Once upon a time, the Vlasta Vipers hockey team was so incredible — on and off the ice — they were almost mythical.
Rightfully, labeled as legends.
Affectionately, worshiped in the sheets like rock stars.
However, when their glorious reign came crashing to an end, the idols lost much more than their treasured titles.
They became the laughingstock of locker rooms.
Oh, and of course, the punchline to every bad joke on campus.
Puck Bunnies continued hopping into their beds because, well, that's what Puck Bunnies do.
All hope seemed completely lost until last season when a new head coach emerged to help put them back on their golden thrones.
Problem?
Tucker Gillette, the team's right winger, is causing so much commotion off the ice — instead of just on — that new rules have to be added to their code of conduct to help ensure another season of victory.
Don't sleep with other athletes — their coaches hate it. Don't drool over the team's mascot once you realize it's a fine AF, flexible female instead of a freckled freshman.
And, definitely, don't try to date said mascot or fall face first in love with her simply so your brother — who is the lead singer in her favorite metal band — can't.
Will this right wing troublemaker become a champion in the game of romance, or will this be his biggest loss yet?
I believe The Forward Must Cry has become my favorite book by Xavier Neal. I enjoyed Mo, the heroine of the story, she was not physically or emotionally described as the cookie cutter heroine I have become used to in other IR romances. Thank you Mrs. Neal for that. Gillette seemed to be your stereotypical jerk but you soon learn that there is another softer side to him, that he is not afraid to share with Mo. There are so many laugh out loud moments in this book and then she hits you in your feelings and you just want to cry. Again she delivers on character development, grabbing and keeping your attention. I highly recommend The Forward Must Cry.
The Forward Must Cry is my favorite book out of this series! Gillette is a hockey God that is cocky, full of himself, and has one liners that left me giggling. Mo is a little firecracker that will tell you how it is. There ain’t no shame in her game what so ever! She is probably one of my favorite female characters that Xavier has given us! She not a sappy girlie girl. She more of a GI Jane and I love it! Gillette and Mo’s journey was so fun to read. The sex was off the charts, there banter between each other was unreal! Learning to trust one another, and having each other’s back was a strong suit in this story. They are amazing and compliment each other so well. When one falls the other is there to pick them up. This book is going to grab you by the heart strings, and leaves you wanting more. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the boys have for us!
Oh, THE FEELS, Y’all!!!! Mo and Gillette, gave them ALL to me!!! Mo is an amazing heroine, and Gillette is just like my husband, he’s rough until Mo and then he’s a teddy bear for her!!!! This book was absolutely fan-freakin-tastic!!!!!! Xavier Neal just keeps rocking my socks off time after time with ever new release!!!! She has an unbelievable, God given talent as an author!!!! Five stars is NOT NEARLY ENOUGH!!!!
Every single time I think the next Hockey God can't possibly top the last one, and this author goes and proves me wrong. While I have loved each of the books in this series, this one just connected with me a bit more and I felt that Gillette and Mo were really something special. Often we talk about opposite's attracting but these two had so many similarities it was astounding. I love it when characters have baggage. I think it just makes for a more realistic and emotional read. After all, aren't we are all just a cumulation of the baggage we carry? This was extremely evident in who Mo and Gillette were, how they thought and the actions they chose to take. I love that I can rely on this author to always create characters that are more than you'd expect, while still being easy to connect with, to feel for and to want to champion. The book is well written and I found the story captivating. I stole every single free moment I could to keep reading. A brilliantly crafted blend of intense emotions, humor, drama, heat, heart and poignancy flow across the pages and will have you completely engulfed by and invested in this amazing couple. I've just finished this book and I'm left desperately craving book four. This is my sincere review that I am posting of my own accord.
I loved Mo and Gillette! They are both athletes at the same university. He is a hockey "God" and she is with the cheer squad. He is used to girls falling all over him but Mo is definitely not like that. Their relationship has a great give and take. They push each other's buttons and are two very competitive people. I love both of these characters because they are blunt and straightforward. What you see is what you get. They seem like they might be too much alike to work but below the surface they share so much. The things they share help to create a beautiful bond and a wonderful story. I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I never expected Mo and Gillette's story to give me all the feels. Gillette is a self-proclaimed God in the sheets, But when he sets his eyes on Mo, everything about her is different from all the other girls. I entered this series late in the game, but I really enjoyed reading this amazing story.
Right from the beginning, you get a feeling that Gillette is more than what he is showing everyone. Same can be said for Mo. What happens when the two of them find each other? Pure magic. She makes the star forward work for something he never had to before and want more than he ever has. He makes her realize there is something she never realized she wanted. This story has you on a rollercoaster of emotions that you don’t want to get off of! It brings the characters from the other books in the series in and shows the true love of the family you choose, despite or with the family you are born in to. Another great story by Xavier and I cannot wait to get more from this crazy bunch of hockey players!
