We previously met Thantose in the Galaxy Gladiators series, particularly in book number 4 - Devolose. Thantose is the captain of a pirate vessel that cruises space looking for their next bounty, which is how his vessel happened upon Devolose, his long lost cousin. We get to know Thantose as a comical and stern captain who is well respected and loved by his crew. Brin was abducted at age 12 from earth and has spent the subsequent 10 years being tortured, abused, raped and sold from master to master. It’s no secret that she’s developed a lot of psychological issues from her years in captivity. Luckily, however, Brin and several other earth females were discovered on planet Paradise and rescued before they could drown in the caves they were bound in. This book starts from the last time we heard from Brin in the Galaxy Gladiators series where she lives with Thantose’s mother on planet Primus after being rejected by Thantose to share a cabin with him aboard his vessel and stay by his side. Brin has made a life for herself on Primus, working for Valeria (Thantose’s mother) and staying in her home. That is until Valeria requests a serious task of Brin and Thantose that will test both of their strengths and desires. I really enjoyed getting to know both Brin and Thantose in this book better. I especially appreciated the way Thantose handled all of Brin’s issues as a result of all of her sufferings and how he helps her develop and work through them. I found myself respecting him a lot and appreciating his strength of character. I really look forward to next books in the series!
Brin was taken at the age of 12 and forced to be a sex slave for 10 years, used and abused, she became damaged. She's rescued and finds herself struggling with her feelings, not sure if she could trust her own thoughts when she falls in love with Thantose, a terrifying looking alien. Having never known what "normal" is, she's not sure if what she wants is what is really best for her or if she's too damaged to know what it is to be loved. Thantose is a pirate who has a soft spot for Brin. He cares so much for her that he doesn't think he's the one for her. She deserves someone who could care for her, especially because she's so fragile and has already been hurt. But when he realizes that his deep love for her may very well be exactly what she needs, he's open to be her friend. Just friends. But Brin wants him to be more than just her friend. Perhaps what they need is a nudge to help them decide if they are meant to be more.
I greatly enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters. Brin's character is believable in how her experiences leaves her vulnerable because of her fears and yet still strong, because she's learned to be a survivor. Thantose is a strong, confident male who deep down is a softy, especially when it comes to Brin. That mixture makes these two a delight, watching their relationship bloom and become more. (I received a free copy of this book for review.)
Trigger warning: This story contains mention of abduction of a child, forced sex and trauma.
Thantose: Book Two in the Galaxy Pirates Alien Abduction Romance Series is so special! Brin, freed from slavery, understands how messed up she is from her abuse. She’s working through that with the support of her friends, Thantose’s mom and therapy. Thantose is such a charming pirate! He and his crew rescued Brin along with her friends and his relative Devolose and she can’t help but be drawn to him. He knows Brin likes him, but she needs healing.
He comes back to do a task for his mom in partnership with Brin. When Thantose sees Brin again all he wants is to see her smile and come out of her shell. Under his kind, caring, undemanding attention she blooms so beautifully that he is enchanted, their chemistry combustible. Thus begins a sweet, sexy, adventurous tale where the heat between Thantose and Brin sizzles in the framework of loving connection.
I adore how gently Thantose falls in love with Brin. And Brin... she accepts her damage, finds incredible strength within herself and has a deep, loving, healthy relationship with Thantose despite her past.
I absolutely love Thantose: Book Two in the Galaxy Pirates Alien Abduction Romance Series and think you will too!
Another sexy alien. I loved watching Thanatos and bring come together and seeing brin stand up fir herself and others who are being enslaved. From the very beginning the couple have some nice love friction.
This has all the feels. Trigger warning: the female lead has been a sex slave for a decade and there is the associated trauma that has to be dealt with. And they are dealt with. She does not miraculously get past them on the power of wishful thinking.
By the time we get to this story, she has spent some time in therapy and there are still multiple occasions where situations trigger her responses. The male lead is a beautiful, gentle soul, demanding that she work through her issues before she commits to a relationship with him in spite of her learned response that sees her attempt to salvage all threatening situations with sex.
The finale occurs when she is able to overcome her last and most serious abuser to save the day for them both.
I have enjoyed all of this author’s stories but really was struck by the realism of the characters’ struggles to have the female lead move past her automatic responses in traumatic situations in this one.
