Magician and brand new parent, Eugene Law, learns that lesson the hard way when half-living shadows, kleptomanical Pixies, and a heaping dose of sacrificial Magick make for one very crowded delivery room.
Broken water and bad mojo abound in this exciting and exclusive short story from the world of Weird Florida.
This is a free story I got for signing up for Mr Shannon's newsletter.
Honestly, I wasn't sure I liked it at first. I really didn't like Porterhouse, but she had a good reason to be cranky. And then the woo-woo started up. You may never look at Tinkerbell and her fairy dust the same way again.
So I finished the whole series and the short stories.
Back in the day, this story was my introduction to the fantastic Tales of Weird Florida series. I immediately went and purchased two of the novels (You’ll find my reviews of those novels on my page). Now I decided to re-read the story.
And it was even better than I remembered. You get to read about the birth of Gene and Porter’s daughter Cathy, and all the magickal mayhem that happened during the delivery.
Poor Porter. Suddenly I’m feeling a lot more grateful for the horror-delivery of my own daughter. Things can get infinitely worse, apparently. Certainly when the father of your child is Eugene Law.
