Life, Integrated: A Different Approach to Traditional Time Management

Rate this book
This book explains traditional time management ("TTM"). Tens of thousands, perhaps millions of books and articles speak to TTM. They explain the core concepts – tracking your work, employing time-blocking, prioritizing, establishing quiet hours, creating theme days, grouping tasks together, managing meetings, processing emails, and participating in social media. All of these will be discussed. Despite the wealth of information available, though, most people do not have a practical, useful time management system that they employ continually. Why is that? Life, Integrated principles are introduced that provide the basis for the methodology that I have used continuously over the last 40 years of my life. These principles integrate relationship building, well-being, basic needs, career, and a secure financial future. The emphasis is on integration. All activities further the life plan. Unplanned events mesh with those that are scheduled. Work is a part of life. Creativity and efficiency integrate into each activity. Prioritization is based on importance to long-term fulfillment. The next chapter explains the critical importance of a life plan. It explains the components and shows four examples of a completed plan. It then gives you a template for your own life plan. The framework for implementing the Life, Integrated methodology is detailed. It discusses how to organize computer folders and files. It demonstrates how to set up a database of activities from which to create a weekly priority planner. It shows a calendar to be used for both business and personal needs. Chapter Five puts the Life, Integrated methodology into action. It describes the weekly review and modification of your life plan. It explains how to update and integrate your calendar and priority planner for the upcoming week. Finally, it discusses how to prioritize your activities and then perform them. Chapter Six takes on specific issues and how they are handled by the Life, Integrated methodology. Such topics include communication, procrastination, decision-making, delegation, stress, sleep, paperwork, and perfectionism. They are all part of Life, Integrated principles and practice. The hope of this book is to give you a different way of approaching the rest of your life. It involves a written plan for your future. It shows how to use this plan as a blueprint for your actions, and it demonstrates the evolution of the plan as conditions, needs, and wants change. The book provides the exact steps necessary for executing your plan. The rest of your life starts now!