I also really loved the male lead’s ongoing commitment to her rehabilitation so they could have a healthy relationship - if he hadn’t, she’d have been willing to do what he wanted all the time and that would have been easier for him... but not a real equal relationship.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. The author advised it took her longer to write than expected because she wanted to get the characters right and the story reads like a punch to the gut. She succeeded.
Really intricate, empathic and well thought-out development of Brin’s metamorphosis from sex slave to lover. Loved the sexy scenes but also loved the patience of the mail and the thought process that went on in both of their heads to get both people to the point where the past was the past and they could move forward. Not so much steamy as loving, which was Really satisfying for me. I like the fact that as much attention was paid to the emotional involvement in the relationship as the sexual.
Thantose is a pirate. Pirates steal stuff. Selling items can cause problems. Thantose’s hoard gets put up for sale whilst he and Brin are tasked to go to an auction and buy a book. Brin has been a slave for years and it is up to her to act as Thantose’s owner. Brin is gradually becoming aware of her own value by having a job and making decisions of her own. During the journey to buy the book a hoard object is sold which causes a previous owner of Brin to resurface. This causes Brin to discover just how courageous she can be when the life of the one she loves is at risk. Alana deals very delicately with physical and emotional abuse issues. Brin can learn to love and trust and Thantose can give his heart away. I would recommend the other books in the series. I am an alpha/beta reader for Alana Khan and received a free ARC digital download of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I just love how this book took time to actually work through Brin’s abusive past. So many books have the heroine go from victim right into bed with her instalove alpha. Who knew a pirate captain could be such a sweet, loving Hero.
I've been waiting for this couple's story ever since the beginning. I am a sucker for space pirates. Add in a woman finding her strength and a male understanding enough to let her grow into a bada**? This book was a fabulous read and the story did Bren and Thantose total justice.
What a ride of emotions with so many twists and turns in this story but love every moment of it from beginning to end? A beautiful love story that capture your heart with plenty of action, adventure, drama, passion and a romance that is hot but not over the top with awesome characters. Definitely a must buy and waiting anxiously for the next book in the series?
This is probably the best fiction book I’ve ever read about the struggles to overcome past trauma and abuse in order to regain a life and happiness. The fact that this sexy sweet alien is the one who walks the path with her is amazing writing. Not every capture fantasy turns out with understanding and love and instead the experience is like what Brin lived. Thanatose comes to her as the exact opposite and holds the boundaries until she can relearn them herself and then he releases her power back to her in a beautiful empowering way. This may become one of my all time favorite sci- fi romance books.
Loved this book! Thantose is a caring, virile alien pirate who rescues a traumatizesd human female from slavery. Brin has been so abused she doesn’t know if she is coming or going half of the time. Thantose offers her healing, love and adventure but at a price; she has to take time to heal. I was right there with this couple! I understood his reservations and hers. It was a good book with a awesome ending.
Thantose was such a sweet and loving story of two souls that were both touched by tragedy in their earlier years. With a little nudge from a loving family member T and BB were able to work through their past pain and build a solid foundation for a loving, lasting relationship. These two were so easy to cheer for, as they navigated through some tough stuff. But ultimately the book ended with an incredible finish, making me hungry for the next Galaxy Pirate story in the series!
It’s sad to think that on Brin’s first evening of entertainment, instead of fun, she’s shocked to find herself feeling not happiness, but lack of fear. She’s trying to learn to trust, but considering her past it’s not easy. You will get caught up in Brin’s conflict as she fantasizes about Thantose, but he only wants friendship and nothing more. You will sympathize with her attempts to separate her past from her present as she struggles to not to let the past define who she is now. But what I like most, is how she learns to empower herself, so no one will ever again control her.
I loved this story! There were times when Brin's story absolutely broke my heart. However, Thantose was so sweet, understanding, and protective. My favorite part is that the trauma and PTSD that Brin suffered wasn't just glossed over or all of a sudden fixed. There are so many stories where the male comes in and fixes everything, which isn't necessarily bad, but I enjoyed Brin becoming the strong woman and not always relying on Thantose. Of course, Thantose offered support and guidance along the way. Such a great couple! I received a free advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
I always have a hard time putting down Alana’s books. Thantose was no different. He’s a pirate with a soft heart. Especially with Brin. He thinks she’s too fragile and not for him. But, a little time spent doing a favor for his mother they realize they are meant for each other and they can overcome any obstacle to be together. I know you won’t be able to put this one down either until it’s finished.
