Heart Falls #8.5

Three Weddings and a Baby

Rate this book
After the stories are done, their stories go on.

One of the great parts of writing a long, family saga is that I get to revisit characters who have already hit their happily-ever-after. Over the past couple of years I’ve written short vignettes revisiting characters from the HEART FALLS series. They’re written specifically for readers who have already enjoyed the main stories. These visits with favourite friends were sent out in newsletters, and are available for FREE ON MY WEBSITE.

But, for readers who want the stories on their ereader, I’ve made them available digitally for your convenience. Check first to see where each vignette fits into the full series if you want to avoid spoilers for books you haven’t yet read!

AS WELL, this collection contains a BRAND NEW short story for Josiah Ryder and Lisa Coleman. This collection is the ONLY place to read this story!

THIS COLLECTION CONTAINS:
1. Reading Order for the HEART FALLS series

The following wedding vignettes:
2. Surprised at Bootstomp Point (Caleb & Tamara) 3K words
3. Heartfelt at Heart Falls (Walker & Ivy) 4K words
4. A Wild Horse Wedding (Luke & Kelli) 3.5K words

And the short story:
5. Oh Baby! (Josiah & Lisa) 17K words

A cute puppy, a wedding, and a baby.  that’s it. That’s the blurb. Lol.

Longer cheater version:

Lisa and Josiah are thoroughly enjoying each other’s company. He’s got his veterinarian work; she’s been busy stepping in to help her sisters and friends whenever and wherever they need. And they have Ollie, the sweet little terrier that can’t get enough of either of her favourite humans.

But as one year ends, and a new one begins, Lisa can’t help but wonder if there’s something she’s missing. What exactly is she supposed to focus on now that her extended family is settled and all her sisters are happy?

Ollie knows…

6. Chapter One of ROCKY MOUNTAIN FOREVER

I hope you enjoy these visits to Heart Falls!

Vivian Arend Heart Falls Vignette Collection Vol 1 Three Weddings and a Baby

Happiness in Small Packages

I'm glad I got to enjoy these. They are essentially bonus epilogues for three couples and a short story for a fourth. All are wonderful additions to these Heart Falls love stories. 🥰💚👏🎉

Each comes with a surprise from at least one side of the couple. You'll have to see for yourself, but I should note that prior reading is highly recommended.

I'll break it down a little by couple:

Tamara Coleman, along with Caleb, Emma, and Sasha Stone, start us off with their tearful union. It's sweet, tender, and perfect for them. 😢🤧🩵

Ivy Fields gets the kind of wedding that suits her with a man who thinks she hung the stars. Oh heck, I think she feels the same about Walker Stone. 😘

She closed her eyes as her lips curled into a smile. Life lately had been richly wonderful because Walker was—

Well, honestly, he was her heart.

-- Ivy Fields

Of course, there are goat shenanigans and all. 😂

This brings us to Kelli James and Luke Stone. Their only plan is no plan. Hehehe.... And the witnesses to all of it take the cake. 😍 Very apropos.

Last but not least, we have Lisa Coleman and her tenderhearted veterinarian, Josiah Ryder. This is the short story. There are a couple of surprises in here, the most obvious of which is Sunshine (not the actual name), but the emu might be the best.

This essentially goes from conception (*brows wiggle*) to birth, with a lot of cameos and crossovers, which I ALWAYS love.

I love the early warning system they found themselves with. It provides plenty of chuckles. I also love the passion and understanding these two have. It's a great addition to the collection.

I read along as I listened to the audio book. The narrator is Tatiana Sokolov. She's a really good narrator. It's hard to find new things to say when you've listened to and reviewed dozens of the books she's narrated, so I'm gonna recommend you give her a try.

Story: 4.5 stars
Narration: 4.5 stars

Three and a half
You’ve probably heard the saying “ save a horse and ride a cowboy “ , well this author takes that little joke all the way ! This book catches up with couples who have previously had their romances told and let’s the reader know what happened next. I believe the first three vignettes were available previously either on her website or available via her newsletters but the final novella length story is all brand shiny and new.
For me the first two tales were perhaps a little bit too similar but nevertheless I did enjoy catching up with these characters. This third story had me smiling particularly when I realised who or should that be what the witnesses at the wedding were ! Finally we come to the new short story and it’s possibly the steamiest one here whilst also being without a doubt the cutest. I think the word cute perfectly describes these stories because they are quite simply well written and very sweet and obviously a huge treat for fans of this series. I did find this was a quick read but then again sometimes I don’t really have time for something drawn out and overly complicated. I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with these characters and if you are in the mood for something hot and in a saddle then you should definitely check out this authors work.
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

I’m a total fangirl of slices of life/vignettes of couples I’ve met, or just characters in a series I love and adore and this collection definitely hit the spot. I loved catching up with the Heart Falls crew and seeing where life has taken them thus far.

The novella was a quick fun and sweet ride and I do love that the Whiskey Creek Girls all found their HEA’s, even if it wasn’t in Rocky Mountain House.

And as for that little tease of Rocky Mountain Forever?? That is going to be one wild ride!

