Some secrets refuse to stay buried... it’s time for Retribution.
***
Raven hasn’t had it easy; her life has been a whirlwind of clusterfucks and disasters, but the latest has left her reeling. She’s faced with a tough decision: crumble and break, or rebuild and come back fighting harder than ever.
With the help of the guys she loves picking her up and supporting her every step of the way, she chooses the second option. But as secrets and lies are revealed, even with fierce love on their side, it might not be enough to help Raven in the fight of her life.
Can a secret that refuses to stay buried be the key to serving up the ultimate retribution to Cordelia and finding Raven’s happiness once and for all? Or is this a secret too far – something there’s no coming back from that will threaten to tear them all apart for good?

Retribution is a contemporary New Adult reverse harem revenge romance, with some dark themes. It is told from multiple points of view and is a medium burn with a HFN/HEA. It contains hot guys, bad language, and sexual scenes. I would love for you to read this book, but please be aware that it comes with triggers, a warning of 18+, and you really need to have read Vengeance and Atonement first, as this is the final book in the trilogy.
This book was pretty dark. Usually that would be fine, but tonally it felt off from the first 2 books in the series with book 1 being kind of dark and book 2 not being dark at all.
I also hate that even though it's the last book of the series, there's still a cliffhanger since she used the last 10% of this book to introduce a brand new series. I didn't really get the HEA I was craving for and one the characters deserved. There are also a lot of questions that were raised at the end that you'll need to read the new series for to get the answers.
I'm in love with Baxter and his brand of crazy. There's seriously something wrong with me, hahah.
I fell for these characters in the first book Vengeance. The story literally floored me. I became obsessed with the series and the author because of that book. Now, this third book, Retribution is the final book in the Vengeance series by Crystal North. I'm still freaking obsessed. These characters... they are amazing. I can't even pick one over the other. STILL. Though Baxter wins by default because he's the craziest, and well... if you follow my reviews you know I'm a sucker for the crazies. Especially the crazies in dark RH. Yep, obsession may be an understatement.
I don't even know how to review this book, right now. I don't want to give away all the spoilers but I'm dying to spill!
So, what can I say?
Okay, Ace and Bax, perfectly dangerous duo - Yep, that's the retribution I so wanted to read.
Bax and Raven team up and take on Cuntdelia. Oh absofuckinglutely yes. Good times.
Fair warning - this book is like book 1 if you amp up the gore and torture to 11. Seriously. It's Vengeance on steroids. Not kidding! This is your trigger warning. Don't read it if you are sensitive to torture, gore, dark themes, mentions of rape, etc. There's some vividly detailed torture scenes that my crazy ass literally cheered for... they were well deserved.
Now, you all know, I like my romance dark and (anti)heroes dangerous with a whole lot of sexy. But this book takes it to the extreme. I love this series and these characters so much.
All that said, a lot of truth bombs were dropped. Just when we thought we would get complete closure, we get smacked with another mystery. But hey! Raven's story is over (HFN)!
That won't be the last we hear of them though. And Amelia and her guys too. Plus Beth ("who is that?!" you ask - to which I will tell you to read the series because you won't regret it!) and her guys.
100% recommend this series. Start with book 1 Vengeance. It's phenomenal and absolutely addictive. You won't regret it. Crystal North is brilliant!
Don't forget the triggers. Bad stuff happens. Lots of bad stuff.
This book was one of my most anticipated as I read the first two back to back and wanted answers. Would we get a HEA for our favourite characters. Raven has come along way from the teenager we first met Vengeance. She become changed by surprise life has gave her. With the guys firmly by her side now and a plan being hatched. Retribution is everything you hope for. in terms of story , engagement and entertainment. North drives the story home and give us the ending we want for them.
Retribution reminded me why I loved these guys and how far they come since their first meetings. This truly gone into the realm of no returns and I'm curious about North's future plans.
Idk how I completely feel about this book. I enjoyed it, but I think it just went a completely different route than what I was imagining? It didn’t completely feel like the same vibe as the other books.
I also haven’t read Knox Academy, and there felt like there were a few too many references to it that I didn’t know what to think. The ending wasn’t really an ending to Raven and her guys’ story, so it all feels really open ended, and I know there’s going to be another series (which is great) but I don’t think Raven and the guys are the main focus so it feels extra unsettled.
The twist at the end was unexpected. Like completely unexpected. I liked it, but waiting anxiously to see if I’ll like the new character.
