A good read. Informative in a gentle manner. Just embarking on this journey with my Dad. It’s hard! This book confirms the symptoms we’ve seen but approaches Parkinson’s in such a hopeful manner. I’ve read and highlighted a good portion of the book and will now hand it over to my mom. I recommend this book 100%.

I got it for my husband so he understood his PD better, but was way too technical. I read it; but found him a less technical, more user-friendly book.

Informative

I found two statements in the book that I disagreed with. I formed this opinion based on reading extensively about Parkinson’s disease and hearing presentations from neurologists with different opinions from this author.
“Those muscles that carry out breathing and swallowing functions are not affected.” This was the first statement I disagreed with. Swallowing issues (dysphagia) are a symptom of Parkinson’s disease according to many other neurologists and Parkinson’s information websites.
“Other neurological functions such as sensation, vision, hearing, and thinking are not affected by PD.” This was the second statement I disagreed with. I have heard neurologists say that people with Parkinson’s disease may have numbness or a pins and needles feeling from having low B12. I have heard neurologists discuss the cognitive issues associated with Parkinson’s disease. I have heard a neurologist give a hour presentation just on the vision issues associated with Parkinson’s disease, like dry eyes, double vision, and blepharitis. I have seen a Parkinson’s disease information website indicate that tinnitus may be an early warning sign for Parkinson’s disease.I personally am wondering if I have this disease so I’m gathering as much information as I can. Other than those two statements, I found the rest of the book informative.

My husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease about four years ago. At first, we followed the conventional route prescription meds, physical therapy, and regular doctor visits. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, his condition gradually got worse. His memory declined, coordination became a challenge, and daily life was growing increasingly difficult for both of us.About a year ago, feeling like we were out of options, we decided to explore a more natural route. That’s when we came across NaturePath Herbal Clinic. To be honest, we didn’t expect much. But we were surprised within just a few months of starting their herbal program, there were noticeable improvements. His alertness sharpened, his mobility improved, and he seemed to have more strength and energy.Today, he’s more active, confident, and independent than he's been in years. It’s been a transformative journey, and I truly believe this natural approach made a real difference for him. If you or someone you care about is dealing with Parkinson’s, I’d definitely suggest taking a look at what NaturePath offers. Their website is www.naturepathherbalclinic.com

Send love❤️.. My Husband had Parkinson's disease and was dealing with shakes, stiffness and balance issues – it was like his body was in rebellion. Meds ( Levodopa ) and therapies were not doing much, so we thought about trying alternative methods as we heard interesting stories about Ayurvedic herbs with this disease. We explored the path and it changed his life with all symptoms totally reversed - Shakes calmed down, stiffness took a hike. My husband is living proof that natural Ayurvedic herbs can be a game-changer in the face of Parkinson's as he is totally cured and fine now. The journey wasn't always smooth, but the results speak for themselves. If anyone out there is facing a similar battle, consider giving Ayurvedic herbs a shot. We got the Ayurvedic herbs which cured him from natural herbs centre. com I recommend Ayurvedic treatment from Natural Herbs Centre for Parkinson’s disease This is how my husband reversed his PD. This isn’t some scam or some made up nonsense.

This "Guide" for "newly diagnosed" persons with Parkinson's disease is both helpful and informative. I've read many such books in the past 6 years and this seems to be one of the most helpful. It's not too technical and not too basic. I like having it handy so that I can look-up answers to questions that I have and obtain understanding and clarification for other things that have arisen such as symptoms, questions on medications, etc. This is a good read for persons with Parkinson's Disease, their family members and for caregivers.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Parkinson's guide

My brother just passed from Parkinson's Disease (listed as the cause of death) and, sadly, my sisters' and I were unaware of the extent of his illness. He just told us a few weeks ago, "Oh, by the way, I have Parkinson's. I was diagnosed some time ago but don't remember when." My brother was a brilliant guy whom, at the time of his death, had at least 41 different medical diagnoses including heart disease, dementia and cancer. He lived a long way away from me but I long to understand the complexities of Parkinson's Disease and how that affected him over the last few years. This book, while brief, was one of the most helpful I have read so far. There is much good information about the symptoms and course of the disease as well as treatments, help for caregivers and suggestions for families and friends. Highly recommend.

There are many aspects to PD. Dr. LeWitt gives the reader a great understanding of PD and gives a new light to the actual disease. Of course, he does not call it a disease as it does sound gloomy but just Parkinson's. I am very amenable to this idea! There are some great ideas for exercise and coping which is very important. Coping for the one with PD and for friends and family. Having this diagnosis is not uncommon for many but still is difficult to swallow. Dr. LeWitt explains medications and alternative procedure and the effectiveness of each. This book is an eye opener and if you or someone you know is diagnosed with PD then is a fantastic read.

Good overview of what to expect after a diagnosis

This book is a decent introduction to Parkinson's. Like the title says for the newly diagnosed. This book is geared towards people over 55. Not the younger individuals with a Parkinson's diagnosis. But it's a quick read and has information for anyone wanting to learn about whether they need to quit their job after getting a DX (most likely no) and can a person with PD drive, what about social security and more.

Clearly written, straightforward and informative. An excellent resource. About as cheerful rah-rah as the author gets is: "Those who live with PD are entitled to realistic optimism" (loc.67).

Concise easy read

Great review of Parkinson's Disease. Emphasis on treatments and advice on living with the disease. Realizing that ease in adapting is needed as there is no cure.
