"Fire ends up consuming everything we hold dear." Those were the last words I spoke to my beautiful Plaything the night I tore his heart out.
I had no idea how right I was.
With those words and ensuing actions, I burned the last ounce of humanity I had left. I burned my second chance. And most unforgivable, I burned out the loving light in the eyes of someone dearer to me than I realized.
Cole Denton is an ocean lover who finds joy in almost all physical activities. He is especially passionate about baseball and surfing, indulging in them every chance he gets.
His other passion is writing. It began at a young age and followed him through to his time at a university in SoCal where he majored in screenwriting.
After moving to Sin City, Cole has put his knowledge and talent as a writer to work by pursuing a career as a dark fiction author. Cole is enjoying testing his kinky side, in pursuit of all things pleasurable.
Mistress is the continuation of Elise and Andrew’s story. With every Denton book you will always find a deeper meaning in the storyline.
The main character Elise was a hard pill to swallow from the very beginning for me. Andrew was one character you wanted to hit him on the back of the head to see common sense. They both are people that had a lot of flaws and needed to grow on their own. The supporting characters that Denton placed in the plot helped guide them but didn’t take over the situation.
It’s all about redemption in this story and toxic relationships. When is a relationship too toxic and even if you try, can you fix it or is it even worth fixing? Denton always keeps me on my toes, and has me wondering what he is going to come up with next. I’m patiently, ok maybe impatiently waiting for his upcoming book Slave.
I knew Elise was better than the way she was when plaything ended . I felt for Andrew and I almost felt the pain he had by the way it was described. The characters in this book are awesome and I also love Brandon looking forward to his book. The paste is quickly And vividly , the story is amazing. The hot scenes are very inspiring. Go Cole can’t wait for the next book.
“I had been an abuser. The weight of that title was heavy. I was really digging deep and recognizing so many things that I had done due to grief.
Mistress picks up where Plaything ended...a disastrous night, where Elise got lost in her anger, snaps and ignores the safe word. Can Elise and Andrew find a way to repair the damage? Disappointment, guilt and anguish are heavy loads to bear. I have found this series slow and haven’t enjoyed it as much as Trial by Fire. However, I’m looking forward to discovering Brandon’s story after reading the Epilogue.
Elise is spiraling on a path of destruction, she is in dire need of professional advice. She hasn’t allowed herself to grieve Jacob’s death, running full steam ahead into the relationship with Andrew, but hating herself for it. Realising she is an abuser is a bitter pill to swallow. Whilst a dominant administers pleasure and pain, he or she does it in a safe environment with the subs care always at the forefront of their mind. Elise didn’t heed advice and took punishment to a whole other level as Andrew becomes her whipping boy.
Whilst bruises and cuts heal reasonably quickly the long term damage done to one’s psyche takes much longer to heal. Under James gentle guidance Andrew understands that his need for pain, left him vulnerable to being abused. Now he recognises the need to slow down and be forthright in voicing his needs and limits. Trust is something earned and it will take him much longer to give it to anyone this time around.
When you find that Cole is gonna write a book... anticipation is not even close a word to describe it! His writing draws you in, the characters draw you in... the story grow and builds and although you may not always know which way he is going to go... you read each chapter with baited breath. The last book built us up, then tore us into pieces, yet we couldn't wait to see what came next. Elise did Andrew ( and all others) wrong in the Plaything...and we shattered into pieces all over the floor... This book begged the question: will she redeem herself or is she so shattered that she is a hopeless cause. You can't help but root for Andrew, and fall in love with Brandon and James along the way. The story here is so well written. Cole takes on a slow ride at first, laying the story, making us think that Elise is a goner... she finds she is so lost without Andrew.... and the letter from Jacob helps her see that maybe all is not lost. The growing of Elise and her "rebirth", make us wonder if Andrew will give her a second chance... I was so engrossed in their tale and hated for it to end.... and the epilogue...such a great segway into the next book... once again, the anticipation grows...