Absolutely loved this one! I had a great time reading the back and forth between G and Mo. The way they could play off of each other and just connect so well had the story flowing and increased my love for these characters. There's emotion, there's laughter, there's heat and of course, an overall story that pulled me in. I loved the heart of the story. It's a must read book in a must read series.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Another hockey God to adore!...every time I think Xavier can’t possibly top the previous Hockey God she goes and proves me wrong. G and Mo are great, they are strong characters and really work well together, it’s not an easy road but they managed it. So far I have really enjoyed all of the Hockey Gods series and each book can be read as a stand-alone too.
The Forward Must Cry by Xavier Neal is the third in the Hockey Gods series and they just keep getting better!!! I absolutely love this hockey family and Mo & G have become my new favorite. Terrific storyline, fantastic characters and really just an amazing read! Highly recommend!!!
Xavier Neal is relatively new to me but with each book I pick up I find myself wondering why she hasn’t crossed my radar before now and I find myself hoping I find some time to play catch up with her books. The Forward Must Cry is book 3 in the Hockey Gods Series but it can certainly be read as a stand-alone, this is Tucker and Mo’s story and it’s story that will appeal to all hockey lovers. Tucker plays for the Vlasta Vipers hockey team, he is a player on and off the ice and that gets him in all sorts of trouble can Mo be the calming influence this player needs, can she tame the bad boy of hockey and will Tucker trust her enough to show her he can be vulnerable as well as cocky ...... This is a book with a lot going for it, I laughed, I smiled and I sighed as I got to know this couple. It’s a well written entertaining read that I recommend to all sports romance lovers as well as hockey romance lovers. Looking forward to reading more from this very talented author
4 Star Review The Forward Must Cry (Hockey Gods #3) by Xavier Neal
Xavier Neal is a relatively new author to me. This is Tucker and Mo’s story and I found it to be well written and entertaining.
Tucker is a right winger for the the Vlasta Vipers hockey team who lands himself in a whole heap of trouble on and off the ice. Mo, is the woman who manages to tame and calm the bad boy of hocked down. I really liked Mo, she is not afraid to call a spade a spade and was sassy. There were times that Tucker seemed too arrogant to be likeable, too much of a jerk, but thanks to Mo, who drew out another side to him, it made it easier to relate to him.
The banter between them was great and I found myself laughing at loud on numerous occasions as their relationship developed. This was at times an emotional read that I had trouble putting down.
Gillette and Mo's story was amazing. Their competitive nature showed their compassion while their issues with trust showed vulnerability. I love the nicknames and how the characters are so real you could be friends with them or know someone like them. Loved it, a great compliment to the series.
I was given this book in turn for an honest review.
Neither Gillette nor Mo were looking for anything long term. As their time together grew, so did their undeniable attraction and chemistry. Will they win at romance, or will their insecurities come between them?
I am loving this Hockey God’s series! Book #3 is a fabulous, fun, romantic story, that held me captive from start to end. Xavier Neal has written another brilliant story, one with depth, that has your heart aching for the agony the characters had grown up with, the loss, the pain, the hurt they had suffered. I want to hug them both, tell them how amazing they both were.
Although, they had, had moments of darkness in their pasts, neither was unable to find fun, and light in the life they were living. They lived for the moment, for the memories, for the fun times, whilst putting their everything into the careers they wanted.
This story is full of fun and sweet moments. Gillette and Mo were both competitive, and their challenges would always end with one of them in an hilarious scenario. I loved how fun they were together, and their chemistry was off the charts!
If you love sport romances, then this series is for you! Each book can be read as a standalone.
The Forward Must Cry is the third book in the series. While it isn't necessary to read the first two before this one, I highly recommend you do because this series is a 5 star Hockey read. Expect love, sex, cocky hockey "players", feisty women, hockey family and an emotional journey.
This book in particular is about Gillette and Mo. These two are similar in many ways which usually don't work in romance but actually works for them. Mo is nothing like the Puck Bunnies that player Gillette has had before. She is a loner, feisty and holds nothing back except her trust. That trust is something that is hard for Gilette to give freely as well. Watching (or rather reading) how their journey unfolds was emotional. Read to find out if Gilette can find room in his hockey family for Mo and if she can trust him enough to not break her heart.
Each book in the Hockey Gods series by Xavier Neal is better than the last. Gillette and Mo's story - best one so far, and Ms Neal's going to have to work hard to top this. But I have the feeling she's up for the challenge. I can't wait to read the next one to find out who on the team is the next to fall. That is the mark of a great author - she satisfies but yet leaves you hungry for more.
Another awesome addition to the Hockey Gods series, and one you won't want to miss! The next teammate to catch the bug is Gillette, and Mo is the woman to catch his eye. Watching these two come together and become a couple is a fun and sexy journey, and one you won't want to miss! These two characters compliment the other perfectly and seeing their relationship evolve is a ton of fun!
What an amazing read, you always knock me off my feet when you write the next story of a certain series. The next story always puts the icing on the cake if you know what i mean. I can’t wait for more wonderful words from you.....
