BINGE READ. KEEP THE LIGHTS ON.  LOCK YOUR DOORS.

A mutating plague has killed two thirds of the world's population. The new threats come from desperate survivors. And Mike Crenshaw is looking for solid ground on which to find safety and peace.

From the world of The Traveler Series comes a new cast of characters, new obstacles, and the same devastating, world-altering virus which plunges society into the depth of a dystopian hell.

GROUNDED begins in the aftermath of The Scourge. Forced from what they thought was a safe haven, Mike Crenshaw and his friends embark on new journeys of faith, hoping against hope they reunite with lost family and find sanctuary.

At the same time, a government lab has found the key to unlocking a new version of The Scourge, one that might threaten to kill those who somehow survived its first unstoppable sweep across the globe.

And a new version of what was once Texas is beginning to form under the thumb of ruthless tyrants who call themselves the Cartel.

It's a heart-pounding addition to a story that will keep you up at night with the lights on and the doors locked.

Enjoyed it

This was a nice little series. The characters were interesting, with some being likable and some being nasty bottom feeders. The writing was smooth and flowed well with great editing. There was plenty of action and overall it was a good read.

Mike Crenshaw, his girlfriend, and his best friend decide it is time for them to search out family in hopes that they have survived the Scourge and/or the upheaval that followed. The remainder of their group stays on to search out the rumored utopia of central Florida. The government is desperately trying to re-engineer the virus to suit its nefarious purposes. And, the Cartel is taking hold in the territory formerly known as Texas.

Abrahams’ third and final novel in The Scourge series, Grounded follows each group as they grapple with the new normal. Life is hard; and survival is harder. There are several story arcs to follow. Some tie directly to The Traveler Series. Others follow the new characters.

It is interesting to see how many of The Traveler Series supporting characters arrived in their positions. Though in at least one case the plunge in their career is not fully developed.

4 out of 5 stars.

A New Start

Enjoying the beginning of the scourge and how it came about. Excellent storyline that compliments The Traveler Series. I don't need to give you a synopsis. You can read that before you get the book. Just know you will not be disappointed with this series.

The chapter that sticks out in my mind is chapter 12. I read It twice. It explains how the government learned from SARS and implemented it's findings to keep the spread of Covid19. There was a lot of information packed in this book that applies to our situation today. Thank you Tom Abrahams.

Definitely recommend this book . 5++ stars.

Grounded. Tom Abrahams

In this excellent series the story is based on survival in a world of chaos. Some of America's and the world's demise a deadly virus, the "scourge". The year is 2030. Some of the survivors are opportunists, who survive at the expense of others. Others band together in small or large groups to protect themselves and live as a large family. Others use the virus as a way to take command of large areas of the country by intentionally infecting the population to gain control. This category the most heinous of all. This is an excellent read and unfortunately a scenario that could occur. My highest recommendation!

Overall this book is enjoyable and the characters are engaging, though the chief antagonists are actually more interesting than the "hero" of the story. Spelling and grammatical errors distract throughout this book, even more than in the last two of the series. There are also contradictions that pop up once in a while that leave me confused. Either contradictory actions or contradictory thoughts, or contradictions in story from one sentence to the next. Good editing could have cleared up a lot of these issues.

The pacing was good and there was enough action to keep me turning the pages.

Grounded (The Scourge Book 3)

This book was excellent but it was horrible. The horrible things they were testing on those people. All to kill the remaining people. One thing that delighted me was a big part was happening in my beloved Texas. In fact I was amazed they mentioned Luling,Texas!! We moved to Luling when my kids were in elementary school. They graduated from there and we still go back for the "Watermellon Thump". The book made me sad to think that people could do such horrible thinks to each other. We need book a book 4!

This end of the Scourge series seems to finish abruptly and with a lot of questions as to what happens. So many characters are in very different places now and it just kind of finishes without much fanfare. I like Mike, Miriam and Brice and it is frustrating to not have resolution. Sharp and her lab are just absolutely evil people and this ends with no real justice for them either. Maybe a lot of this is covered in the older but later Traveler series. If so, I don't remember.

It was good but not a great series. It followed at least four groups of people from the mid west to Florida , Texas, Georgia and for some their travels to family members. I don't want to give anything away and spoil your read. I have to say that there was a lot of action going on . Because of that I have to say that was good. The end it seams like if it might be another book that needs to come.

Grounded (scourge series book 3)

Tom’s character development is great. In the beginning of the series you see folks who have no self esteem, they’re shallow and really have no direction in life. Enter, the scourge and as we travel with them through their journey they adapt, become strong, fierce and determined to survive another day! The traveler series is just as good! I highly recommend these books especially in light of our current battle with a pandemic!

Read three books in two days

The first three books in this series are a hit. I can’t wait for the fourth!
The characters are likeable but not these over prepared know everything and can do everything to survive. It’s definitely a more realistic view on how normal people would deal in this situation

The Scourge books 1-3

I read all three books and liked them all. The story holds your interest and the good characters are likable. You will hate the bad guys which is expected. Would like to read more about Mike, Miriam, and her father. I have read other books by Mr Abraham’s and highly recommend his books!

Good background to the traveler series

It’s probably unfair of me to be disappointed in this book but compared to the Traveler it just doesn’t stand up as well. There are more typos and grammar errors in the Scourge too. I didn’t really notice any in the other series. Seems like Mr. Abrahams was in a bit of a rush to finish.

Very good story!

Well written, lots of action and a story you just don't want to put down. Most of the main characters are well liked, I just wish the Scientists is this story would get their heads out of there rear ends and work together. But I am looking forward too the next book in this series.

Virus!

We now know more than we ever wanted to about a viral plague. This series is great because ordinary people have to learn to defend themselves and loved ones. There is realistic character growth not always good but that’s life. I have to wait now for book four.

Pandemic on steroids

Loved this series. Going on to read travelers. Highly recommend to the post apocalypse fans. Good character development. Just wish we could have seen closure on the CEO of bad guys. Dr Sharp.

What a ride!

I read the first two books in one sitting, the last one was no exception. This was an absolute corker of an adventure.
I can't wait to read the other series that some of these characters also inhabit.
Thanks for a great read, what a pleasure to experience.

My Musings

Non-stop action, some of it gruesome, lots of killing. Some really evil villains in this one, yet several of the main characters show amazing bravery and strength. I can't wait to read the next one in this series. Happy ☺reading 📚!

Out of the kettle, into the pot…

A small group of Scourge survivors fights against immeasurable odds. Those with baser instincts plot to create a Cartel to control Texas, and to manipulate the Scourge itself.

As the trilogy comes to an end, Mike and his friends complete there searches for family and safety and the Cartel begins its reign of terror in Texas. Good collection of books, as a standalone and also back fill for the Traveller series.

A better take

A lot of elements intersecting. Believable characters. Believable scenario. I read straight thru to see where it all headed.

An apocalypse to sink your teeth into.

Realistic scenario

Unlike so many of these, this was a story I could relate to. No great peepers just ordinary folks trying to survive.

Where Can We Go

Life after the plague was dangerous because survival was driving everyone to kill to get food or a safe haven. The house was attacked twice. The group splits up.