May have triggers for some. Yeah for Thantose and Brin! A kidnapped slave since the age of 12 and held for 10 years, Brin is so use to horrible treatment she doesn't realize T is respecting her. Not rejecting her. Thantose is perfect for Brin. He tries not to give in to his desires out of respect for her 'syndrome'. He left her on his home planet with his mother to recuperate from her ordeal. Neither one of them can stop thinking about the other. When T's mother ask them to go to buy a book for her at an auction, passions rise higher and hotter. The more time they spend together, Brin comes to understand that T is giving her time to know what she truly wants. Thantose is so laid back. With his help Brin is able to become BB. Ballsy Brin and find an inner strength she never knew she had! It always makes me happy when a victim doesn't let their past dictate their future. Therefore making the victim the victor! This story was steamy, sexy and funny. Who makes rules at an orgy? I cheered especially when Brin,,,,well i won't say. But i was like, 'Get him girl!' The story and backstory on both characters is well developed. HEA,
I have liked Thantose since he took in his cousin Devolose. He's charming and cocky, and fun loving. I have been looking forward to his book. I was super happy that there's more to Thantose lying underneath his bravado, he's the best fit for poor long suffering Brin. Sigh.
I really enjoyed this book. The heroine Brin had a lot of issues mentally from being kidnapped and the hero Thantose was so sweet to her and took his time getting to know her. The plot is a little slower than others, but overall I really liked this book. I receive and ARC for an honest review.
This book was amazing!! Brin character had many challenges and she had to work through them. Thantose was funny and you never knew what he was going to say or do. Loved this book it had action and funny scenes can’t wIt for the next one
Dark themed PNR w great sensual scenes - Highly Recommend!
This is the second story in the spin-off Galaxy Pirates series. While this could be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend that it be read in publication date order in conjunction with the original series. There are multiple reoccurring characters, concurrent / consecutive timelines and overarching themes that are built from the foundation laid by the first story (Zar) in the original series. Although they are recapped, there are also a lot of details that occurred previously that would be lost, as they cannot be adequately explained within another story.
** There are multiple scenes, dark themes and references to subjects that will be difficult for sensitive readers. These include abduction, enslavement, forced mating, mental health challenges, and trafficking. A high-level list is included below. **
— Although I try to watch it, if you have not read this (or the previous stories in the series), the following may contain spoilers. —
This is a very sensual story with unhurried intimate scenes that evokes all the feelings of the healing type of love, worship, caring protectiveness, as well as lots and lots of chemistry between Thantose and Brin. It has well developed characters and story universe, along with loads of action. There are some scenes with great dialogue that I couldn’t resist highlighting. As I am quickly learning must be her trademark, Alana does not shy away from the tough topics, which is why I am slowly working my way through her back catalogue and loving them.
I include the following for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow. There are a few grammatical issues, but nothing difficult to interpret. These are primarily inconsistent formatting with possessive words ending in ‘s’, incorrect punctuation and capitalization. I uploaded my notes to goodreads for anyone interested.
In this story, Brin was rescued with a few other women by Captain Thantose and his crew (scenes contained in Devolose). He informed the women they had 3 months to find a mate among the crew, or a planet to settle on if they stayed on the ship. Otherwise, they could stay on his home planet to see if it was a viable option. Brin told him that she wanted to stay on the ship with him. Thantose explained he didn’t see himself in a relationship with anyone, but regardless after being an abused slave for 10 years, Brin wasn’t ready for one either. She then decided to stay on his home planet and work for his mother.
Brin then started writing to him regularly about her attraction. Thantose remained professional and shut her down in his responses, but left the door open to be friends. Fast forward 5 months and Thantose is on his way back to help his mother purchase a book she has wanted for years. The only issue is that the planet where the auction is taking place is a matriarchal society. They forbid any ‘free’ men, so for her son to attend the auction he has to have an owner … Brin.
How will Brin deal with traveling in a small vessel with the male she poured her desire out for, in detail, on numerous communications? How will Thantose deal with being paraded around on a leash, while wearing a kill / pain collar, and at times, nothing else?