I enjoyed seeing more of Baxter, he wasn’t like what I expected (because i haven’t read Knox Academy lol). I don’t totally get knife and blood play but that’s a me thing. There did seem to be more of a focus on him than the others, which makes sense, but i am interested to know more about Casey and Beth. Just hope it wasn’t his first love and secret child lol.
Still love Rebel the most! But the others are great too. Can’t wait to read the new series and Knox Academy finally too lol.
Overall a solid read and nice continuation of the series.
it was alright, i didn´t expect the ending to not be an ending, it was a start to a new series with her sis. I felt like i had wanted a solid ending tho to Ravens story, not cliffhangers and new questions which will continue in the new series. I had wanted this story to end like Rory´s story in Watch me burn series by RE bond more, that Rory´s journey ends official and that in the next books will be about Jade winters. I mean the concept of the ending. I got annoyed that it was so much stuff the guys didn´t let Raven know before like the last minute. They had their own convo and stuff they shared there didn´t really come out to raven. I felt like she was in the dark a bit.
I am intrigues to read about Nix story the most i think,
Just in case people aren't aware... This last book in the trilogy ends in a cliffhanger FOR A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SERIES!!! There is no conclusion to this one unless you are willing to read the new series. The whole thing was pretty much a lead up to suck you into reading this author's next series. I had to mark this as Author Behaving Badly. I won't be reading anything else she writes.
There were parts of this story I loved! Dark and twisted is my favorite genre! The plot was good, and that plot twist was excellent, I didn’t see that coming at all! I hard time identifying with these characters, the vibe of them felt off compared to the other two books. I do really enjoy this authors work, I’ll interested to see what’s next from her!
I am literally trying process everything that just went down. Like, Holy sh*t!!! What a way to wrap up Raven's story! The intensity, the freaking plot twist that I did not even expect, the special cameo, and it was hot as hell. This review is probably going to sound really strange, but I just can't even put into words how much I enjoyed this series.
I am soooo freaking in love with Baxter and Ace in this one. We saw a whole other side to them that I would have never thought I would see. It was absolutely glorious!🔥🥵 Not only that, but the other guys as well...fierce, loving daddies. It was the most adorable thing ever! Like I've mentioned before, I am not a huge fan of surprise/secret pregnancy but this was done soooo well.
Awww man, I'm going to have a huge book hangover and it's going to be a long wait for Knox Academy book 3 to see if they make a cameo in that one. I am most definitely going to might re-read this one again!
I received an ARC and voluntarily gave my honest opinion and review
At first I was obsessed with this series. I read the first two books in a day and passed out while reading the 3rd. I really had to push myself to get through it because it was so different. First the characters became inconsistent. Second it got weird. There’s secret organizations, human trafficking, and more questions than answers. Third there was no ending, not even a HFN. The last chapter is the book was a setup for a new series. Lastly we never learn anything beyond superficial facts about the guys. Who are their families? Why do they act the way they do? What do they even do for a living? Raven knew absolutely nothing about these guys nor did she ever ask any questions.
Really great story but the non ending ruined it for me.
Y'all I have been waiting forever for this book to come out. Cause one I needed to know if Cordelia was going to die cause I hated her in the past books. Grr this woman got under my skin. Second I needed to know what Baxter's intentions were with Raven and Nix. I also needed to know who Nix's real father is even though all the guys are raising her. Boy was I surprised with that out come. Any ways, we have Raven and the guys fighting tooth and nail to get Nix back to Raven. Baxter steps up his game to the max and we see a side that you only see in another series. Will he risk it all for Raven? Can she accept him as he is? She wants no secrets kept from the guys but this one could mean life or death. Some battles you should choose others need to be let go. Lets not forget the other guys as well. They are wanting to show Raven that they are not letting her go. They help her out in so many ways and it helps her stay sane. She also seems to fall back to who she was when they first met. OMG let me tell you that the shock value in this story is high as all can get out. I mean I was not prepared for some things to come to light but oh man I was floored. I can say that we do get a happily ever after with Raven's story but are left open with another. It was a crazy ending. I cannot wait to see what will happen next.
All sorts of kinkiness in this book!!! Phew Baxter was full of surprises and that pleased me no end lol. Danger Daddy was just one hell of a lot of dark deliciousness and my god have i been waiting for that from him since he first showed up. That made my day. Saying that the other guys brought up the steam too. Omg Jax & Raven in the laundry and a very hot would it be called six-some?? Blimey!!
