Forming the Formless: Accessing and Elevating Your Spirit and Soul

Rate this book
This book is meant to be used as a guide to help you realize what already exists within. It will shed Light where darkness may reside. It will assist you in revealing and awakening the wisdom and knowledge that you already possess in your soul. After all, wisdom cannot be taught; it can only be attained through the medium of knowledge and experience if transmuted correctly. You cannot learn wisdom; you may only reveal it. The following ideas and concepts are not meant to give you conclusions and answers about how the universe works; rather, they are meant to simply open your doors of thought for you to explore further and perceive the world in your own unique way. What will follow is a life in which you have complete control, a higher level of consciousness, and a stronger connection to your inner true self. Take your time and read each sentence carefully. Consider reading some chapters more than once, perhaps even multiple times. Allow your soul to digest the information it is receiving and the wisdom it is revealing. Where you take it is up to you!

Good Primer

Good read for sure if you’re new to the topic or just want a reminder. The author does a good job of explaining separation, illusion and time but when it comes to understanding these things he says to “dive within”. Each sub topic is very short. He introduces the topic to your awareness but without instructions or guidance. I would have liked more on the heart and soul, their roles and creating direct relationships. The author encourages us to listen and that’s very sound advice. This book will whet your appetite for more. Be careful. It’s a self help jungle out there and easy to spend a lot of money to end up disappointed.Everyone seems to have a method or system. Jason Shurka has done us a service by keeping it simple. The practice is in the quiet where the ego dissolves.

This book is cute. It reads more like a blog post than a book, but it's got some neat ideas. Nothing I hadn't figured out in high school, but, y'know, everyone makes the journey in their own time.

Shurka touches on some key concepts, like the importance of energy and the ontological state of the universe. He also makes a wonderful analogy comparing mental illness, and thoughts in general, to an AM radio station, telling us that we can tune into whatever station we choose.

In my life, I've discovered the power of attention and intention when regulating my mind, so this was a nice reminder that my mind is mine.

That being said, Morgue's "Metaphorical Suicide" does a better job of ripping the mask from the veil. Shurka does a nice job though. The book passed the time for me at the bar, so.

I give it a 5/10. Not because it's bad, but because it didn't stir anything in me. I recommend this book (and Morgue's) to eighth-graders, high school kids, or people looking to dip into some abstract, yet foundational waters of reality.

I'll probably leave my copy of this book in some free library. Keep an eye out for it.
