Drew Avera is a Navy veteran, musician, and the bestselling author of the Dead Planet series and the Alorian Wars.

He was born and raised in rural Mississippi and grew up with a deep affection for comic books and science fiction movies and television shows. At one point he boasted a comic book collection with more than 1,000 issues. His love for comics inspired him to pursue a career as a comic book artist, but an injury to his hand ended that dream permanently.

Still, he was inspired to create in one medium or the other. He picked up a guitar at fifteen years old and began writing songs almost immediately. That “obsession” as his parents called it put him on the path to rock stardom…in his bedroom.

It was when he turned sixteen and bought the novel “What Savage Beast” by Peter David (The Incredible Hulk) that he caught the bug to be a writer. Unfortunately, it would not come to fruition until fourteen years later.

Drew enlisted in the US Navy as an Aviation Electricians Mate at seventeen years old. He served twenty years and deployed on four combat deployments to the Persian Gulf. During those deployments he would spend his free time reading books. He loved reading books in a series and that inspired his journey to becoming a fiction author.

In November 2012, at the age of thirty, Drew began his journey as an author by participating in national Novel Writing Month (NANoWriMo). He published his first book in March of 2013 and the rest, as they say, is history. With more than twenty books published in the space opera, military science fiction, cyberpunk, and dystopian genres, he has built a backlog with something for everyone who enjoys science fiction adventures.

After retiring from the Navy, he began an exciting new career in the simulation field. Drew is now focusing his efforts on building upon what he learned in his first eight years of publishing. He has plans for an all-new space opera and military science fiction series as well as new collaborations with other writers.

The best is yet to come!

Escaping illegal orders.

First of a Science Fiction series by the author Drew Avera that I’m listening to and I don’t regret it not even for a moment.
Excellent penmanship style with an amazing imagination which includes spaceships, conspiracies, betrayals and beautiful twists.
Served in the military myself, I understand illegal orders and the obligation to refuse no matter who ordered them.
What an amazing journey the author is taking us in this new audio series.

Beautiful narration by Steve Barnes for each of the characters in this creation.

TRAITOR (CONSULATE Book 1), my second read/listen from author Drew Avera. An enjoyable military science fiction very different than my first read from him. I was given an Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. The book was well-written & flowed smoothly & quickly. I look forward to reading more from this author and in this series but I'm having difficulty finding the next book in this series, in fact, Broken Worlds is high on my TBR list The book was narrated by Steve Barnes. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Audiobook: I enjoyed this fast-paced science fiction story a lot. Once I started the audiobook, I had to listen until the end. I liked the characters of Keven Hoyt and his family. There was plenty of action. I will be looking for more stories from this author. Steve Barnes' narration was fine, but it took me some time to adjust to his raspy voice. Once I did, I was able to hear the varied voices he provided during his presentation. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

The intricate plot, well-crafted characters, and engaging writing will draw you into a world of space exploration, danger, and intrigue. Barnes' narration brings the story to life, immersing you in the action and emotion of the narrative. I don't know if I will read any others in this series. The boredom of reading this was very hard to get through. The story was good but the characters were lacking. I fought through this and it was OK I guess.

Good read.

This was a good read with a lot of action and a lot of betrayal . The book had a great storyline and was fun to read. Also it stayed right up to the point that you knew everything that was going on as you read. Good book.

Commander Hoyt and his family are on the run, although he is innocent of the treason charge. Luck or not his pursuer is his friend. But when his ship goes down he knows it is only time before his friend Dickson catches up so repairs are needed and fast. Dickson isn't sure if Hoyt is really guilty of the charges as well but he can't help Hoyt and his family until he can talk to him and bring him back.

This was a awesome action packed, suspense filled book. It held me captive until I was able to finish it, and left me waiting for more. I fell in love with this family and their plight and found myself cheering them on, no one deserves to be persecuted for things they didn't do. I would love to tall you more but I don't do spoilers you have to find that out for yourselves.

Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Narrated exceptionally by Steve Barnes, who turns the immensely intense narrative of Traitor into an unforgettable fast paced adventure bursting with secrets and gut wrenching lies. The author Drew Avera definitely has spectacular series here as we follow the dangerous journey Commander Hoyt will do whatever it takes to protect his family when he is labeled a traitor within the Consulate. Fleeing to unforgiving alien world with hope, lucky and with unexpected allies, Hoyt and this family may have a chance at survival against those determined to make them suffer. Highly recommended.