Moving on so much happens in this book and most are spoilers so i cant put those down sadly. The plot twists were amazing though. I dont know where to start with the lengths Cordelia went in this book and the series for that matter but some shocked the hell out of me. More family come out of the woodwork too. I cant tell you how my jaw dropped with that one. Also a little crossover happened with Amelia rocking up (From Knox Academy series). Love when that happens.
The last book maybe?? It was full of violence, blood, revenge and a few heart melting bits. Rebel & Nix in the tree house............ah so cute. Retribution was just absolutely brilliant. Some ends were tied up but some more were started too. Damn you Ms North for that, lol. Ill be on the edge of my seating waiting................................
Holy Hell!! Talk about hot, hot hot! Crystal has completely blown me away with this one. Raven and her guys are back and not only have things heated up but revenge is being served the best way they know how. Stone cold and badass. Ravens cold and cruel side returns as she fights her grandmother. Baxter’s sexy psycho side is released and let me tell you, I hope you’re ready to be turned on more than you’ve ever been. Jax and the guys get even more protective and sexier, if that’s possible, as they fight for their family. This book will make your heart wrench, your body clench and at times make you want to throw your kindle lol with everything going on. It’s a must read!!
DNF 35% Ehhh the paternity plot line was being drug out and I was ready for things to just come together instead of being teased. Still love this series, I just wish I could change the pacing a bit.
Honestly, these books are a waste of time and I don't even know why I read this latest one. If anything, it was poorly written, could have used another pass through by an editor to take out the continuity errors and repetitive (yet somehow out of order?) scenes, and it was so much filler fluff simply to extend a series that really doesn't need to keep going. And is way too entangled with her other series, which also was messy.
I stupidly held out hope that this would be the one to make it worth it, but honestly, I'm just mad at myself. This story tried too hard and didn't make it worth it and it was just such a bummer.
Crystal North does such a wonderful job connecting her separate series. It was great to see little glimpses of Amelie from Knox Academy and kind of get an idea of where her story is going since that series is yet to be completed. Although this is the final book in Raven's story, I expect to see her around often in both Beth's and Amelie's stories.
This final book was just WOW. So much suspense to really keep you guessing at what really is going on and whether what you first thought near the beginning of the series is really the truth. You literally question and second guess every little piece of information you've been given about Raven and Lizzie and it becomes clear that there is a lot more at play than originally thought. But this is what I love about Crystal North--she weaves a phenomenal and captivating story that keeps you trapped from the very first page. Be prepared for some crazy and unexpected plot twists!
This book also kicks up the intensity between Raven and her guys, both emotionally and physically. You get to see different sides to characters that were barely touched on in other books. The guys have changed over the years and yet they haven't at the same time. There was a nice mesh between the guys that Raven used to know and the guys they are now. Even Raven herself has changed but in a good way. She seems to truly blossom in this last book, accepting more things than you think she would be comfortable with knowing her past and bonding with each guy in a unique (and possibly kinky) way. But what might seem extreme to some is perfect for her and whoever she is with at the time. It was nice to see such a variety of interests and how that solidified each connection and even brought an even more emotional aspect to everything as a whole.
I can't wait to see what Crystal North does next. I'm not ready to let any of these characters in this world go and I'm excited to see what is really happening with The Order in regards to Amelie and Beth's roles
Retribution is book 3 of the Vengeance series, and must be read in order.
Holy crap on a cracker. I’ve been waiting for this book for months, the author left us hanging after Atonement with a double mystery cliffhanger, and this follow up monster of a book delivered! Sooooo many more questions opened up, but those situations we were left with before are resolved, and the family as a whole grows closer together. Each bond between Raven and her guys becomes more intimate, as well as the guys’ bond with Phoenix. Nix becomes a central part of their lives, and they each love her very much.
We learn more about Baxter in this book, and he is my dark prince! Omg, I love him and his twisted ways! Raven transforms under his tutelage, and she grows more confident, and brave. This whole family unit solidifies, and it satisfies the HEA part my heart was looking for! Except....
Those new questions I mentioned earlier? Yeah. We are already led into a full saga, a world of danger, suspense, and the provocative hint of something more perilous than they suspect. We are provided the next direction this author is going, and I can’t wait to get there!!
Story 📖: 5/5!! Loved every bit of this story!! The highs and the lows! Heat 🔥: 5/5 whew! Some scenes get intense! Darkness 🖤: 10/5. Seriously. This gets deliciously decadent in all things dark. Triggers: human trafficking, torture, blood/knife play, complete restraint during intercourse.
