I come from a seafaring background and, for as many generations back as can be traced, my ancestors, on both sides, were seamen and shipowners.
Although my ancestral home is a tiny island in the Mediterranean, I was born in 1951 in New York City and spent the first six years of my life on a working cargo ship with three generations of my family.
My parents moved to London when I was twelve and, having completed my education, I worked in shipping, managing my father’s ships. However, following his death in 1984, and prompted by the decline in trade due to the world recession, the business was wound up. I then worked as a self-employed financial adviser, writing in my spare time, until 2013, when my wife and I moved to Devon and I started writing full time.
My novels are about real-life events with elements of the supernatural, and are inspired by my rather unusual life experiences.
Apart from writing, I love travelling, walking, photography, cooking and reading, and I have a keen interest in mythology, particularly Greek, and legends.