There’s absolutely no doubt I’m a passionate Vivian Arend fan. I first discovered Ms Arend through my love of just about everything paranormal and at the time, I could never imagine reading contemporary romance; that was soon to change. As with a few of my other favourite authors, I decided that if I loved Ms Arend’s PNR so much, why not try her contemporary work and see what I thought. Well, the rest is history.

Many, many books later, I am still hopelessly addicted to everything this author writes. From Granite Lake Wolves, Takhini Wolves and Borealis Bears, to the Turner Twins, Adrenaline Search and Rescue and then onto the Six Pack Ranch, Thompson & Sons and now all the stories that comprise Heart Falls; this hopeless romantic is totally hooked!

So naturally when you get the opportunity to read just a little bit more about some of your favourite couples and where their love has taken them, you’re going to be excited. That’s what Ms Arend has given her readers in this short, but warm and fuzzy account of the next step in Calen and Tamara, Walker and Ivy, Luke and Kelli’s lives. And let’s not forget Josiah and Lisa; with everyone married off and moving on to the next stage of their future, Lisa seems a little lost. But Josiah is pretty sure he has the remedy to her need to be a useful and her love of all things family.

These are just little snippets of the next chapter in our couple’s journeys, but they are oh so wonderful. And just when you think it’s all done, Ms Arend gives us a little teaser of Rocky Mountain Forever. Talk about whetting our appetites, I simply can’t wait!

This collection of viginettes is intended for those of us who have read Arend's Heartfalls series. The first three short stories are the weddings of the Stone brothers which of course also includes the wedding of Tamara Coleman who married Caleb Stone. The three are short, full of Hallmark level sappiness and barely PG. But if like me you fell in love with the characters in their stories you will still enjoy another look into their lives at the time they become husbands and wives. The last story which is considerably longer than the first three revolves around the relationship of Lisa Coleman and Josiah Ryder. While Lisa's three sisters Karen, Tamara and Julie have all chosen the marriage route Lisa is firmly in the "We don't need a piece of paper to prove we are in love and committed to each other" camp. That is until an "Oops!" happens and Lisa discovers she's with child. I don't think I'm spoiling anything here because if you've read the books, in the last one when Zach and Julie get married, Lisa is there already married and pregnant. In this story the author rewrites history because Lisa and Josiah attend the wedding with Lisa very pregnant and still not married.
This books content is more in keeping what you normally find in this series. There's humor and romance and the happy feels of sister love and male bonding. There's some humor, a little bit of graphic sex and some cursing. We get to attend a fourth wedding and the birth of "the baby" in three weddings and a baby which more correctly should have been titled Four Weddings and a Baby.

Awww, weddings and babies and family. All set in Heart Falls. WONDERFUL. No lie, Vivian Arend give good sweeping family drama and VERY satisfying conclusions. My heart eyes are strong with this one.

Revisiting the Stone brothers and their special someones gave us a glimpse into those snapshot moments of their various weddings. Some are planned, some are on the fly, and they're ALL fun and romantic.

Josiah and Lisa's story introduced the baby portion of this set and BOY DO I LOVE INTUITIVE ANIMALS. Bonus, we got to snuggle in with the Coleman women and their special someones as they do their daily thing while Lisa percolates her surprise bundle.

Satisfying glimpses into life after the HEA. I'm so here for this!

This was a fun read that revisited couples from some of her previous books. Having read the books in Vivian Arend's Stones of Heart Falls series, I really enjoyed returning to the family to see their spontaneous weddings. All three wedding stories are pretty short and to the point. The fourth book, the baby, was also tied to this family, but I hadn't previously read the couple's story. That said, that particular story stood pretty well on it's own since it was a little longer than the others. But there were a lot of family mentions and references that I couldn't connect to.

I'd highly recommend this collection of short stories, if you've read the books that these stories are basically epilogues for. If you haven't read the stories, they're still cute, but they wouldn't hold the same amount of meaning.

If you're a fan of the Heart Falls series you are going to want to read this vignette novella. Vivian Arend gives us snippets from previous stories. As the title says three weddings and a baby. If you read a series you wonder what happens after the book ends? Well here's our chance to see what happens to some of your favorite characters. I loved all these quick stories and of course wish they were longer but I always wish any good story was longer lol. I can't wait to see what's next.

Three Weddings and a Baby

WOW! This book is definitely one to read. It was great remembering Tamara's and Julia's weddings. Oh can't forget about Luke and Kelli's wedding. They all had beautiful backdrops. Now it seems it was the Coleman sister's way that they were the ones to propose to their men. Lisa and Josiah was no exception. The birth of their daughter was a little unconventional but understandable as they were in the country. Getting a glimpse of the next book was intriguing as well. FANTASTIC job Vivian! I would recommend this book!

Loved this look at The Silver Stone Ranch weddings & the surprise of Lisa & Josiah’s baby. It was also fun to see Zach & Julia’s wedding again. All three weddings were simple & beautiful in their own ways. The fact that Lisa & Josiah’s baby showed up two weeks early & Josiah had to deliver wasn’t surprising......something was bound to happen to make it memorable for them. This was a sweet, fun reminder of the stories that brought all these couples together. Definitely recommend to read.