I’ve only recently began reading hockey romances and this one just blew me away. The perfect amount of hockey and story, with characters that are just brimming over with personality and heat.
Is this a must read? Only if you want a book that will make you want to read it again and again
What can I say other then I love G and Mo. Even from the other books in the series, there was something that drew me in to Gillette. I love that we got to see such a vulnerable side to him. And you truly see why he is the way he is. And Mo. That girl is the sh**. She is unapologetically herself, and I love it. And to see see G find his match in Mo. Love it!! Great Great Book!!!

I love this book! Its hilarious and honest. G and Mo are balls to the wall honest and can take whatever is thrown at them. I love their banter and their humor. They both compliment one another mentally and physically and in the bedroom.
This is Gillette & Mo’s story. Mo is my favorite character in this book. She’s tough & calls things like she’s sees them, this is just what Gillette needs at times. I’m so looking forward to Neals next book. These two will win you over!
Gillette is something special. His perspective adds a naughty lens to the story. He’s fun and entertaining, cocky with a capital C the way his mind works and his jokes made me feel at ease and drew me in. I can’t deny I was lost to him since the first page and enjoyed it more each moment. Mo’s banter game is pure fire, well basically everything about her is. Watching them go toe to toe was enthralling. The little peeks at their vulnerability were beautifully crafted. I was swooning all over the place and lusting after both of them, their chemistry is off the charts. Their bodies are fueled by pure pleasure. The characters are well built, utterly adorable, and carry with them a strength that left me breathless. From the first page you know the jokes fly quickly and the emotions run high but it’s the love I felt for the story and the connection I had to the characters that truly put this tale over the top. They wrapped me around their little finger and I was happy to give up control of my heart.

With an Xavier Neal book, you are never dissatisfied, nor disappointed.
Gillette's, the right winger for the Vlasta Vipers. Cocky, A Dark sense of Humor, Troublemaker and sexy.
But there is one thing Mr. Scoobydoo wants, and that's "Mo".
Mo is one Hot tamale and my Favorite of all Mrs. Neal's female Characters. She is spunky, and not your typical Girly Girl. The banter between her and Gillette had me in Stitches.
There emotional journey had me crying buckets, but when they finally got it together I was doing a Homer Simpson dance like no other.
Xavier my love you are truly Gods creation. Thanks for writing these Delicious, Amazing stories.
You Rock. Until next time.

This is book three in "The Hockey Gods" series and can be read as a standalone.
Gillette and Mo are literal perfection. I absolutely loved their banter and dynamic. The push and pull of their relationship was fun but full of heart. Both of these characters come from painful backgrounds and carry childhood wounds. To see the two of them work together collectively and individually was such a special part of this book.
The writing was clear, concise and linear. The book captured my attention right off. This book was written with witty dialogue and heartfelt moments. There was plenty of steam and some moments where I wanted to strangle the characters. I get so enmeshed with Neal's words.
I adored seeing the characters from the other books in the series as well as from other books. It's always a treat when Neal interwines her book worlds. The epilogue was the absolute icing on this cake!
The forward must cry is the third of the Hockey Gods series. What can I say... these books just keep getting better. Loved the chemistry between Mo and Gillette. Mo is such a strong sassy character. I love her confidence. Gillette is our resident playboy, who no one can resist. Together they are on fire. Such an amazing read I was given an ARC but voluntarily chose to review
I don't know whether to cry happy tears or pout. Binge reading is therapeutic but also traumatic. I got caught up in all the Hockey God awesomeness and am now left hanging.
I'm going to need to find a Galleria, some poutine, and try terrible sounding fireball and whipped cream shots! Xavier Neal. What have you done to me!?!
Sigh. There is so much baggage to unpack in this book. So much hurt, history, and love that it's impossible not to be sucked in. As a hot mess of all the above myself, I really clicked with G and Mo. Their hate banter and competitiveness are an ember that makes their world catch on fire. With enough air and fuel, they will consume everything.
The Forward Must Cry is a tense and still very sexy read. The on edge emotions, the push and pull make it an "edge of your seat, hold the arm rest, someone is going to screw up soon, how do we prepare" read.
This team will have your back, your front, and your wings- just don't steal the poutine!
Amazing amazing amazing. G and Mo are definitely made for each other. I love how this hockey family is coming together. They love hard and they love fast and that’s good when confident and passionate about who they love. Getting over they’re fears and defeating them is what I have loved about the Vlasta family and adding Mo and G has just made it more love able. #anotherone

Another One!!!
I absolutely loved Gillette and Naomi. The way I’Moan was able to leave Gillette tongue tied was hilarious! The chemistry between the characters as always was very hot and tasteful. Even though Gillette is a day the first thing that comes to his mind kind of guy he met his match with Naomi. I like the Gillette was a lot of talk with a whole lot of heart. I love the way the Vlasta family is coming together they are great together and they all have the unique differences that make the one of a kind and special. Great job Xavier Neal!!!!!!
