This was, simply put, a brilliant book, one of the best I've read.
The alternative reality depicted is captivatingly alike ours, with a small, yet life-altering, twist: somewhere among the billions of people on this earth the other half of your soul is walking around. You might meet them one day, you probably won't, but everyone's cursed to feel incomplete, and that is where Casey Bourne's stories take off: what are your alternatives in such conditions, how can you live with not knowing the other half of your soul, but still have a meaningful life?
Some manage, some don't. Some are raised in the unknown, some go to the ends of the earth just to encounter as many people as possible in order to touch them all until they Bond with their intended Pair.
I want to share one of my favourite lines from the book, expressed by someone who Bonds:
"... From this angle, [he] could find constellations in the freckles on her nose and give names to the individual pigments of her irises if he was afforded the luxury."
It's a beautifully written, entertaining, thoughtful as well as thought-provoking novel, and I highly recommend it.

This goes in as one of my all time favourite books, the characters and and world are beautifully crafted and I simply could not put the book down.
The themes explored and touched upon are really interesting too from class and race to politics and society but what really impressed me most was they way the theme of love is discussed - how it can be something all consuming as a pair to being something more casual, to being well intentioned however in the same breath, selfish.
Creating such a complex universe is difficult, however Casey Bourne has done it almost effortlessly, the characters contained within the pages are three dimensional and wonderfully written and you cannot help but get attached to them. I know that this is cliche, however as a mark of a great book you are taken on a journey and the ending is a fantastic payoff which I swear will make you hope the author has another book to be written.

I was drawn into the world of Tolkien as a teenager, but found other fantasy books just pale imitations. Thrillers kept me turning the pages years ago, but I just don’t have the concentration to read a whole new book anymore. I’ve re-read a few, but couldn’t cope with something totally original. Or so I though until I was drawn into this universe. The writing was immediately evocative. The narrative was rich but without the frustrating delay that descriptive or explanatory passages sometimes cause. I can’t believe I finished it in 3 days, begrudging my time away from it, but equally annoyed that I couldn’t pace it out over a longer period. I was further reminded of Tolkien when I viewed the author’s Q&A on youtube where she revealed the wealth of material that had been cut during edits; let’s hope she doesn’t wait as long as he did to publish it!

Absolutely loved this book. Couldn't put it down. Loved reading about the concept of this world, comparing the differences from our own. I haven't enjoyed a book this much in years, I can't wait to see what comes next from Casey.
