Very cute story about Spidey and Venom body-swapping and getting into various shenanigans. This is a kid-friendly book, so there’s no gore or horror typically associated with Venom — it’s all very cartoony, sweet and nice, and I enjoyed it a lot and had a few good laughs along the way.

A children's comic where Spider-Man and Venom are roommates. Venom switches bodies with Spider-Man and hijinks ensue. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The art and story are like watching a cartoon.

This is a perfectly acceptable kids title. Which is exactly what it is. It's a kids gateway to Marvel. Naturally this means it goes for a more cartoony tone, similar to Teen Titan's Go! I'm not one that prescribes to the opinion that makes it automatically trash, it's just a different approach to reaching it's target audience.

Thought it was super cute! Obviously it’s a bit childish since it’s aimed at younger readers, but I could still enjoy the storyline, and I honestly really love the more cartoony style! It is so well drawn and looks so beautiful! Especially with some of the colours and stuff. Overall, a short but cute read. I enjoyed it!

The artwork is super cute in this one! 😃

(And if you've got any younger readers in your life that are interested in reading comics, or like Spider-Man or Venom as characters, I definitely recommend this one. The story is very silly and easy to read.)

a woman looking off into space without realizing that Spiderman is peeking out from her ceiling

I started downsizing my bookshelf and realized I have another Mariko Tamaki book lol. This is wild. I had read this before but I don't really look at authors unless its a story I really adore. Since the art is different in each story of hers, I didn't realize I had another. I love the art, its so cute with nice silhouettes. My only gripe is that with this style, the story generally isn't that complex. Its always geared towards younger audiences so the story is pretty simple. Spiderman and Venom are roommates, Venom steals Spiderman's body and he has to get it back. Spiderman sings a lot for some reason but its a cute little one shot. Out of all the Tamaki books I've read I like this one the most so far since it felt like the actual characters even if they were silly. With Harley Quinn Breaking Glass, it felt like a different story superimposed into DC. Her other stories are kinda off somehow.

Spider-Man is having trouble with his roommate Venom sharing the responsibilities and shouldering his weight. He's about to talk with him when Venom decides to swap bodies so he can have a better chance at winning a game show. Can Spider-Man get his body back and figure out the roommate situation? Plus a bonus Spider-hero team-up story of Spider-Man, Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, and Ghost Spider team up to defeat a huge group of villains banding together.

This was a funny adventure. I love that Venom stole Spider-Man's body just so he could go on the superhero equivalent of America Ninja Warrior. And when their bodies get swapped again with a cat and squirrel it gets even funnier. (Though I was disappointed Squirrel Girl didn't show up. It would've been the perfect opportunity.) The last story was one I've read before in another collection of Spider-Man comics for middle grades. It is also pretty funny as the villains fail at math and their end goal. This is a good pick for middle graders who are Spidey fans.

Notes on content: No language issues. No sexual content. Only villain on villain violence (and even that is more implied than shown) and accidental falls.

Tamaki has gotten a lot of good will out of me for her enjoyable and heartfelt This One Summer, but I think I am not into her superhero content, at least based on this and One Bad Day - Two-Face. We (the kids and I) actually did enjoy her Thor & Loki: Double Trouble, but I’m more a fan of Thor than Spider-Man in general, and that is true for the Double Trouble books as well. This one was fun and true to the characters, but very random and inconsequential. I actually would give another Double Trouble a try if the kids wanted because they’re breezy and the Thor one wasn’t bad, but I really need to seek our more independent work by Tamaki.

Selanjutnya, Spider-Man dan Venom pun akhirnya bertemu.

As much as this was a more "kiddie"-oriented Spider-Man book, I honestly enjoyed it a lot. There's a joy to the sort of simplicity of the narrative that still nicely references a lot of deeper Spider-Man lore and really had fun with itself. The premise is crazy - Spider-Man and Venom being roommates AND Venom somehow finding a machine that allows them to swap brains. And the reason he wants to be in Spider-Man's body is still tied to him being a villain but remains rather silly.

This was a really fun book and I admit that I wouldn't mind seeing more comics of this nature. Plus the sort of cuter dimensions of this book sort of reminded me of the Spider-Man Manga proportions without going full cutesy chibi, if you get my drift.
