In the months following the death of the masked criminal known as The Dark Beast, nineteen-year-old Kathlyn Cuthbert's only problem seems to be avoiding the romantic advances of the man credited with the famed thief's demise. However, her situation becomes complicated as Kath finds herself a prisoner of a band of forest thieves and their vengeful leader. In a fairytale adaptation that combines the romance of Beauty and the Beast with the adventure of Robin Hood, Kathlyn struggles to distinguish man from monster as she faces the truth of the past and her own changing convictions.
This was a fantastic remake of the Beauty and Beast story, but it was so unique and had fun twists and turns in it, that it wasn’t predictable. The characters were great, the story fresh and riveting. I loved the setting in the woods. The story was almost like Beauty and Beast mashed up with Robin Hood. It was well-written and edited and I couldn’t put it down once I started. I highly recommend this one if you like the fairy tale remake stories. I’ve read a lot of these, and this one is one of the best I’ve read along this theme.
3.5 stars. Wasn’t a bad read. I didn’t really care for the main character for much of the book; she didn’t seem 3D and I didn’t have a reason to root for her. But I didn’t mind her by the end of the book. Honestly, I wanted more pov from Bark or Ivy, or even the sister. Fine read. Easy. I like how the author blended Beauty and the Beast with Robin Hood. The two tales fit together really well. I’ll probably read more of these books if I can get access to them. I could tell the book was self-published, but the errors weren’t glaring or frequent enough to get me to stop reading.
Wow, loved it! A mix of Robin Hood and beauty and the beast... so good! Loved the strength of characters and change within. Loved Kath, she was strong but human.. oooo and Curt, such a villain. Would put this in my reread shelf!! First time reading this author, and I’m excited to read her other books!
