What a comeback this amazing story was. A 5 star heartfelt page turning masterpiece that consumed me from the first page read to the last one. Even then I wanted more.
Connor is a Lawyer who aims for partnership . An opportunity presents itself and he takes it. He comes face to face with Elle, a fierce advocate who strongly believes in the cause she represent. Will Connor help her or get in her way?
As soon as I found out that another story by this author was coming out, I jumped on the opportunity to read and review it. I was not disappointed in the least. A solid page turning heartfelt addicting story. Beautifully written with a perfect storyline that flowed well. I was captivated.
What I look for in my stories are the characters. Connor is the perfect alpha, protector with a big heart. Elle a fierce, never back down in the face of trouble. The characters were perfectly created for this story. Bottomline this is a must read.
Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story. In order to read this one, there’s no need to read the previous books. But they are to be read too. They were that amazing.
Review by: Jennifer (4 Stars) Connor's turn to get his story; he has been working hard to make partner and when a case is given to him with the expectation he wins and gets partner, Connor is determined to not let anything stop him. Elle is determined to make sure that the children in this case are taken care of and given the best chance at a future. This is a true slow burn, and not going to lie, it was a bit too slow for me. We still get some good drama, and a bit of mystery with just who Elle is to Connor. I give this 4 stars.
Risk is book four in the Brothers of Ink and Steel but can be read as a standalone. I have not read any of the previous books and I was able to follow along well. This book has everything in it. There is love, loss, passion, secrets, lies quick wit, and humor. This is the story of Connor and Elle.
Elle is smart sassy and most of all determined. Elle is an advocate for child services. She is on the case to keep three orphaned kids together. She is strong and passionate about her job and these kids. She knows she is not supposed to get attached and remain impartial but she realizes the older buoy is similar to her. She ran away all the time to look for her brother when they were separated.
Connor is a young and up and coming lawyer. Let me tell you looks can be deceiving. He is on track to making partner and he is willing to do whatever he can to get it. Connor is opposing Elle and he is determined to win. He wants that partnership. Then he catches a glimpse of the Saint Sophia pendant that Elle is wearing and knows he knows her. Her eyes are familiar.
This book is a slow burn and burn it does. I loved Elle’s fiery spirit and so did Connor. Things with this case are not what they seem to be. I really enjoyed this book it was a lot of fun reading. I was waiting on pins and needles for the shoe to drop and find out the why. We know the who.
Overall the book kept me engaged and the progression from Elle not liking Connor at all to tolerating him then more. Did she have him all wrong or are all lawyers alike? Who will come out the victor and can the tentative friendship lasts while this all plays out? Read Risk and find out you wont be sorry.
It's been awhile since this author has had a new release, so I was very excited to start this. Unfortunately, I was easily distracted and had to force myself to pick it back up because it was so slow. They didn't even go on their first date until.almost the 70% mark. There were numerous inconsistencies. For example, Connor mentions frequently how hard he's worked to make partner, but it makes a reference that ten years ago he was just 15 yrs old. You have to have a minimum 4 yr degree before entering and completing 3 yrs of law school. Assuming you started college at 18 that would make you roughly 24 yrs old when you graduate with a law degree (then you still have to pass the Bar Exam). Unless I got his age wrong, NO ONE makes partner 1 yr out of law school. Also, the opinion of the social worker or child advocate is typically relied on heavily by family court judges. Last but not least, their voices, especially their inner monologue, seemed a little immature to me. Realistically, these would have been tough kids. Both were part of the foster care system who also lived on the streets for a period of time, factor in their respective professions and they just didn't sound authentic to me. While this didn't work for me, it might work for you. I can be a little nitpicky, so my issues may not be your issues. At the end of the day, I'm glad this author is back and I look forward to the next book in the series.
HOLY HELL! Risk is my very favorite of the Brothers of Ink and Steel series to date, and I'm still emotionally hung over with this one. Connor Callahan is one of the Brothers of Ink and Steel, and he's done very well for himself to become a top attorney around the Twin Cities. His boss gives him a new case which will earn him a partnership at his law firm, so he's super excited about it, that is until he really starts dealing with it, and the opposing side. Elle is doing her very best for a family of 3 siblings who lost their parents & they just want to be together. One of the kids has a grandfather who only wants him & to hide his younger siblings, and since he has a ton of money Elle has been stopped at every turn. The moment she realizes that Connor is the new attorney on the case, she despises him while he is in shock because he recognizes the necklace that she wears, as he never stopped thinking of it or her. This story was an emotionally draining, piece of beauty as Connor & Elle tried to navigate through everything. There are big twists to get the f-bombs dropping as Connor starts to see how much Elle is right about, not to mention the chemistry they have in abundance. How in the hell can this work out?! You'll have to hit those one click buttons to find out for yourselves! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
The minute I started reading this book, I felt like I was home. I love reading Allie’s stories.