⛔️ Series contains references to, or scenes detailing, subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some, including, but not limited to: adult language; derogatory terms; mental health challenges with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, PTSD, etc.; steamy adult intimate scenes with dominance, submission, consensual / non-consensual acts, etc.; violence throughout typical of the alien abduction genre such as kidnapping / abduction, murder / death, torture, assault, rape, fighting, human (species) trafficking, enslavement, pain/kill collar, mental, physical and sexual abuse of adults and children, prostitution, coercion, etc.
Thantose is the pirate captain that has rescued several human woman from slavery he's a very sexy Primian who knows that one of the woman he rescued needs more help than he can give. So he sends her to live with his mother. Even though he thinks Brin is gorgeous he knows nothing can be between them until she heals. Brin was stolen from her home and sold into slavery when she was 12. She has been conditioned and abused for years. She knows she needs to heal but her attraction to Thantose is deep. For months Be in begins the healing process and lives with Thantose 's mom. His mom calls him back and asks him and Brin to go on a mission to purchase the galactic version of the Kuma Sautra. This starts a journey of healing and love. Where a young women learns what it feels like for someone who truly wants to take care of her and see her grow strong. Watching Thantose and Brin's !I've story unfold was beautiful and healing . It shows passion can be slow burning and explode when the time is right and there is just the right amount of justice as well. A great read💖💖💖💖
Little iffy on this one. I dont think it was handled POORLY. I just think the time line was way too condensed for this level of trauma and what this girl would ACTUALLY need to overcome in order to get to a safe space just within herself. At times the author has thantose acting as her therapist which makes the entire dynamic of the relationship tipped in his favor as far as authority goes. I didn't hate it but even for a fantastical read it moved way too quickly and far outside of what a person would need to heal. It made it very unbelievable and way too hard to connect to the story.
I would also hazard to guess that a lot of people would probably read this and think it was well thought out. Handled the trauma great. Moved the story a long with care.
I dont think she healed enough on her own for the story to not be very cringe worthy.
Brin is such a sweet innocent woman even though she has been a slave for 10 years to some of the worst scum of the universe. She of course is rather dracked up after her long abusive spell of captivity. She was taken as a child and the creeps taught her to do anything that their sick minds could come up with. Thantose is a happy go lucky pirate. He accidentally saves her along with several other human women. He ends up taking care of her for a while and then leaves her with his mother. How this poor girl remained so pure of heart is a miracle. Needless to say he makes her stronger and she makes him softer and super protective. It seems mothers everywhere con their sons into a having a relationship. Thantose's Mother pulls a big con on both of them. What Mothers won't do for their children. It was so comical. I loved it. Story was a joy to read. Kathy
I very much enjoyed this book. I felt that Brin's emotional conflicts were honest, as a person suffering, from the aftermath of sexual abuse. Her actions as a confused young woman trying to put her past behind her, while trying to find love in the present were touching. I felt that Thantose must have the patience of a saint. Keeping to his go slow game is in some cases a little unrealistic, but as an alien having been raise by a female, this may be normal for him. I appreciated that Thantose had his own personal history, that he had to work through as well. I felt Brins transformation from victim to heroine, was what I appreciated most in this book. I enjoyed this book immensely. I downloaded this book from another site but these are my own thoughts on this book.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Thantose is a great male, the best pirate hero. Brin is a beautiful, horrifically broken young human woman who was kidnapped from earth at age 12 & forced into sexual slavery for 10 years. She has PTSD & Stockholm Syndrome & a lot of triggers.
This book has trigger warnings ⚠️ & that's good because it set me off several times. It's a story that needs to be told, but it's a hard story in many ways.
Watching all that Thantose does to help Brin, to be her friend & help her find her smile, her laugh, to encourage her to identify her triggers & find ways to overcome them is beautiful. The love that builds from their friendship is beautiful.
This story also has laughter, beauty, healing & powerful love.
We finally get BRIN'S story. It is truly a very sad story indeed. ALANA KHAN handled this story I feel with a great deal of sensitivity. Her character THANTOSE was extraordinarily patient and considerate to BRIN'S needs. THANTOSE was constantly putting her needs before his wants. This wasn't the most exciting story, but it was a story that needed to be told. Thank you for the insight and explanation into BRIN'S thinking process. ( I did receive an advance copy & I gave my honest opinion)
p.s. I AM SO WAITING ANXIOUSLY WAITING FOR SSLY'S story (GALAXY PIRATES SERIES). . . omg...omg. .omgoodness !!!!!!!
