Jonah thought his life was finally back on track when he agreed to stay in the Amish faith and planned to marry his love, Mary Lou. The bliss was short-lived because Mary Lou fell into a coma.
While waiting for Mary Lou to awaken, Jonah tries to make amends with his past and prepare for the future. Jonah enlists the help of his childhood best friend, Samuel, to build Mary Lou’s dream house. Samuel convinces his younger sister, Catherine, who’s now all grown up, to help as well.
Will Mary Lou wake from her coma? Will Catherine’s presence distract Jonah? Does God have other plans?
Now an Amazon bestselling author, Sylvia Price is an author of Amish and contemporary romance and women’s fiction. She especially loves writing uplifting stories about second chances!
Sylvia was inspired to write about the Amish as a result of the enduring legacy of Mennonite missionaries in her life. While living with them for three weeks, they got her a library card and encouraged her to start reading to cope with the loss of television and radio, giving Sylvia a new-found appreciation for books.
Although raised in the cosmopolitan city of Montréal, Sylvia spent her adolescent and young adult years in Nova Scotia, and the beautiful countryside landscapes and ocean views serve as the backdrop to her contemporary novels.
After meeting and falling in love with an American while living abroad, Sylvia now resides in the US. She spends her days writing, hoping to inspire the next generation to read more stories. When she’s not writing, Sylvia stays busy making sure her three young children are alive and well-fed.

I have always had an interest in the Amish community. There are times I wish I was. They lead such a simple life then again a hard life at the same time. I can understand how they turn to God. Their faith is beautiful. This book is no different. It's a beautiful story about death and how to deal with it. It so beautifully written and it touches your heart. I have read books 3 and 4, I cannot remember if I read 2 but I just got book 1 so I can read it. These books should be read in order. Wonderful book!!
Oh no more tragedy is in store for Jonah as Mary Lou has a setback and is now in the hospital again but this time in a coma. Jonah is left to wonder if he really is cursed and should he just leave her or wait for her to return to him. He can't stay at the hospital with her and he has lost his job with the theater group so he tries going back and forth. He has returned to his fold and is planning on the two of them being baptized and married so he can no longer drive his vehicle nor can he afford to pay a driver. This means that he needs to travel a long distance by horse and buggy and it is not only tiring but hard on the animals. Jonah ends up returning to his best friend and asking for help to build the perfect house for Mary Lou. He feels that when she awakens he will need to have it ready for her. He has been working on the home, going to the hospital as often as possible and he is completely exhausted from it all. He is at his lowest point and feels like nothing will ever go right so he decides that it doesn't matter anymore and goes to town to get a bottle of liqueur. Jonah of course has never drank before and ends up getting really drunk and returning to the house he is building. Samuel his best friends sister is at the house and she has broken up with her fiance. She is really upset and feels that maybe the crush she had on Jonah should be rekindled. They are standing talking when Jonah trips and at that exact time Mary Lou's mother appears. She thinks she knows what is going on but it isn't. Jonah gets angry and climbs to the top of the house to ask GOD why he continually is being tested. It is during this horrific storm that GOD answer Jonah and we find out that through his faith things will get better. This series is a must for someone to read. It is so good and Sylvia has put us right into the story with the characters. Although it is late I have to finish their story so on to book 5.
Jonah's Redemption book 5 picks up with Mary Lou in a Coma and Jonah rattling around his Father's house still trying to resolve his grief over the loss of his sister.
Jonah's best friend, Samuel and he have made up after a long separation. Samuel's sister, Catherine, joins in helping Jonah get a house prepared for when Mary Lou comes home from the hospital.
But, things are not what they seem. Catherine, whose fiancee, Josiah is in his home community helping his Father, confesses to Jonah that she used to be sweet on him.
When Jonah draws up plans of the house he wants to build for Mary Lou, Catherine offers to do a fundraiser to cover the high cost of materials.
Somewhere down this path, Jonah makes a life-altering mistake. Will he be able to survive his actions or has he finally succumbed to the curse he's convinced he's been living under?
This was a very exciting installment, quite a few plot twists that I didn't see coming. And, at the end, the circumstances are very much unresolved, making me anxious to read the next book.
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the fourth book in the An Amish Romance series. In this book, Jonah is trying to rebuild his life while Mary Lou is in the hospital in a come. Jonah asks his friend Samuel to help him build a house for when Mary Lou comes home and they marry. Jonah is trying to stay positive and praying for Mary Lou. When Samuel's sister Catherine visits the building site with food for them, she confesses she used to have a crush on Jonah. Jonah is conflicted about his feelings for Mary Lou and Catherine's confession. I am really enjoying this series so far. Jonah is a strong man, but his faith is being tested again and again. I think he really loves Mary Lou and wants to marry her, but he is feeling helpless and hopeless with her still being in a coma. Jonah doesn't know how to handle his feelings and i think he makes mistake after mistake. I look forward to reading more of this series.
READ the first three books first!!! --> I enjoyed book 4 as much as I enjoyed the first three. Faith struggles, romance, Amish life, drama... It's all there. But for me, I definitely am glad that I read the first three books first. I can see in the description that this is book 4 of a 5-book series. But to me, that does not indicate that each book will end in a cliffhanger! That is my primary reason for giving only 4 stars. I also feel that this book was my least favorite of the four (if I try to think of them individually). But I cannot explain that sentiment without revealing any spoilers, so I won't explain! I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, and I'm so happy to have read it! If you enjoy reading about faith and romance with good bit of drama, check out this book! (Just read the first three before this one!)