Great read! bonus stories!

This was a great little collection of bonus stories! I loved getting to go back and revisit these characters and see an update into their lives. The set up is done really well as well with the little lead ins that let you know where in the series this bonus stories are set. I loved getting to see the weddings and the bonus novella of the baby. Very cute and well done!

These stories are lovely glimpses of previously unshared glimpses at our favorite couples. It helps that she has included chronology tips for each one.

Revisit

This book was a wonderful revisit of many of the main characters in the Heart Falls world. The best were the unconventional weddings. Those were truly heartfelt.

A treat to see what happens after those words, THE END.
I didn’t go back and reread every book first, so the small nuances are not crystal clear but each of these small, extra, after the ending pieces made my heart glow with warmth.

SURPRISED AT BOOTSTOMP POINT - TAMARA AND CALEB
Such a great sweet way for this special surprise event to happen.
Loved how Sasha and Emma were a big part of what happens.

HEARTFELT AT HEART FALLS - IVY AND WALKER
Very sweet how Walker surprised Ivy by doing what he did.

A WILD HORSE WEDDING - KELLI AND LUKE
Very spontaneous way to behave and great the wild herd was there too. Very apt for these two.

OH BABY - LISA AND JOSIAH
My favourite in this vignette, mainly due to these two being a favourite couple and Ollie of course doing her bit.
We also get a little mini story with a wonderful ending.

I love this author and this series, also the spin offs and all the stories that are connected to this wonderful series.

This are basically short stories or chapters telling us what happened after the book finished.
I love this idea. You do wonder what goes on after the ending.
If it’s in a series, then sometimes your lucky enough to catch snippets of other characters and how they are getting on. But with this collection, you need not wonder anymore.

It also gives the reader a list of books in this series (I do love a list) which is handy as I slipped up and missed a book (which I remedied as soon as I realised)
So I do recommend you read this collection after each book. (Well it gave me an excuse to read the books again)
You can read these without reading the books first, but it does seem a little pointless (I get the impression they are for the fans rather than a new reader)

The following wedding vignettes:
Surprised at Bootstomp Point (Caleb & Tamara)
Surprising Tamara isn’t the easiest at the best of times, but Caleb is determined to make this special event happen without her coordinating it. With help from his oldest daughter, and a return visit to a memorable meeting spot, it’s time for Tamara to truly become a part of the Stone family. Timeline: This scene takes place on the first day of summer after A Rancher’s Heart and before A Rancher’s Song.
Review.....
Caleb is trying to surprise Tamara, and with the help of his eldest daughter he intends to surprise the love of his life.
We get to catch up with his brothers and see how they are all getting along since the end of A Rancher’s Heart.
It’s a cute little snippet of Caleb and Tamara, I don’t want to give much away, but it’s the happy ending that we should have gotten at the end of their book.

Heartfelt at Heart Falls (Walker & Ivy)
Walker Stone and Ivy Fields are getting married, and all their family—even the goats—seem to want to be involved. Which is why Walker takes charge with a surprise to make this day perfect for both him and Ivy.
Review.....
Walker and Ivy are getting married, it’s fun catching up with couples you’ve already fallen in love with.
I liked Walker and I was glad when he got his story.
The details in this short glimpse into their lives is just as detailed and wonderful as the main story.
If you want to find out what Walker has planned, you need to read this book.

A Wild Horse Wedding (Luke & Kelli)
It’s late April, and Kelli James is about to stir up some trouble for her fiancé, Luke Stone. Good thing there’s nothing he likes better than her kind of mischief.
Review.....
Luke and Kelli, this one had so much fun and laughter in it.
This family knows how to throw a wedding. They’ve thrown a few, but when both the bride and groom get swept away with wedding fever, they do the only thing they can do.
Beautifully written, it had me smiling through the vignette.

And a short story .... Oh Baby! (Josiah & Lisa)
Description.....
What exactly is she supposed to focus on now that her extended family is settled and all her sisters are happy.
Review.....
This short story hasn’t been seen before, and I was eager to read it.
Lisa and Josiah have been together for a year now, everything is going great. All her sisters are happy and with men that love them.
Christmas is a time for celebrations, and each sister has something to be thankful for.
I have to admit I loved Ollie the terrier, definitely the star of the book.
Josiah is at a loss, Lisa isn’t her usual self, something is bothering her, and it’s driving him crazy.
We have a terrier that demands lots of attention, stray emus and a herd of caribou.
Lisa is feeling a little lost, she needs job or a purpose.
And Josiah may have just what she she’s looking for.....
And the surprise that’s waiting in the wings.... well you just need to look at the title and work it out 😉

This finished of this book nicely.

And then a sneak peak at chapter one of the next book due out ... ROCKY MOUNTAIN FOREVER
And I can’t wait for that one.

So if your a big fan of Ms Arend, then I urge you to grab a copy. It’s a great way to read the snippets without the newsletters.
