This little book of “Chris Stories” begins as a mother’s answer to her adopted son’s question, “What was I like when I was a baby?” Adopted at age two, Chris and his mother were sad that they had not known each other when Chris was an infant. From those intimate times when she took him on her lap to recall their earliest shared memories, these stories follow the bright-eyed, curious toddler with Down syndrome on his journey through childhood, his teenage years, and into adulthood. Great Is Thy Faithfulness recounts how the Lord has created the family in which Chris is growing and flourishing. He lives life’s challenges and adventures with enthusiasm and joy, whether he’s listening to country music or going to an opera, learning to ride a horse or dancing at the prom, walking to the bus in the rain or working at his job. In sharing the joy, privilege, and blessing of living with and raising a child with Down syndrome, Great Is Thy Faithfulness offers encouragement to new parents facing the uncertainty of the birth of a baby with developmental disabilities and those contemplating the adoption of a child with Down syndrome. Chris’s story is a celebration of life, God’s providence, His protection, and His unfailingly faithfulness.
