Chief Randle comes to her to see if she would take on a case that may involve gangs, corruption within the DA’s office, and even his department. He was worried and he needed to cut off the head of the different snakes that were tearing his city down.
He knew of Frieda’s reputation and her tenacity in taking down the bad guys, and gangs and fighting for the underdogs. But, when on the same day that all the files arrive and she secures them in a full-proof room. Thank goodness, because as she gets home and the feeling of someone following her was right.
She grabbed her bag and bolted. She ran as fast and as hard as she could. Calling the only people she can think of. Shane and Emma of Alliance Agency. Only the one who answers the call that night, Malco. The calls kept dropping too. She at first only wanted to talk to Shane.
But, when she came into view of the cameras at Alliance it wasn't just her. Malco saw two hired gunmen right behind her. So, he directed her to the door to come to, so he could let her in, and an alarm would alert the whole team. When he saw her poor feet and saw she was the kick-ass lawyer that helped them a year ago, he fell head over heels.
I wasn't sure if I was going to like this one. Gang wars are too close to home in the US. As there is corruption, in some of the stations that wear the badge. Unfortunately, we have also seen a rise in open bigotry in all professions, and yes the law enforcement community. And Malco and Frida’s story revolves around all of that. But, I really, really, enjoyed the story overall.
