The tenth installment in the international bestselling Day After Never series follows Lucas' trek to Houston at the helm of the Freedom Army - but nothing could have prepared him for the deadly obstacles he and those he loves encounters, or an enemy so deadly that the slightest miscalculation could cost him everything.
The tenth and penultimate installment in this series. Still very entertaining, however this one ended rather abruptly which hopefully will be resolved in the final volume.
This review is really about the entire 10 book series, which I now understand has an 11th book written several years after the 10th. I read a review of the 11th book, and like all the others, it never has a conclusion to the story, so there could be 12, 13, and more. That annoys me.
Small spoiler alert!
I realized in book 10 when the main female character dies and it didn't have much of an impact on me, that I didn't really like any of the characters in the story. None were really developed to the point that I cared about them.... after 10 books, that's saying something.
I committed to the 10 book run, but grew tired of the similar plot line running through them all and reading about men's heads getting blown off. Literally.
Also, there were some issues in book 10. In the original stories, Eve is not a blood relative of Sierra but calls her Aunt. Later in the book series Sierra calls Eve her daughter. There are some other plot issues, such as Lucus going into a town to kill someone and giving everyone his real name, thereby giving the target advance warning.
All in all, not a bad idea for a Netflix series, and I'm glad to have read these books, but not my all time favorites.
Lucas Shaw now commands an army of over 5,000 after the death of his good friend Art aka The General from lung cancer. Sierra chased after him with the children and are part of the ever-growing group headed to Houston. The Cartel has successfully rid most of Texas of The Crew with the help of the Illuminati. It is Lucas' intent on driving The Cartel and the Illuminati out of Texas and restoring some semblance of order. The price he will pay will be very, very deadly.
Blake’s tenth novel in The Day After Never series, Rubicon Follows the Freedom Army as they encounter resistance in their quest. Though Lucas is a natural-born leader, he has never wanted to be in that position. Discord is rife within The Cartel and the Illuminati Which could work in Lucas' favor.
The conclusion of this novel reads as though it is the conclusion to the series. It will be interesting to see if Blake decides to go further is the story.
I just read a whole video game code, in english! After reading this 11 book series, I can sum up my experience by saying it reads like a video game. Whereas, Lucas is a character in a Post-Apocalyptic, Red Dead Redemption video game and we are reading the Author's account of what he's experiencing playing the game. The ONLY difference is, Lucas doesn't die and regenerate at his base camp, only to mount up and ride off to complete the mission challenge. The author needs to do better research, on military weapons and capabilities, the time it takes bodies to rot, smell and Bloat. Frustrating but!! A Damn good book series though!
After every series written by this author I am left craving more, another book not wanting it to be over. Mr.Blake takes me into his books as if I am really there and hearing, seeing, smelling everything in my mind. I was in such a hurry with the 2 previous books in the series that I didn't write anything because I needed to hurry to the next book. I am in awe of this author s ability to tell a story.
I am enjoying the series but have one frustration. Sierra received a note which caused her to leave the camp - we are never told what the note told her that would cause her to do so. She started to say something but was cut off. I do skip sections during battles as they are repetitive to me but never found out what the note said (it must still be in the footlocker) -I was hoping Ruby would find it but no mention in book 10 or 11. Did I miss it??

Book ten in this series. Lucas and his army battle to take strategic cities in Texas. Casualties are high but they appear to be winning the battle. Non stop action. Enjoyed immensely!
This is the first review I have written for this series. The reason for that is because once I started, I couldn't stop! The premise is believeable, the characters engaging You will love these books
On it's own th book was ok but since there was several month between thks book and the prior book its meaning if any was lost. Probably will not start another series by this author.
