************ *** PLEASE NOTE : I have edited and revised those portions relating to the character Deshawn that caused offense to some readers. ***
All Rachel Polowsky wants is to lead a quiet life, making a moderate income from her online business based on her passion for healthy and simple living and her vegan beliefs. When the most handsome man she’s ever seen approaches her at a booth at a vegan festival in the Midwestern United States, she’s determined not to let his flirtatious advances make any cracks or holes in the walls she’s constructed around her heart. Not even after she discovers that the man in question happens to be the most popular rock star on earth, Spanish singer Julio Estrella.
What she doesn’t realize is that Julio Estrella, known among family members and close friends by his real name, Antonio Ramirez, has been watching her from a distance. After a face-to-face encounter with Rachel during which she show no signs of recognizing him, Tony becomes convinced, based on a prayer he prayed a year ago, that she is the one God created to be his soul mate. It takes a literal knock on Rachel’s head in order for circumstances to force her into Tony’s presence, and eventually, into his life.
At first, Rachel is a reluctant participant, believing that once the Atlantic Ocean is between them, Tony’s feelings for her will fizzle out. Instead, they only grow stronger, and Rachel can’t stop her own heart from reciprocating. Though a humiliating and painful experience during her truncated time at the university produced an irrational fear of fame inside her, she begins to wonder if falling in love with this particular famous person might be worth the risk of getting her face published on millions of copies of gossip magazines.
Until the day she receives an unexpected summons to court to be a witness for Tony in a civil lawsuit that has been filed against him. The horrible memories from a scant few years ago come flooding back, and Rachel cuts Tony out of her life. At least, as much as she can, given that she has to meet with his lawyer and show up in court.
The only problem with her plan is that a death threat from unknown person who is determined to keep her out of the courtroom, sends Rachel to the one place on earth she doesn’t want to in close proximity to Tony.
Sparks fly, and a flame begins to burn between them again. Then Rachel’s worst nightmare comes true, and both she and Tony face making frightening choices, trying to decide whether their relationship is worth the risk of flipping their lives upside down. ********* This sweet, clean romance novel is the first book in author Emily Josephine’s “Rock Star Husband” series. It’s a full-length inspirational romance novel that makes for either a perfect beach read or a heart-warming story on a cold winter’s night.
Assuming she's still alive when you read this, Emily Josephine lives somewhere on Planet Earth with a couple of people she refers to as "family" when she's in a good mood, writing stories with characters who lead much more interesting lives than she does, with an eye toward entertaining readers as well as encouraging them to grow into the person God created them to be, and in so doing endeavoring to kick the habit of writing run-on sentences; however, she sometimes waxes Charles Dickens-ish and is at such times unable to help herself - and speaking of famous people, if you look for "Emily Josephine" on any social media site or on YouTube, you will find more than one person going by that gorgeous name, but it will not be THE Emily Josephine, the author about whom you are now reading, because Emily Josephine The Author is severely and deathly allergic to both social media and YouTube, and if anyone tries to assert the proposition that such an allergy is an absolute and certain impossibility, she will stoutly deny their denial, "stout" being an absolute and certain absurdity in this context as there has never been anything stout about Emily except for the blessedly brief period of her life when she was pregnant and a mommy to a newborn baby.

The only problem with her plan is that a death threat from unknown person who is determined to keep her out of the courtroom, sends Rachel to the one place on earth she doesn’t want to be: in close proximity to Tony.

Also addresses the issues of fame, faith, callings, the effects of slander and libel, that people really CAN wait until marriage, whether they believe they can or not. Thr thing I wish had been used in the story is that the girl whose family sue did batter the witness (assault is a threat; battery is when you physically harm someone). The plaintiff could have been held liable and the witness could have at least threatened to press charges. That would have aborted the fake lawsuit. As for the actual story. I found several errors that I think mean the author should demand a refund from her proofreaders. First of all, any series of chords and/or individual notes that form a subset of a movement in popular music is a "riff," not a "rift." The latter is a split, as in a rift in a relationship, or a split 8n a geological formation. Second, the legal terms are incorrect in places. Slander is a verbal statement about a person, usually malicious, and proveably untrue. Libel is a written (implied for public consumption in the story) of slander. And the term liable means responsible for legally - if what you do is harmful to another, you are liable to make it right or recompense the person in some way. People who are unsure of words, esoecially proofreaders, have a ready made tool called a dictionary, online or in print, that can be used to define things more precisely. I don't expect proofreaders to know everything, but I DO expect them to look things up if they're not sure, even for a romance novel. Words matter. It is why we have laws that make people liable for what they say under certain clearly defined circumstances....such as slander or libel. While there is often a thin line between First Amendment protected speech and speech for which one is liable, the general pattern has been the intent of the speech and the ability to prove it is accurate. If Amazon has hired proofreaders that are this bad, I read like a maniac and they can pay me what it's worth to do a REAL proofreading. And there should always be more than one proofreader per book...there is always the risk of getting caught up in what you proofread and missing something. Two sets of eyes are better than one...three are better than two. And yes, it does matter even for light reading.
Rachel met Tony, a famous rock star, not having any idea who he was. They met at a vegan festival where Rachel had a booth selling blenders . It was love at first sight. When Tony was recognized he left with his body guards to get to his car. People surrounded his car, with one girl jumping on top of the car. The girl sued Tony claiming she was hurt by him. Rachel can't handle all the publicity and breaks up with Tony. Will Tony give up his music or convince Rachel he can protect her from his crazy fans?
Emily Josephine has again outdone herself. When I first saw the title about a rock star, I thought, no thank you, not for me. I decided to give it a try when I saw who wrote it. I have yet to read a bad book by Emily Josephine. They are all great and I have trouble putting it down until I finish it.
Really? Mimicking a “black southern accent “? Lines like these just highlighted the thinly veiled micro aggression in this book. Very uncomfortable to read such racist and insensitive material. Besides which the writing, plot and characters are poorly executed. Won’t be supporting this book or this author.
Love at first sight at a Vegan festival between a world famous rock star and a smoothie making blender sales person makes for a modern day fantasy romance. Clean living includes healthful eatonv and good moral choices as portrayed in this feel good fantasy love story.
We all must make sacrifices for true love. It should not be one sided. I hesitate to write this comment since it seems to hit home. This is the first time this reality has hit home. No regrets for I asked for forgiveness of my role in our demise. Anyway a very good story.
I love romances and clean novels like this one; makes me truly believe. I liked the main characters, Tony and Raquela. I would have loved more story to the supporting characters though, Danica and Deshawn. Overall, a good read!😊
I stayed up late to finish this book. I enjoyed the Christian theme but they were a couple of other themes I did not care for, being vegan and The new age theme. All and all in all the book held my interest despite the 2 themes i did not care for.
ated the coonilike caricature representation of Deshawn, the bodyguard in this book. It was 100% disgraceful especially for a "Christian" author. This 2022, not the Jim Crowe era.
This book had me from the first chapter. A wonderful love story full of twists and turns without all the smut! Can't wait to read the rest of the series.
Well... I was looking for a clean romance but this would be the case of: "it's not you, it's me" Couldn't really enjoyed it. However I liked the Spanish interventions and faith.
