This book was a single-day read and action packed from start to finish. I love that this book wasn’t afraid to give the vivid descriptions and details to paint a truly unsettling and gruesome story. Every page managed to keep you on the edge of your seat, aching for some satisfaction for the characters. This novel truly showcased the lengths that desperate people will go to and freely delved into trauma and how it can change people.

WOW! If you want a read that keeps you up at night you MUST read this book! Totally shocking, disturbing and NOT for the easily offended or squeamish. I'm not going to include spoilers because I don't want to ruin the SHOCK ending...it made me shudder and when I closed the book I felt like I had just endured a wild rollercoaster ride. I will read EVERY book that this author puts out if this is his style, because it was action packed and kept me on the edge of my seat. I constantly asked myself what I would do if I was in this father's situation and I will admit, that by the end-I was convinced that he had done the right thing and I would have possibly done the same had this happened to my own daughter. It's not overly long and can be read in a couple of hours. I also like how he speeds up the length of the last few chapters. The one thing that I didn't like was a specific scene in the book that happens around the second chapter...it almost made me have to put the book down and not pick it up again because it was so disturbing. I also don't like that this author doesn't have another book out yet and that there is no info surrounding him. I can't wait for more of his books.

I don't know where to start. Thrilling, scary, jump off the edge of your seat entertaining. I read this book in one day which is unusual for me. A widowed father lands at JFK airport and waits for his dauthger to come and pick him up but she never shows. He goes to her house and finds out what happened to her. It's one twist and turn after another and I couldn't put it down. The father is not who he seems to be and I was surprised that he was hiding such a secret. I think this book should be turned into a movie. It's like Taken but gorier and harsher. If I were to cast the main character it would be Dennis Quaid. There is a TON of swearing in this book and I don't recommend that you let your underage kids get a hold of it. Gave me nightmares.

I really, really loved this book. It was pretty terrifying in spots but I think that the story was captivating and it held my attention the entire time. I was shocked by the ending and never in a million years did I think that James Cass was going to do what he did. The characters were great and I found myself rooting for the father in this one. I didn't like the scene of James and the girl (I can't remember her name) in the closet. If he had've acted on his desires I don't think I could have looked at him in the same light. I read on the acknowledgements page that the Toronto Police department which was cool, but I'm wondering why the NYPD wasn't contacted because the book is based in New York City. Four stars for scaring the bejeeezus out of me.

Pretty intense, but the story was great. There were times when I couldn't put it down and other times in which I wanted to stop reading becasue it was so graphic. My biggest complaint about this book, it was graphic and disturbing and it kept me up at night. Don't read this when home alone if you are bothered by gore. Could have done without some of the swearing too.

I devoured this book in a couple days. It is well written and the characters leave an impact. It definitely is for a reader who enjoys the thriller genre. It did terrify me and is not for the faint of heart.

A journey into the darkest personality depths no one should have to enter. I couldn’t put it down till I was done. I can’t wait to see what the author brings us next.

I received this book in lieu of my honest review. I will be also reviewing it on my youtube www.youtube.com/aeroangie.

I had no idea what this book was going to be about. From the description I assumed that the daughter was missing. I probably wouldn't have read it or wanted to read it had I known different.

I finished this book in 2 hours. It wasn't that I couldn't put it down, it was that it was a short quick read.

It was very well written and I'm only giving it 3 stars because I suffer from PTSD from our daughter dying (while it wasn't a murder, and in utero I still get triggered). There was a lot of graphic things and details describing her death.

I found it hard to believe that the father did in fact find the killer, and then in turn killed him. He was a doctor, but suddenly he's a hit man. He had hired someone to watch his daughter, bought her a house to live in and yet didn't know she was pregnant and living with someone.

I would have liked it to be a bit longer and more focused on the obsession part. I'm still confused on who was obsessed. Was it the father? The killer? The boyfriend who was a no show in the whole book. Like if he was living there wouldn't he return when he was told his gf died?

Why would the dad want to go back there to a murder scene.

The swearing did bother me, since it seemed like it was unnecessary and way too much.

I can forgive missing comas and other proofreading/editing mistakes because, for me, story is king. The problem with this book is that the story is full of inconsistencies and dead ends. Also, character development isn’t good—the father is just not believable to me, and that’s only one example. I read on the back cover that the daughter was missing, but was she? And, who’s obsessed with her? Nobody wonders who killed Chris? Kidnapping Stephanie was for nothing? I don’t know, I finished the book feeling meh.

Finishes off the first book nicely. Well written, fast-paced, and smart. I thought the author was a man, my apologies after looking at her photo. You can tell she's got a dark side which I thoroughly enjoyed. Something about her interests me, perhaps it's that she can write so well from a male perspective.

This book was awesome. Very dark and full of action. Didn't like a couple of things about the main character's conscience and would have liked to see him perhaps go in a different direction than he did at the end. Not predictable in any sense of the word.