Cole definitely knows how to write a story to reel you in and keep coming back for more. I was so excited when Mistress was out. I was left with so much angst and worry. I didn't know how I could wait for the next one. It arrived and I was drawn in. I had to know what would happen and how Andrew who at the end of Plaything I just wanted to just care for. My emotions were filled with love and care for both our characters who grew in many ways in this book. This book filled me with a love and respect for growth of the Andrew and Elsie. My heart is full seeing love and respect shown. The most important thing is you communicate in any relationship you have be upfront and honest with everyone you will have a stronger relationship. Cole knows how to make you feel and want more. By the end of the book Brandon who you come to know more and want to guide in the right direction and feel secure with himself continues to feel insecure. What is Brandon scared of? I want to know...now I try and wait patiently until the next installment Slave. Thanks Cole for writing a story that reeled me in, makes me love and continues to makes me want more.
Redemption the action of being saved from evil. Cole Denton is a master storyteller and he takes the reader on a journey of a truly broken woman to see if she can be redeemed in Mistress: The Club Oxygen Series Book Three. In Plaything Elise's actions destroyed the last bright light in her life, Andrew. Did she ever really know him? Did she even care for him or was he just an object to take her? Will she ever be able to forgive herself for the damage she caused? But the big question is can Andrew? Cole answers all these questions and more in this in-depth portrayal of redemption. I recommend that before you read Mistress, you need to read the first two books of the Club Oxygen Series so that you know why these questions need to be and are answered in Mistress.
This story continues from the nail biting cliff hanger of Plaything - you must read the stories in order for everything to make sense. Cole Denton always delivers hard hitting emotional roller coaster journeys, this one I found to be heading up the hill in a rather hopeful fashion. This book examines toxic relationships and the possibilities of redemption. Does Elise deserve redemption? Does anyone/ everyone? Is it possible to rebuild trust? With characters that are deeply scarred from their life experiences the truth is this could go either way. Context and who you surround yourself with is likewise of great importance and I really enjoyed seeing more from the supporting characters in this book. One of the things I enjoy about Cole’s writing is the ability not only to take you to another world but also to more deeply consider the one we live in. I would urge anyone on the fence after reading Plaything to pick up this book - you may just find it to be a balm for your soul. If it’s possible I may be looking forwards to the next book even more....
Already leaving a bad taste at Club Oxygen, Elise and Andrew made a contract to have Andrew be the plaything Elise wanted to dominate, a younger man, be the top she always fantasized about. Moving into Elise's home and obeying the rules set in the contract were doable as long as Andrew could be near Elise and help her through the tragedy he didn't realize ran too deep. While still keeping her husband in the forefront of everything she thought about and how he was taken from her, she spiraled down a path she didn't realize until it was too late. Andrew and Elise had passion and when she allowed him to be the man he was, there was chemistry, but there was a punishment that came and the darkness took over. One night the darkness took over and if Andrews friends hadn't arrived when they did, Andrew may have never seen the light again. Wounds are hard to forgive, especially the deeply planted and by someone you care for.
I ended plaything with my heart in my throat, and went into Mistress not knowing what to expect. This one was all about redemption and growth, but the thing that kept going through my head was s this toxic abusive relationship worth saving. Elise and Andrew both made huge strides in personal growth in themselves. I still don’t like Elise but I do think she atoned for her behaviour. Cole did a wonderful job with the character of Elise. It’s easy to make us love someone, but to have us despise a character and still hope for her redemption. That’s next level. Mistress has a strong set of secondary characters which are more li,e an ensemble cast. James and Brandon played a big part in Andrews growth and sense of self. Can’t wait to read slave and get Brandon’s story. Interested to see what Cole has in store for us next. Definite must read series.
Wow, after Plaything I could not wait to see what was going to happen to both Andrew and Elise after what she did to him and Cole did not let me down! Poor Andrew, he was in rough shape both physically and mentally after Elise was done with him but ever so slowly with the help of James, and even Brandon he begins to heal and trust again. Elise is sorry and wanting Andrew back in her life but it's going to take a lot more than an apology to win him back. She works on her own grief and anger and even starts a counseling group for others who have dealt with such loss. Will that be enough for Andrew to learn to forgive and take her back? Well, I'm not going to spoil it for you, so grab a copy and find out for yourself. It's fantastic and you'll be glad that you did!