I'm not totally sure what I expected for the ending but it certainly exceeded my expectations as well as disappointed me at the same time.
Ending a series is always bittersweet (at least for me) and the ending for this one was heartbreaking in a way. While reading the series, of course I grew to love Raven and her men as well as Phoenix but the ending felt like a non ending (if that makes sense) lol. We are assured that we'll continue to see them in other series but I'm heartbroken that we won't get to hear the guys or Raven's POV's as well as see their relationships nurture and become something amazing. I would of loved to have another book a least because I felt like Raven and her men's relationships weren't all that solid combined with the feeling some of the men didn't feel like they belong in the relationship at all. All that said though, I truly did enjoy the book and the series as a whole. I loved seeing Raven and Baxter's relationship deepen and Ace's dark side come out to play. This book is definitely the darkest out of the 3 and I caution you to heed the trigger warnings.
After giving some thought on the ending (because I just couldn't let it go) I feel like this series is more of a side story compared to Liz's and Amelia's story so keeping that in mind the ending is perfect. Although, there's still a part of my heart that one day we'll see more books for Raven and her men.
This book brought the heat and darkness I’ve been craving. So much intensity but also some gentle moments. Raven and the guys coming together to get Nix back was such a good start to bringing everyone together. I loved that the guys accepted Nix as she was their own without knowing who her father was. We get to see more of Baxter’s dark side. Of course this only makes me love him more. The scenes between him and Raven were fire. I’m so happy he found a group he can be himself with and was able to get close to the others. I loved the guy’s group chat. We also got some chats between Baxter and Amelie. I love their friendship and banter so much.
Cordelia got what was coming to her and I’m not disappointed. There were a ton of revelations and questions I was dying to know. Not to mention the plot twists! I was worried when I saw the amount of pages left and thought we might not get all the answers. Luckily we got them...well most of them. I don’t know whether to strangle Crystal or kiss her because we are getting a new spinoff series! I won’t say what or who it is for cause spoilers, but I can’t wait. Overall this book was epic and I’m happy with how Raven’s story ended.
4.5 stars This is book 3 of the series and you definitely have to have read the previous 2 to know what is going on. OK, so this starts exactly where book 2 finished (thank you cliffhanger queen!). I'm really struggling to write this review without spoilers but if you enjoyed the first two books this one does not disappoint. Raven, the guys and Baxter are together as they fight Cordelia for custody of Nix, the most advanced 3 year old I've even heard of. I really enjoyed getting to know the guys as adults in this book, and I absolutely loved the text messages in between the chapters, they were brilliant for adding some info or a little twist and to see the relationship between all the guys without Raven. For anyone who has read the Knox Academy, there are a few little cross over references. This book is a little darker and if I had to guess, probably shows more of Raven and Baxter's relationship than anyone else. Although it doesn't end in a cliffhanger, we end with a HFN rather than a HEA, but I totally see these guys in more books, especially with who appears at the end!
Aaaarghh! Book hangover! What a rollover coaster of emotions and action. All the feels in this book and this series.
The characters are engaging to say the least. You root for them and hate the bad guys. Even Baxter “f*cking” Branson turns into a superb part of the harem in all his psycho glory.
This book is steamy off the charts and yet the emotional aspects are not brushed aside. The deep character development of the series continues with a bunch of twists and turns that set this up for side books and series.
The Order comes to bear in a big way throughout the book and merges two series by the author. Honestly we need more books about this shady organization and the hellacious cliffhanger sets that up nicely.
Be warned that there are many triggering aspects you should be ready fir including child abuse, kinky bdsm bed play, torture and murder. But if you’re ready for a dark wicked read this is the series for you.
It ends on a cliffhanger but other than cuntdelia nothing is answered. And that's half assed
Thorn has existential crisis on how he fits into the group in the beginning but nothing is ever talked about it disappers. Never to be talked about again
Aces family??? Just thrown in there Baxter says he's gonna kill them basically the next day but never happens.
Jax- mentions nix couldn't ever be his but never talked about
Rebel proposes (shocker) but then half way through the book talks like he never has.
Adds more for the order and nothing absolutely NOTHING is explained. Hell not even Cuntdelia is.
Other comments saying these same things go back to 2021 and there still aren't books out to answer this that I can find.
I wish I had my time back. If a series ends most stuff should be answered. Not left up in the air as a completed series.
