. Which you figure out about 10% in but it doesn’t get “revealed” or explained until a LOT LOT later which means you spend more of the book saying to yourself “why was he pretending to be Adam” then actually enjoying the book.
The good: her writing style is fun and interesting. I loved all the Christmas traditions her family set. Some of it was funny. Yeah, that was about it
The bad: where do I begin. First off, I felt no feels. Like none. I didn’t really care much about most of the characters. When they kissed, it was sudden and then over. And somehow the MC thought it was the best kiss of her life!?! The side characters were cute but forgettable. Most of the time, the only reason I didn’t stop because I liked her page to page writing and kept thinking something would happen to make this all worth it. Like, I thought we were on the uphill of this incredibly high roller coaster, but it was really flat as a train track. The big problem I had with this book was that ultimately I didn’t want the main characters together. She had spent an entire year doing everything for him, dropping everything the wait on him hand and foot! She spends all her time with him. So much so, that she hasn’t had a social like life since she took the job. He crashes her dates, he makes her come over to wait for his TV. I was hoping he would tell her he did all that so she would quit and stop being his employee so he could date her… but he never said that. He is portrayed as being very selfish and immature. And I’m supposed to believe that one week of being with her family and maybe also realizing she was quitting was suddenly going to turn him into this thoughtful caring guy!?!?!?! That would make me as stupid as the MC. Furthermore, she has spent a year being a huge pushover for this man child. Their relationship is super toxic and unhealthy. I find it incredibly hard to believe that just suddenly changed. She has spent a year complaining about him to her post-it mate… who was actually him all along… and that never made him change. Nope. Not one bit. But suddenly when he is going to lose her he starts acting like a prince to keep her in his life!?!? That’s some manipulative bullshit right there. I mean he ever tells her flat out near the end of the book that she enjoys taking care of him! Which mean he hasn’t changed at all. And we are supposed to feel bad for him about his family digging away at him and then we realize that they just think he thinks he is too good for them. And then it’s pretty much resolved with a few sentences at the end. If you are going to give characters real issues, don’t wave a magic wand and just fix them. Sorry. And don’t have your MC finally get up the courage to get away from a controlling boss who dictates what she does with her free time ruins all her dates just to have to leave that job but end up in a relationship with him. Of course he treats his assistant like gold at the end of the book… he still has Sadie to wait around for his new TV. Ugh maybe these are just two messed up broken co dependent people who are actually happier in a messed up broken co-dependent relationship and the author was trying to convey some really deep dark hidden message that I missed. God I hope so.
Some people are gonna love this. Heck, most people are going to love this. I’m just a weirdo I guess.

Bueno, me cansé.
What a charming and delightful read by Portia Macintosh. And the book cover, WOW have you seen how absolutely beautiful cover that is? I definitely would have grabbed this book after just seeing that cover, not to mention that it was written by the brilliant Ms. Portia MacIntosh.
Sadie is an assistant for Damien, a famous photographer. Her duties include some of the most demeaning of menial tasks ever assigned to anyone. Probably the only thing she enjoys most about her job is the post-it note exchange she has with the unseen coworker Adam who shares her desk on the days she is not there, (and who could possibly be a potential love interest). But when Sadie’s unhappiness with her work causes her to find another job, she keeps it hidden from her boss Damian, planning to break it to him after the holiday. But THEN Damian ends up inviting himself along to spend Christmas with Sadie’s holiday obsessed family, and the this holiday ends up creating a lot more than your typical Christmas cheer. You have just got to read it to find out.
This wonderful laugh out loud holiday read is one of the sweetest romcoms I’ve read in a while. You can’t help but fall in love with Sadie and completely connect with her on a personal level. You will quickly find yourself wrapped up into this story and fly through it because you can’t wait to see what happens next and how on earth this crazy tale turns out. It’s the perfect book to start to get you into the Christmas mood, and Portia Macintosh has proved once again that she knows how to keep her readers happy and coming back for more. I highly recommend this book and all of Portia’s writing. What an entertaining and pleasurable read.
I listened to the audio book, but the monotony nearly made my ears bleed. Everything was so predictable, but I kept listening in hopes that the seemingly obvious plot was just a facade leading to a truly delicious twist. Nope. As bland as my mother-in-law's mashed potatoes from a box.
I'm sure the author meant for (thing) to be a twist, but it was so predictable. The last few chapters of the book were about as exciting as walking through a haunted house in the back of a group of twenty: you can see the jump scares a mile away, so you just plod along waiting for it to improve or end the suffering.
The protagonist lacked a convincing story goal. We spend most of the book w her going through these motions & procrastinating. Nobody really had much of a character arc, at least not a convincing one. There was promise w the serial killer subplot, but it fizzled and faded out with no payoff. The protagonist's inner monologue became absolutely exhausting towards the end.
Subplots? Nope.
I will definitely avoid any further books from this author. It's obvious that she just sat down and wrote this whole book without plotting anything in detail. The humor is flat and weak. The characters are annoying. There are few setups/payoffs, and those few are poorly executed. This concept had so much potential, but she just ran it into the ground. I hope she gets a better editor, because I think she has some talent.