Everyone has Risks in life and I think Allie showed this in her book. Is it worth the risk to do something that you could regret, or you could risk losing everything in front of you if you don’t take that step to help family, friends or a loved one.
Connor risked helping a little girl escape to save her brother. But does he see that little girl again?? Does she turn up and give him hell without actually knowing that’s the boy who saved her?? But the world takes a horrible turn and takes Connor on a emotional rollercoaster. Choosing which risk is better then the other. Does he choose right??
Elle is risking everything she knows to save children who have no one to save them. She wants to wrong the rights that happened to her, she wants to prove she can save children from horrible people and not split them up. Then Connor steps in her world and turns it upside down but does she know who he really is?? Or does his persona as a lawyer, working for a evil company hide who he really is?? Has he lost his way??
I absolutely loved this book, I look forward to more soon.
If you’re a fan of the Brother’s of Ink and Steel series, you’ve been waiting for the next instalment and Connor’s story doesn’t disappoint. It’s been awhile but I loved seeing these brother’s by choice interact with each other. Don’t despair if you haven’t read the previous titles in this series, Risk can be read as a complete standalone.
Connor is a successful, driven and determined lawyer. He’s a protective, loyal and caring alpha with a big heart.
Ellie is a fierce, strong, sassy and stubborn heroine, who is incredibly protective of the children she advocates for.
Ellie and Connor’s story is an emotional slow burn, enemies to lovers romance, and I loved watching them tip toe around each other. The sexual tension oozes between this pair and their banter is at times antagonistic, but also heartfelt and flirty.
Risk is an engaging and entertaining romance, with endearing characters and a heartfelt storyline, and I will be eagerly awaiting the next release in this series.
This book was worth every risk, every chance and every opportunity. A book that I have been waiting years for was worth every minute to finally have it in my hands. Connor and Elle's story is highly emotional, passionate and enchanting. A story that will touch your heart and soul in such a special way that you will walk away at the end feeling happy, elated and enamoured by the characters and their journey. Risk takes us back to the Brothers and Ink and Steel and reminds us just why they are their brother's keeper. A book that takes you on a highly charged story of pasts intertwined with a future that both people could have only ever wished for. This story wraps itself solidly around you and will stay with you long after the words have faded. A truly beautiful love story of family and forever.
This is the 4th book in this amazing series and is Connor and Elle’s story. Connor is a powerful, loyal, caring, and determined attorney, who is the most eligible bachelor, and has a partnership dangling in from of him if he wins this case. Elle is feisty, sassy, and stubborn social worker, and she is determined for protect the vulnerable children that Connor’s client has destroyed. Connor has a feeling that he knows Elle from somewhere, but he cannot place her. Will his career take precedence over justice? This is a well written easy to read, slow burn, action packed story, with family, friendships, emotions, enemies / lovers, tension, heartbreak, humor, witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, unpredictable, and engaging addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Risk is the next book in the Brothers of Ink and Steel series and despite some years away from the game, AJM is back! When Connor meets the opposing advocate outside of the court room, he gets the feeling he knows her but can't place her. When she realizes that Connor is not the defender she is hoping for, her guard goes up and the claws come out. Elle Hayes has one job on her mind, protect those children. Connor was raised in North House. He knows the system better than anyone. When the offer of partner is dangled in front of him, can Connor see through the cloudiness of success to see the right answer? I loved the back story behind their characters but don't want to give anything away. Their bond is everything. 💚 Looking forward to more amazing things from Allie Juliette Mousseau!
Gosh I gobbled this book up in one sitting and now I’m reeling because I. Need. More. I need more Connor. I need more badass Elle. I need mooooore y’all.
Connor is the most eligible bachelor working as a powerful attorney. In hopes of making partner at his firm, he turns ruthless. A sense of déjà vu hits him when he catches sight of his opposing counsel, but he can’t quite place where he’s seen the blonde bombshell.
