How can she remember the night she desperately wants to forget?
Radio host Ellie Brannon fears the return of the monster who abducted her and two of her friends from the Ruins…and left her for dead. Fifteen years later, Special Agent Sam Reece reopens the cold case when new evidence comes to light about one of the victims. Ellie must trust Sam completely to have any chance of discovering the truth—especially since the gaps in her memory left them with few leads. But is someone luring Ellie into a terrifying return to the scene of the crime?
Amanda Stevens is the award-winning author of over fifty novels, including the modern gothic series, The Graveyard Queen. Her books have been described as eerie and atmospheric, “a new take on the classic ghost story.” Born and raised in the rural south, she now resides in Houston, Texas, where she enjoys binge-watching, bike riding and the occasional Horror Night with friends.
This one wasn't my favorite of the series because things wrapped up a little too quickly and a little too neatly but overall this was a really fun escape series to read in a long weekend and there were suspenseful at times and I liked the reoccurring characters throughout the story.
Amanda Stevens has always been one of my favorite authors, and although she doesn't always reach the peaks of "The Queen of the Graveyards," her books are still a good read.
Amanda Stevens é sempre stata una delle mie autrici preferite e anche se non sempre raggiunge i picchi de "La regina dei cimiteri" i suoi libri sono comunque una buona lettura.
I am a big fan of Amanda Stevens and was missing her when I saw this book in the Harlequin Intrigue section. I had to have it even thought I don't read much Harlequin. A damn good read with a little intrigue as promised. Fifteen years ago Ellie Brannon was left for dead while her two friends were abducted. Only one girl was found. Now Ellie thinks her monster has returned.
Another in the Echo Lake series, in which Ellie Brannon thinks something is wrong when an anonymous caller keeps seeking contact during her radio show. Ellie is convinced it has to do with the abduction of two of her friends when she was a teenager.
FBI agent Sam Reece has never closed the case and when he begins looking into the case again, it confirms Ellie's fears. But they still aren't sure what is going on until he convinces her to go with him back to the Ruins, the site of the abduction.
When Ellie is nearly killed, both are now convinced that someone is out to get her, but how can they find out when the other teen is acting so strangely?
Talk about a awesome ending to a series Amanda deliveres. Its full of suspense and action with a little of creepiness blended in. I loved the characters Ellie Brannon and Agent Sam Reece. They had grown over the last 15 years. But I like the way Amanda ties the lose ends up in this story. We see old characters and there ties to the past. I love how she weaves the answers to this stories. Its tieing the answers in a very fascinating package. The love story is just starting in this it has no real beginning. Its interesting. I look forward to her next series. J
Fifteen years ago three girls were attacked in the abandoned psychiatric hospital. Two were kidnapped. Only one escaped. Now fifteen years later radio host, Ellie Brannon, was getting phone calls from the kidnapped victim. Was she still alive? FBI agent, Sam Reece, has come back into Ellie's life to find the answer and to protect Ellie from the danger still out there.
If you love suspense novels you will love this one. You need to read books one and two first.
I am flummoxed by all the good reviews for this book. This book wrapped up so nice and neat in the last 3% that remained (according to my kindle). It was a dumb ending, bringing in a character who barely was a part of the story. I cannot recommend this book whatsoever. Trying to decide if I should even read the first two books in the series (somehow it’s not advertised well that this is a series, so I missed that memo).
A satisfying conclusion to a gripping trilogy about decade-old secrets, crippling guilt, unseen enemies, and main characters with intense chemistry. By now, I'm a long-time fan of Ms. Stevens as I have yet to find a work of hers whose evocative scenery descriptions and intriguing plot won't keep me utterly engrossed!
HI #1943 = 3.5 stars . This is a very good mystery story but if you are expecting an actual full blown romance, even on the side, you will not be finding it here. The whole book, however, is a great introduction to a possible future romance between the main characters.
Fast read, about three teenage girls that went to a old abandoned building on a dare and one never returned. 15 years later, things start happening to bring it all back to the surface.
