To get back in the good graces of the Company, Lucky takes a job that looks simple Take an avowed assassin to a drop off location, pick up new crew, and head out a little richer than before.
But nothing can be that easy.
The drop off point is in the middle of a civil war, his new crew are cold-blooded killers, and the melancholy giant he's transporting has a secret plan of his own.
It all adds up to disaster for the crew of The Last Gasp.
Not that Lucky—or Rocky—would expect anything else.
Reloaded is the fourth book in Lucky's Mercs, an action-packed new series that reads like an unholy union of Starship Troopers and Firefly.
Lucky and crew have a new contract from the Company: transport a Company agent to a specified destination and collect payment for the job. Easy, peasy, right? Not so fast...this is Lucky Savage we’re talking about!! Their tiny ship, the Last Gasp, had a new AI which was straight Company business and gave the crew only bare-bones information about the contract. The agent turned out to be an old Company assassin. When they reached the destination, it turned out that they were to pick up another passenger, who was also an assassin, and they were to be delivered to a different destination. The assassins had worked together many years earlier, then it developed that they had bad blood between them, and that the old one had been the top agent, then had been replaced by the younger one. The task at the new destination, wasn’t meant to be a drop-off; now Lucky had to accompany them, which put Lucky in harm’s way. And so it went – each step brought out more information, but never the entire story, which, of course, meant more grief and pain for Lucky and crew. This is a well-written and humorous story with strong characters and lots of action, which kept me turning pages to get to the next misfortune. I received an ARC of this book; this is my honest opinion. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and am eager to read the next installment.
Lucky is back and supposed to go on a simple transport trip but of course things go wrong. I laughed and groaned but was wildly entertained. The action was a blast and really had my fingers crossed that Lucky would by Lucky. The characters that show up this time were fun too. Just a great adventure for everyone
Received as an ARC copy, this is an honest review. A simple mission becomes a near descent into hell for Lucky Savage and his crew. The drop off mission puts everyone into the cross hairs of two crazy assassins and a psycho called Ophidian that wants everyone dead. This story possesses the most crazy action and characters this series has introduced. Highly recommended.
This book was a quick read. There is almost non-stop action but not in space. At times it seems that if Lucky did not have bad luck then he would have no luck at all. It all comes down to the end.
