Supernatural Sisters #6

Who's Still Afraid?

Rate this book
If there are two things werewolf Tommi Grayson is good at, it’s shit-talking and killing. She has been doing a lot of both over the past few months as part of a supernatural squad tasked with hunting down the last members of an evil cult in Ireland.

However, things are never quite as simple as point and shoot.

Mortality and betrayal weigh heavy on her heart as she attempts to return to some semblance of a normal life with the rogue werewolf pack she has befriended in Berlin.

Yet the supernatural world around her is changing.

Things are in motion, things she doesn’t quite understand. With those close to her suddenly in the crosshairs, Tommi finds herself forced to choose a side in a war she didn’t even know she was fighting.

From the Aurealis Award-winning author of The Witch Who Courted Death and The Wailing Woman comes the sixth adventure in the Supernatural Sisters universe.

I had been looking forward to this book since I knew Tommi was coming back to us for another dance across the pages of her own book in the Supernatural Sisters series.
I still love this world as much after book 6 as I did after the first book, if not even more!!
Though there are references to earlier books, and the characters keep flirting in and out of each other’s books, there’s nothing like having Tommi back for another romp.
As always Maria Lewis’ pop culture references are amazing, between this book and It Came From the Deep (I’ve read both in a couple of days) I have laughed, snorted and smiled so much at these references as the cross my eyes while reading.
One of my favourites remains a new description of hell: “I paused for a moment, hoping I wasn’t actually in hell. Given I wasn’t surrounded by ten-foot-tall versions of Mel Gibson though, that seemed unlikely.”
Aussies will understand.
I love her way of introducing swearing with the appropriate accents for different characters, I love that I don’t have to imagine some scenes as I can simply recall the area from having travelled there myself (and her descriptions are spot on!!!)
I love this world, and eagerly await the next book, this one has left me wanting to read the climax of the series!!!
(Not that I want the series to end any time soon!!! I could read soooo many more books in this world!)

Another interesting instalment in the Tommi Greyson series. Once again we got to still Tommi as her fierce, feisty self ready to take on the world. I loved how we got to learn more about her family, where she came from and how it all ties to her. It answered a lot of unanswered questions for me. I loved how we got to learn more about Werewolves as a whole and the whole coming of age ceremony. I liked that we got to get a glimpse into the wailing woman series and where Sadie is currently after her book. Unfortunately, I am only halfway through that book so there are a few spoilers there but that is on me I should’ve read them in order I thought I didn’t need to, oopsie!

However, there were I few things that I didn’t like about this book. It wasn’t my favourite out of the three. The first one will always hold a special place in my heart as it was the first Maria Lewis book I read and loved.

There was far too much moving around for me in this book. I started to get lost of where we were in the world and what the heck was going on. I was getting confused and had to put this book down a few times because I was getting a headache.

I felt the plot was really all over the place as well in this one. I had a lot of trouble trying to figure out where this book was going and how it was important to Tommi and her journey in the series. Now even at the end of the book I still have no idea.

Other than that I liked this book and am hoping another one is on the way as I want to know where Tommi and Heath are going to end up after this adventure.

Maria Lewis is one of my favourite auto-buy authors so I was very excited when my copy of 'Who's Still Afraid?' arrived just before Christmas. I love everything about Tommi's story and I cannot wait to see where Maria takes the series in her next book!

It was a fantastic book I can’t wait until the last book. The rose daughter. The who’s Afraid book was happy and sad and funny at times.

So, first finished book of the year.
Gods darn it Maria, you keep getting to me. It was great to be back with Tommi, and amazing to see all the little plot lines starting to come together. Sneaky woman!
Now I just have to wait patiently for more supernatural sister suspense