4.5 ⭐️ Oh, wow. This one had some crazy stuff happening. I think I liked this one the best. But you should definitely read the box set, because without all the bonuses you get from that the main ending was not really satisfying. Not that the ending of the bonus was any better, but at least I had more to go on before that.
I loved Baxter in this one. Who would have thought he would be the most levelheaded of all the guys? He's unhinged in the best way, and the sex between him and Raven was explosive. He's definitely my favorite.
I really like Rebel, Thorn and Ace too. They're such protective sweethearts in their own way. But Jax I have some issues with. He's so hot and cold it drove me nuts. I likef that he finally admits his feelings but he still has stupid outbursts that make no sense.
I really like Raven in this one too. She got her fire back, and she's fiercely protective of her family. There was a few twists I really didn't see coming though. But the ones that wronged them got what they deserved.
Wow!!! I've been not so patiently for this book and I devoured it as soon as it was released. I love Raven and her men, such intricate character development right throughout the whole series. I'm glad we got to see more of Baxter and learn a bit about his past in this book, and the hint of his grandfather being THE Mr. Branson....yeah I laughed every time he was mentioned!! I'm also dying to know the history he shares with Rebel and who Casey is! This book is definitely darker than book 1 and 2 but when you think of everything Raven has been through it was definitely required. I'd love to know more about Ace's background, we are given little hints and teasers throughout the book and I definitely want more! I'm glad this isnt the end of the line for these characters as I love them! I'm eager to read Lizzie/Beth's story now!
Nooooo! I don't want this series to be over. When I found Vengeance I just came off a very angry book hangover. Nothing was grabbing my attention. Crystal was a new author and this was her debut so imagine my surprise when i was sucked in. This woman can write. It's so effortless to read her books. I love it.
Retribution was the perfect end to this series. I'm going to miss this story so much. Never have I read an RH where I enjoyed every single male in the harem. They were all great and played a special role in Raven's life. These books are full of steam but also have a great storyline. Sex, Mystery, Family. What more can a girl want besides more. Luckily, it looks like we'll be getting more in a spinoff series. Thank god because I'm not ready for it to end.
All hail the Cliffhanger Queen. Claps to you Crystal.
This book and series has been a lot. The 1st book I wanted the main character to be with the first guy she had passion with, Rebel. By this book I was content with how her relationship was with all 5 of them and I was happy to learn about them and see how things work out.
The series is supposedly complete but there are many things not complete at all. We are left with so many unanswered questions.
What happened with Ace’s family? Is the threat to the family completely gone? Are Lizzie’s guys a threat? What really happened to the guys in their past? Does Phoenix still call them by their nicknames and what will she call them going forward?
Over all it’s a lot and there wasn’t even a clear understanding of where to go for Lizzie’s series because apparently we are good on Raven’s and her men’s story. Not even a title to look out for.
So if you know me you know that I LOVE this series in that I'm always raving about it!! Vengeance is the book that hooked me onto contemporary romance and Crystal's writing in particular. Ravens story is epic there are so many twists and turns in this book and I'm honestly just flabbergasted by how amazing it is. Retribution was everything you can imagine and more. It was bloody, it was funny and it was just plain amazing. You got to see the real Baxter "Fucking" Branson and it's better than I could image. I cannot wait to see where this author goes in the future - She is definitely one of my top authors to read and I recommend to anyone to check out this series because it will BLOW your mind!
I have been waiting for this book and it did not disappoint. This book had so many twists and turns that I did not see coming! And the cliffhanger!!! I cannot wait to see what happens next in this world. I will say I absolutely fell more in love with Ravens guys during this book. Seeing them interact with Phoenix made my heart melt. I loved her nicknames for each “daddy”. I was laughing so hard! I also loved seeing Ravens relationships grow through the book. I have to say though I can’t choose a favorite guy! This book honestly had it all! An amazing fmc, hot men, steamy scenes, an amazing plot with twists and turns, and some mystery as well. I highly recommend this world that Crystal has created and I cannot wait to read more books in this world!
I'm a little disappointed with this one. There was such a big lead up and I feel it fell a little flat. I have so many questions. Is this the end of raven and her guys story? The ending teases a new story so does that follow other characters? Are they all merging? Or is it following raven again. Will we ever find out the secrets cordelia held? Whats a legacy? And some other questions that might be spoliers but you get the gist lol I'm so confused. Aside from all that I still did like this series. There are so many twists that get thrown at you along with so much mystery. I am excited to see where it leads but I'm hoping there's more closure on some of the remaining questions from this series as well.
