About the author

Starting with poetry, writing has always been a constant in Monica's life. The interest began in her teenage years, being in love for the first time. Her love for writing has only progressed. Song lyrics and poetry led to short stories, then one day in her down time, a short story became a 56k word novel. It has been non-stop since then. Being a wife and mother, has only added to the joys of Monica's life. Attaining a BS in Sociology, helping her better understand people and their behaviors, has only helped her become a better writer, understanding characters and their complex personalities. Romance of all types has been her passion, and she plans to continue honing her skills in that genre.

Made to Love Me – Monica Walters & Kay Shanee ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I thoroughly enjoyed this entry. Millicent and Samson are an older couple (they are both in the later 40s age range. She is 45, he is 48). Samson is serious about Millicent! The way he catered to her and assured her, idk how I couldn't like this story. When Samson left I already knew what he had in mind and to see it all play out was sweet!

Wear Down My Walls – Phoenix Ash & Courtney Irving ⭐⭐⭐⭐
It was a nice read, Blain and Izaiah fought their attraction for each other while everyone else saw that they were destined to be together.

Five Year Plan – Marvin Mason & Mycah May ⭐⭐⭐.5
Aw man that's crazy. So you come into a relationship asking about your man's intentions for y'all and he pretty much says "I do not have a five year plan, I live for today" and then you want out of that space, you turn around and he proposes. . You stay. Oh, aite.

Sip A Little Longer – Niyah Moore & B. Love ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Qai and Fox had me crying! They were a beautiful couple. my heart ached for Fox's story about his lost love and because of that experience he went away from art, but I loved the ending!! Ah so sweet!! I would visit that café if it were real.

Love's Appraisal – Wynta Tyme & Casseola Marie ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
*clapping with each word* Ain't. No. Way. Wynta Tyme and Casseola Marie blew the assignment out of the world with this entry! While reading and even now as I write this review, I am still thinking "I know you lying". 6 stars forreal. Just read it shoot. My words do no justice.

Pay Me In Love – C. Monet & Storm ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If I were in Nyelle's position of marrying someone to repay my parents' debt, and everything else that was within that contract, well.. See y'all, good luck with that. It worked for Nyelle though. With Nico's love and respect for her on sight, this story was enjoyable. Both of their parents are pieces of work.

Trippin' Off Your Love – Ash Ley & Monae Nicole ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
Monae, the FMC of this entry not the author, surely was tripping. My face with it all.. Umm Monae. I'm glad that the story didn't feature a long duration of Monae being in her head and expecting the worst because past experience. Asher just continued loving her through it all too 👏🏽

Identical Differences – Britt Joni & Tucora Monique⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Lennox deserves all the flowers, happiness, and praise. Her stepping up and bringing Layton into her home. Lennox's father isn't worth jack, I was upset whenever he'd come into the story. Layton is his child, Layton's mom is no better but still. I'm glad that Lennox had her husband, Easton, supporting her to the fullest. Also, Harlem was cute! My heart does go out to Lennon even with her making me upset for a bit during this story.

The Pact – Bree Wright & Queen K⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The way I was kicking my feet with this story!!! Toni and Zaccariah's romantic life was already set for them upon their conception dates. I already had a feeling that Zaccariah loved Toni since the beginning of time, but seeing it all play out was a treat. Even with Toni throwing that drink in his face! Lol. Oh and them having sex in the office, get itttt!!

Duo – Parker Jones & Janice Ross ⭐⭐⭐.5 (as a combined rating)
This is separated into two sections. "Regret" by Parker Jones is Cori and Keith's story and I see it as 4 star read. "Even Now" by Janice Ross is Xavier and Kelis' story. Quite a number of things are happening within this story and it felt like I was completing a Rubik's Cube which I have never done so this is a 3 star read for me.

Only One You – B. Moni & Chelsea Maria ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Kenya, the way that Jaylen loves you?! Oooh. Listen. Smh dang. But I also liked their friend group and Kenya is business owner.

Dirty Loyalty – Lex. C & B. Love ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A few things with this story. . 1. B. Love you already gave me one story in this anthology, you came in with another one??? I'm grateful for it! 2. I'm so sorry Giselle. 3. My jaw dropped when the truth was revealed. I know that's right, change your name to honor your mom!! 4. Y'all said this will be a full length novel? Alright, I'm going to look for Giselle/Gazelle and Roman's continuation story or possible series. Go off, Lex. C & B. Love!

The Shorts: A BLP Anthology by BLP Authors is amazing and wonderful. BLP Authors did a excellent job. They have their own unique and intelligent stories. It’s well written and it’s phenomenal page. I love supporting my black authors. There are love, connection, communication, committee, and etc from the each stories.

Amazing!

The authors of BLP did the damn thang! Enjoyed the different variety of stories. Was happy to see some of my favorite authors, and learned about others I was not familiar with. Will definitely await the conclusion of the two cliffhangers stories. To all of you, Bravo! 👍👍👍

I really enjoyed this anthology. It was a dope concept that provide bomb stories from my favorite authors and introduced me to some new ones as well. personally, it was a life saver for those moments of "limbo" when I was waiting on a new release but didn't want to start a full length novel. The BLP family did a wonderful job!

Good stuff

Now I have really been enjoying these short reads. It’s given me insight on the different authors and their writing styles. What I’m fuming about is the two stories that were supposed to to be continued but I can’t find the continued books. I’m invested so I’ll need this books if anyone knows were to find them.

Wow

What a collection of shorts. There was a story or two that left me saying okay, okay. Then there was a story or two that had me like wait!, Whaat? And also a story or two that were a cliffhanger and will have you await the coming full story. Something for everybody to enjoy.