Elle is a fierce protector of the children she’s fighting for, not letting anything get in the way of her goals. She’s hard-headed, stubborn to a fault with nothing but love in her heart. She was truly a peach to read. She meets Connor and immediately has her guard up, stopping at nothing to get her way. Loved her!
I was so excited to get my hands on this book. I love the Brothers of Ink & Steel series and this book definitely didn’t disappoint. This was a great comeback for Ms. Mousseau and a great addition to the series. This book was an absolute page turner and had me captivated from the beginning. I loved everything about it from the plot to the characters and everything in between. This was Connor’s story and he’s perfection as a book boyfriend. He’s a lawyer, an alpha male, and has a good heart. Elle is a strong female lead and doesn’t give up or in easily. Risk left me wanting more of the Brothers of Ink & Steel. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
It's been years since I read the first three books in this series. I thought this author would never write any more. But she's back, and oh boy, it was so worth the wait. Connor was always the joker in previous books so to see the real side of him was exhilarating. He's playful, kind, and a true gentleman. I have thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a very emotional journey. I think I cried through the last 30% of the book. Even that ending had me in floods of tears! (happy ones) I look forward to reading the next book in the series. Hopefully I won't need to wait 5 years next time!
Risk what a fabulous addition to an already amazing series!
Elle has so much fire you can’t help but love her! She thinks she has Connor figured out, but as the story goes along she realizes she was wrong.
Connor thinks he knows Elle, but just can’t put his finger on it.
Elle and Connor’s story was a slow burn, but the burn was worth it. I couldn’t finish this book fast enough! I now wait as patient as I can for the next book....
4.5 Stars This is such a beautiful book. I just gobbled this book right up. I loved Elle and Connor. They have a past that comes to light. This book also had me tearing up a lot. It's just so good I couldn't put it down. I love the work Connor's parents so. That Elle and Connor both follow as well. The three little ones' story broke my heart, but this book put it right back together again. The ending and epilogue is worth everything. the reward for the journey this took us on. Karma worked so beautifully in this one. I would highly recommend this book!
YES!!! Allie Juliette Mousseau writing at her finest! She's back! Within a few pages, Risk was obviously going to be just as good as, if not better, than the previous books in the series, and I couldn't wait to get comfy and live it all. I was not disappointed in the least! Connor and Elle's story is well written. They have their moments of doubt but are fired up with doing the right thing and it guiding them where they needed to be...with a little nudge along the way... Welcome back Ms Mousseau and I can't wait for the next book you pen!!!
I just happened to be looking at previous books I've read and thought I'd see if I missed any by this author and it turns out I was missing this story. I really enjoyed this story, loved the somewhat 'second chance' for Elle and Connor. The thought that these two were a couple of teenagers who found themselves in similar situations and grew up to be advocates. My favorite part of this story is the situation with the kids, the issue with the grandfather and the injustice of it all.
This was more than a love story between Connor & Elle. It was two souls coming together & finding true love while saving three orphans. And giving them a better life. This book was a real tear jerker while you are cheering for Elle to win her court case. And for her to find her happy every after with Connor. If I could I would give this book 10 stars. Thank you Allie for writing such an amazing book. And for putting you're heart & soul into it.
Risk is a book that I have been anxiously waiting for as I love Brothers of Ink and Steel series. Connor and Elle will touch your heart and their story was highly emotional. A story of bonds, trust and unconditional love. A captivating story that will melt your heart and steal your breath.
I've just re-read the whole series and each and every Tory this at your heart ! I can't wait to read the next book ! These hot alpha males do keep you wanting to go back for more !!!!! Thank you all juliette moussaeu xx
I have waited for the next week for so long it did not disappoint. I cried so much and fell in love with the whole crew all over again cannot wait until the next one
Oh it’s flipping lovely to be back! Back amongst the Brothers of Ink and Steel and the Norths! And what a fantastic read. From the first page I was thrown full tilt in to this story. You can feel the emotions and passion Elle has for her job and in particular Jackson, Max and Lily. When she initially clashes with Connor, her opinion of him is not great. But when truths and injustice surfaces Connor and Elle find themselves thrown together to try and right these terrible wrongs. My heart!!! And when they discover a link to their past, I was a puddle on the floor! I absolutely loved this book!!
These two had a lot of chemistry and the story went fast. I enjoyed watching these two discover each other are a little more than they thought, it was a wonderful journey to watch.
