Count along with Sesame Street! The Count enlists his friends to demonstrate many ways to forwards, backwards, and by 2s, 5s, and 10s. Elmo and others also present simple addition and subtraction exercises and ordinal numbers in this fun introduction to math concepts. The characters show math being used in common settings, such as counting fruit at the grocery store, which encourages young readers to practice counting during their everyday activities.
Here’s a great non-fiction picture book gem for building math skills and teaching children to problem-solve. I See 1, 2, 3: Count Your Community with Sesame Street brings fun and active learning to life. Sesame Street characters illustrate math concepts in common surroundings; the grocery store, the playground, or just walking down the street. The bright pictures present simple math concepts such as addition, subtraction, more and fewer. In pure Sesame Street fashion, math and problem solving become fun and inventive. Elmo prompts readers to count the number of different colors used when drawing with crayons. Zoe likes to read books and look at the pictures, but also counts the pages of her books. Everyday activities turn math concepts into games that kids will enjoy and want to practice over and over.
I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Like all things Sesame Street, this is likely to be appealing to your child. It has some of the favorite characters teaching how to count. So of course, you will see the Count. Fun book.
It teaches counting (forwards and backwards) and math language (lesser, fewer, first, second third) It tried to do addition and subtraction but my kiddo didn't understand the purpose of those pages.
Photographs are colorful and look like they are straight off of set.