This was a fun story. I saw the twist coming a mile away, so I felt like the protagonist also should have seen it coming and maybe just maybe totally overreacted. But the story itself was sweet and ended happily and it was a fun Christmas read.
Downsides for me: there was cussing. And there was one implied sex scene but no description and nothing graphic. Just a heads-up for those who follow my reviews and care about those things.
I had a love hate relationship with this book. By the love it grew on me nearer the end from the Dickensons Day through the Christmas period. As for the hate the characters to me were not the most likeable. In parts the story fell flat. Maybe I was expecting more and less stereotyping. I found it a little outdated on the modern woman. 2.5 stars
This was such a fun read. The whole time I was laughing and smiling from these two characters. The book has a two weeks notice vibe that I absolutely adored!! I got swept away and with the charm and wittiness these characters gave. If you are looking for a fun quirky romance with the touch of some Christmas charm, definitely pick this one up. I will be reading this author again. Thank you netgalley for the arc
2.75* Well written, mostly fun, but not very believable in the happy end it's trying to sell. And deeply problematic in the normalization of abusive behaviors way. So, why the high rating? -
I loved the family relationships and childhood stories - those parts felt like they were written with love. They added at least 2* to my rating.
Which, if you do the math, doesn't really bode well for everything else in this book. Unfortunately.
I did not enjoy the "romance" - it was terribly unromantic and cringe-worthy. Abusive boss and doormat assistant isn't really the model relationship of the year, is it? Given his habit of parading his casual sex partners in front of her and dumping the sex-partner-dumping-duties on her, I am really really hard pressed to find anything remotely redeeming or likable in that "hero". I am surprised she hasn't developed a Pavlovian gagging reflex to his appearance during the year she worked for him. Not to mention that the initiation of intimacy and romantic overtures on the boss's part seemed both possessive and revenge-motivated, especially given his cynical mistrust of everyone. It got so bad, I was honestly hoping the main character would get back together with her school boyfriend instead.
And I was bored out of my wits with the whole wife-murderer episode.
I am tempted to edit out the "romance" completely along with the wife-murderer event and make it into a short story about two adult professionals spending holidays with their families - I could see that becoming my staple holiday reread. It would also bring down the length to something much closer to the page count this book should have been.
Meet Sadie. She is a hardworking assistant to the great Damion Banks, a famous photographer in London. She does just about everything for him and hardly has any time to herself. As she accepts an art curator job the only thing she will miss working for Damion are her post-it notes back and forth with her desk mate Adam, whom she has never met and has developed feelings for. Now all she has to do is tell Damion she is leaving just as he invites himself to spend Christmas with her. What could go wrong?
This book has all that I enjoy in a modern romantic fiction book: fun characters, unexpected love and the holidays! Sadie and Damion are really well thought out characters and I found to be incredibly believable and endearing. I would recommend this to anyone who has enjoyed the recent boom in the romantic fiction market these past few years!
The Blurb : Could a post-it note really lead to love...? Sadie doesn't have time for finding love. She's too busy as PA for famous artist Damian Banks. When she's not arranging exhibitions, she's organising his dry cleaning or dumping his never ending stream of girlfriends. But when she strikes up an unusual friendship with her desk share buddy, she finds a confidante and a new potential love interest. Problem is, they've never actually met... With Christmas just around the corner, can Sadie put herself first for a change and find what she's been looking for all along?
My Thoughts : Never one to turn down one of Portia MacIntosh’s books. This once again was a winner with me. We meet Sadie, who works part tine for top photographer Damian Banks. Her job is not all honey when she is treated as someone who does his dirty work more than an employee. The bonus part of her job is sharing the job and desk with Adam, who she has never met but have a great time exchanging post it notes. But things arent as they seem. When Sadie ends up with her boss over Christmas at her parents house in Hope Island, she has a change of heart and starts to see the real Damian Banks. Will there be a Christmas Romance in the cards or will Sadie be glad to see the back of her boss. Author Portia, has a way to draw the reader into her stories, and Stuck On You was no exception. I loved Sadie and Damien as charactors, and we are left guessing throughout, with a twist that I saw coming. A real joy from start to finish, this book is heartwarming and festive, with lots of funny parts to be had that will have you in the mood for Christmas to come. Can not wait for her next book.
4.5 stars Stuck on You gave me some of my favorite things: an epistolary, workplace romance with a redemption arc I didn't know I'd be desperate for. It’s not often a romance author can consistently put in a twist I don’t see coming. I don’t expect them, I’m always here for the HEA. After having read four of Portia’s books, one after the other, I called this twist reluctantly early on. But I have to give Portia major kudos for getting me on board with it quickly. I love finding a new-to-me author to binge read their books. I’ve had Portia recommended a handful of times and am happily going to continue reading through her fantastically large backlist. I recommend for fans of Sophie Cousens and Lindsey Kelk.
A refreshingly different Christmas read with adorable characters and a very festive feel.
Sadie is PA to temperamental artist Damian Banks and on the verge of handing in her notice - but is loathe to leave behind the post-it note conversations she has with mysterious Adam, who shares her job. Sadie is yet to meet him in person.
I just loved this fun, cute read. Sadie is a sweet character you'll wish was your best friend and I couldn't turn the pages quick enough to find out more about Damian and Adam.
Five well deserved, festively twinkly stars from me!