I swear each book I read from Cole gets better and better, and Mistress was no different. I'm straight up in love with Andrew. At the end of Plaything I was left with my mouth hanging open and needing to know what was going to happen next. My mind was just swirling! Cole delivered a great continuation of Andrew and Elise's stories. It was well thought out and written beautifully. I was cheering for both of them as this story unraveled. It was so powerful. My heart ached for both of them as they each worked through their hurt and pain to get to the healing and happy. I just loved it! I can't wait to see what comes next in this series. The glimpses of each character has me anxious for more.
Ok I’m a little late on this review but honestly it took my a while to collect my thoughts...and I’m not sure I’m there yet. I LOVE this series and Cole is an absolutely amazing writer. Elise is just someone who gets under my skin and even in this book, while she finds redemption for her darker moments in the previous books I just have to side with Brandon on this one. If you haven’t read Cole, you’ll find he elicits strong feelings from his books, which is why he is an absolutely brilliant writer! I love this book despite my feelings for Elise. Everything about it. The characters, and world you dive into are unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere. I can’t wait for the next book in the series! Get this series, don’t even think about it...just dive in!
Redemption. That is what Elise St James is searching for in Mistress. For Andrew who she hurt and wronged so badly, for Jacob who she knows would be so dissapointed in her behaviour, for the BDSM community that she has appalled - but also for herself so maybe she can learn to live again. Is it really possible to be redeemed for your sins? Elise is desperate to reach out to Andrew after the horrific events that occurred in Plaything. Andrew is determined to put Elise firmly in his past and not look back. What she did to him was totally unforgivable, wasn’t it? Cole Denton once again has me asking questions about the morality of our actions and the consequences of them. Mistress is another hard hitter from the outstanding Club Oxygen Series. It gives us deeply damaged characters with beautifully scarred souls who pull us effortlessly into their world and make us want to stay. Cole Denton’s BDSM world of Club Oxygen is an emotionally erotic, sensual experience that you do not want to miss. An absolutely spectacular book that I highly recommend. *This book responsibly carries a trigger warning.*
As always, Cole knocks it out of the park with this latest installment of Club Oxygen. The depth he gives his characters make you feel everything right along with them and this was no exception. Even though this is a highly erotic series with lots of triggers, Cole digs into the emotional side as well and, without fail, creates a well rounded story that you cannot put down. I refuse to give spoilers, so you will have to read it to find out what happens, all I can say is I can't wait for the next book! Well done Mr. Denton!!!
Another phenomenal read from Mr. Denton! I love Andrew and the end of Plaything (book 2) left me an emotional mess. I wasn't sure how Mistress was going to play out. I'm still not a fan of Elise... in fact I still hate her. I don't think she deserved the kindness or forgiveness that Andrew gave to her. Don't get me wrong I'm ecstatic that Andrew has his HEA ( as of now) but this relationship is a love/ hate one for me. I'm looking forward to the next book Slave, I really want to know more about James and Brandon... especially Brandon.
You don't know what you've got until it's gone! This was a harsh reality for Elise. She was so wrapped up in her own misery and pain, that she failed to notice anything or anyone around her fully. It caused her deep regret after James rescued Andrew, from her clutches. But this in turn helped her get the help she needed and mend the error of her ways, bringing her and Andrew closer, in better ways. I can wait for the next book as it seems another story is brewing waiting to burst! Love your work Cole, keep them comming!
This is a good book but you have to read Oxygen and Plaything first or you will be lost. This book wasn't like Cole's normal books - Some parts were skipped over leaving out parts to help the story flow and it felt rushed at times -but still a story that grabs your attention. In this book Andrew and Elise are both trying to deal with the past and move forward. Elise does a major turn around after seeking help and tries to repair all the damage she caused. Andrew is taking a vacation to work things out and get his life back on track with the help of James, Josh and Brandon. The ending to this book has an attention grabbing twist that has you wanting the next book.
