Stephanie Fazio is a fantasy author. She grew up in Syracuse, New York, and prior to writing full time, she worked in the fields of journalism, secondary education, and higher education. She has an undergraduate degree in English from Colgate University and a Master’s degree in Reading, Writing, and Literacy from the University of Pennsylvania.

Stephanie lives in Austin with her husband and crazy rescue dog. When she isn’t writing, she’s getting lost in parks, hosting taco nights, or ironically and miserably losing at word games, but having fun while she does it.

Purely because I did start to lose interest towards the end but, it was still great. The overall character development of Rhett was amazing and the ending was so satisfying. I recommend this series for sure as the writing is good, the characters are all unique and interesting, I loved it.

Greatest

This ended up being the best because Rhett was saved but the saddest because Samara's sister died because she saved his life. This book was a serious tear jerker, I cried almost constantly through this book. Between Rhett having Opal contagion and the emperor trying to kill him and all his soldiers and Liss and the Enderers trying to kill him and Liss, I mean, damn. Then, that warlock who wanted to kill kill all unmagical people, crazy. Great series, great book.

A thrilling conclusion to the Opal Contagion trilogy. Opal Storm picks up where Opal Slayer left off and we find Rhett, Liss and their friends trying to save the Extended and Lagonian's from Insorsil warlock. I was so happy that everything seem to be tied up in this conclusion with no loose ends. I loved that the chapters switched perspectives and we got to see more of the minor characters play a bigger role. I will say that Liss and Rhett did start to get on my nerves a bit and I'm not a huge fan of the overly played "lovers are doomed" trope. With how many lives were being lost and how many people were losing loved ones it grew tiresome to see Liss constantly complain about possibly losing Rhett and basically becoming just like her mom which she swore she'd never do. Sometimes in these stories I just wish that the characters stayed more true to themselves instead of the "one true love changes everything" deal. All in all and great trilogy by Stephanie Fazio.

This series was a beautiful fusing of magic, forbidden romance, and social commentary. It came out pre-covid, but I kept drawing connections. There is a disease that gives people with opal skin special powers. They're shunned and considered to be lesser members of society. There is a lot of fear and misunderstandings, especially where the opal (Extended) people are concerned. There was light social commentary without it being in my face. My favorite part of this book, aside from the fast-paced plot and mysteries, were the characters. Liss and Rhett have a love story for the ages, and their friends are priceless!
