Hello. I'm Simon - the other half of the Disaster Twins or the Terrible Two depending on who you ask - and I'm returning home after a ten-year hiatus. While I'm excited to see my partner in crime, everyone else can kiss my ass. We had a lot of fun together despite being the two most disliked people in school. Vera is an adorable klutz and I was considered to be socially awkward. "Weird" is what they called me. I'm still weird, but now that I'm rich and attractive, I get a lofty upgrade to "eccentric." I'm only returning to reunite with my best friend and serve as a visual "f**k you" to all the girls who laughed at me. Especially Grier. She never insulted me; what she did was worse. She would be my friend and charm me when no one was looking, then pretend she didn't know me in public. I'm not a toy and I hate when people play with my emotions. In retrospect, I was wrong. I have three reasons to return. What's my newly added reason? To revenge f**k the Prom Queen.
Francesca Penn lives in Texas with her husband and son. While obtaining her Technical Writing degree, a creative writing course and play-writing elective reawakened her desire to create stories. Her brain lives in fiction; even the songs she listens to become music videos in her head.
When she is not writing, she can be found hounding her loved ones with multiple "What-if" scenarios. As a true closet romantic, she is prone to filling up her DVR with Hallmark movies. A friend once told her that she'd trained the whole 20 plus years she'd known her to write romance since her nose was always in a love story.
Francesca believes that love is colorblind and plans to provide a mix of couples of different races and ethnicities because - to her - men are like Skittles, and we all know their motto.
4.5/5 The feminist in me was disappointed in the way the FMC let the MMC treat her. The hussy in me was entirely on board for that shit. I will not be elaborating.
Simon thought he wanted revenge against the only woman he ever loved who hurt him as a teenager. What he realized at their ten year high school reunion was that teenaged boy never got over the hurt and his revenge slowly evolved into a second chance at love. Grief finally got th3 chance to grow up and stand by the man she loved.
I could not get into the story in the beginning. The whole revenge thing did not set well with me. Simon's character was so cold. But I guess when one never gets over hurt as a teenager it makes one that way. Grier's character seemed really desperate and was willing to let Simon treat her any kind of way which is a trigger for me. But once everything was in the open and sincere apologies given, the mood of the book changed to one of true love and grateful for that second chance at grabbing their HEA!
This novella gave me everything I wanted and was the perfect length. We have Simon and Grier who were together in high school but didn't leave for college on good terms. They are back together for a reunion and the sparks fly immediately. You would think a story this short wouldn't be able to give you a sufficient back story but you would be wrong. This story had the perfect mix of past and present. It also had the perfect amount of kink. Can't wait for more from this series.
Didn’t finish. Didn’t care for either of them after reaching maybe 40%. Couldn’t get a proper understanding of her and he seemed petulant/immature. Maybe not surprising for 27/28 year-olds🤷🏾♀️. Then, it seemed like he was gonna get into some bondage…assumed it would be light stuff but it isn’t really my thing so tapped out. Would only have continued if I’d liked the characters. But I didn’t. Like the author overall though.
Granted, I wasn't pulling for Grier. However, I'm happy how the book came together. If it's meant to be, the wounds will heal and the love will rekindle. Heck, the second time around love can be a dang inferno that only the ones who are meant to be can withstand lol Again, I say don't sleep on the nerds. You may be surprised. You might get a hidden fifty shades of grey if that's your cup of tea *wink, wink*
A nerd good slighted by the pretty girl and ran away. His feelings were hurt and he left. Fast forward 10 years to the reunion. Not only is the chemistry still there, everyone can feel it. Class reunion, couple reunion, truth is told and all is well. Fun book, quick read.
I really enjoyed this story and the characters were very entertaining! But the sex scenes were a little over the top for me. I loved the chemistry between Simon and Greir was smoking hot 🔥! Loved that they both found each other . I highly recommend this book to my fellow romance readers you will not be disappointed.
Ultimate get-back-at-someone-for-high-school-drama tale. For some reason I pictured Ashton Kutcher and Zoe Saldana as the characters. Maybe because Simon was also Ashton’s name in the movie Guess Who. Anyway, it works! Great unrequited love novella!
This is a redemption and forgiveness read and how people can treat a person based on their so call station in life then find out how wrong that is and love conquers all
This read was really good. There was a great plot, character interaction and the flow was easy. Simon wanted revenge on Grier who broke his young heart in high school. He is determined to bring her down, but it doesn't turn out that way. I recommend this read as well as the entire series.