Wow, wow, wow! This book kept me up until the wee hours of the morning, literally. And, then, I thought about it all day long. That's really all I want a story to do for me. I absolutely loved it. I was invested in Mistress from the prologue to the epilogue. Emotional. Engaging. Intense. The Club Oxygen Series has characters I embraced and on some level can relate to. Mistress is amazingly well-written and paced. Cole Denton knows his subject matter and writes about it with the perfect mixture of angst, beauty, romance, and hotness. An absolute must-read. Mistress will stick with me until the next instalment in the series, Slave.
I was very pleasantly surprised that this tale of these two people Ended so happily. I was so distraught in the last book Plaything how her character was going. I should have known that Cole Denton would have so many twists and turns that I wouldn't know if an HEA would happen. He gets his characters angst and emotional overloads down so well! You get all the feels reading this wonderful story.
Do you believe in second chances? Can the most heinous person be redeemed? This book will test those theories and leave you deep in your feels. Oh Cole! Why must you toy with my emotions like this? I can’t say too much without giving away spoilers, so what I will say is...be prepared to have a long torturous game of tug of war with your head and heart, both will be completely blown with this book!
If you like sexy, erotic stories with psychologically dark elements, BDSM, kink, and romance, the Club Oxygen series is for you. Cole Denton writes such believable characters navigating their way through the everyday trials of grief, trauma, lust, and love, all while exploring and indulging their deepest desires. Mistress checked all my boxes and I can’t wait to dive into Slave next!
Andrew has suffered at the hands of grief embodied in anger. He heals in body but not in his heart. He is surrounded by his friends who help but coming face to face with his attacker brings more anger and much confusion.
As they work through the issues Elise and Andrew find some common ground at last.
Mistress is a good book with lessons for the heart.
…….continued from Plaything….we continue with Andrew and Elise in Mistress as we see how they both heal and see their connection is still there though it is hanging by a thread, Cole takes us on their healing journey and watch their connection strengthen and bloom…the dark and emotion is still there…Cole did it again another fantastic book….we also learn more and become more attached to Brandon and James…..now onto the next……
I was so prepared to hate Elise and have spoken my mind about how there was no way she could be redeemed. Well I have to admit I was wrong. Andrew drew me in even more than before and I really enjoy the new dynamic between the 2 of them . Congratulations on another 5* read!
This next installment in The Club Oxygen Series does not disappoint. I like the direction the story took with Elise and Andrew, but I still don’t trust her. And Brandon, will his growth continue or will James’ history cause him to falter?
Looking forward to reading Slave, the next installment.
Don’t let the 4 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ fool you; it’s only because it’s a cliffhanger.
When we left the characters of Andrew and Elise in Plaything, they were both battered and broken. Andrew literally and Elise emotionally. In this continuing saga the author digs deeper into the characters.....the grief that both of them have suffered that draws them together but nearly destroyed them at the same time. The book is beautifully written with the story intricately woven into these two characters and their friends along with the realities of life and death and a lot bit kink for good measure.
I was glad that Elise got the help she needed and realized how wrong she treated Andrew. I was also glad that Andrew realized his mistake in not recognize g the signs of the unhealthy relationship. This book definitely made up for the last book. Thank you Coe Denton for making me one this couple!!
This story was well worth the teasing and the wait. Two people broken in very different yet similar ways finding a path they both feel worth fighting for. Its emotional, sexy, broody anger takes you on a journey of loss, pain and love and damn I still have some serious opinions on "That Woman" hehehe Absolutely five wars and more worthy.
Cole Denton, you've done it again!!! I was emotional throughout the book. I'm still not sure about my feelings on Elise, but I don't want to give any spoilers away. I clicked the next page to continue reading, only to find out, that was the last page!!!! Ugh... now I have to wait to continue to see what happens with Brandon...
There are characters in almost every book we as readers have come across that we love to hate. Those characters that push us and test us. This book is one of those books. This author does this masterfully. Each word you will grasp for needing to know what happens. I can't wait for more books in this series. I have quickly become attached to these characters.