Mary Lou is still in a coma. Jonah is staying with his parents, but visiting Mary Lou in the hospital... couple days a week.
Jonah is beside himself, but decides that he is going to build a house for Mary Lou when she wakes up and is discharged from the hospital. Wedding plans still in the making.
When Mary Lou is not getting better and waking up, Jonah decides he needs something to dull the pain and feel nothing. He resorts to vodka.
His friend Samuel is helping him build the house. Samuel's sister is also helping while she awaits the return of her fiancé.
Her fiancé sends her a letter and a package of her personal items, indicating that he is breaking off their engagement and tells her he has married someone from his community.
I received an ARC copy to review: book 4 in Johah's story, picks up where book 3 left the readers hanging. Jonah decides to build a home for himself and Mary Lou in his community to live in once married. During this time at home, he learns how his parents overcame a crisis of faith, he faces Jenny's drowning all that time ago and the demons with which he has been grappling ever since, and finds unexpected solace in the friendship and attentions of his best friend's sister; it seems Jonah is dealing with so much, including wanting to be at peace with God - book 5 will hopefully bring some closure!
Sweet Amish romances and fictional stories about the Amish are some of my favorite stories to read. This book is pretty good, the characters are very nice and the story itself is good. But for me, the story line was too drawn out and long, the book lagged a lot and I found myself losing interest from chapter to chapter. I have not read anything by Sylvia Price before, and did not read the previous four books in the series. Perhaps if I had, my reading experience would have been much better. I'm confident that the next book I read of Sylvia's will be rewarding and inspirational.
While Mary Lou remains in the hospital unconscious due to a reaction to the chemotherapy, Jonah returns home with his father. When his mother and father reveal a secret to Jonah, he decides that he can do better than he has been doing. He will quit dwelling on Mary Lou’s illness and prepare for her recovery. He draws up house plans and continues on toward his goal of having a house ready when she comes home. Things change a little when he begins the house. Things are still unresolved and more are being added to what he is dealing with.
While Mary Lou is unconscious at the hospital, Jonah tries to stay faithful to his newfound relationship in God. As weeks pass, and Mary Lou does still not waken up, he slowly but completely loses ground. In the meantime, Catherine, who had a childhood crush on Jonah, gets closer to him and rekindles their earlier friendship… It is very encouraging to read that it is not because Jonah found his faith anew that he is a strong believer right away. It makes the story very appealing and relatable. I cannot wait to read how it continues.
This is the 4th book I've read written by Sylvia Price; she has done a great job at writing a good short story; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book; part 4 of a great short story series.
I loved the characters.
I received a free copy of this book via booksprout and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.
"He would have felt God in that place sustaining Mary Lou and ready to confort him", Jonah is at the hospital, "the wait was unbearable, and the loneliness, palpable." Mary Lou is ill. Jonah feels so much pain to see her loves one in an hospital bed, she's fighting with the death. Nice story, full of emotions, good author.
An emotional and sweet read. Mary Lou continues in her coma and Jonah is still dealing with his guilt and grief. Wonderful story! This series is best read in order. I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however, I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
The book is a good sweet romance read. The story has a good story line. The characters are good, and they have good chemistry. The story is an enjoyable inspirational romance romance read.

Jonahs Redemption Book 4 is the best one yet , I read the whole book from start to finish without stopping , couldn’t wait to see what happens, Poor Mary Lou still in a coma and Jonah falling apart, with guilt Can’t wait to find out what happens, Jennifer
Enjoyed book 4 as I did all the others. Great reading and very uplifting. Once you start reading , you will not put it down until you are finished. I can't wait to see what happens next. Sylvia Price writes awesome books.
Book four in the Jonah's Redemption series and right now I am not liking Jonah very much. He may still be lost but that does not make what he has just done okay. I want to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book takes an unusual turn. Mary Lou remains in a coma as Jonah becomes more depressed. Eventually visiting his sister's grave, he is found by her Mother kissing another woman. This story has changed so much that it's storyline is confusing.
As with the first three the story reads quickly. You keep hoping Jonah will find peace but his anger makes him make bad judgement calls. Will this last mistake cost him his happiness? I can't wait to read the next book to find out.
Jonah starts to build a home for him and Mary Lou only to find himself overwhelmed by. grief over his sister and Mary Lou. What does he do and what are the effects of his actions.
Great book with a great story. Really enjoyed reading it. Very well written. I did receive an advanced copy of the book and the review is mine voluntarily.
It is a really great book with numerous twists that left me glued to the book. I am totally looking forward to the next one. I received an advanced copy and liked it enough to give this review.
I think Jonah doesn't know his head from a hole in the ground! Is this why men need women just to keep them on a path? This book has your thoughts all over the place.
Jonah seems to face strides ahead and leaps back on his faith journey
While he is smitten with his fiancée, her continued coma makes for a variety of challenges.
When an old friend faces challenges in faith and life plans, a different kind of faith and life challenges come into play.
Who knows what might happen next with his comatose fiancée and her family. They might have turned their backs on her when she was taking cancer treatments, but who has the legal right to make decisions for her now, since she and Jonah were not yet wed
Tough faith and life questions and struggles abound
