Bethany goes to Shine performing arts school on a scholarship so when she gets the chance to perform at the royal Albert hall with her favourite Brit award winning singer she absolutely says yes.

However as she has to stay in the school dorms, Lizabeth the school bully teases her and worries we that she'll tell her friends she's only at the school through a scholarship, but will her friends mind that she hasn't got loads of money unlike them?

With some totally relatable issues from bullying, fitting in with friends and money worries, Bethany has a lot to think about and worry about however I loved seeing how she got her time to show her abilities and the dream opportunity for her showed off her talents too!

I like how this shows that not every day is perfect.I also like how Bethany got a scholarship as it shows all the points of view throught the girls, I like that each girl has a different life out of school like Bethany with one parent.

I like that bethany has now got an opportunity from shine and that she gets to sing at the royal Albert hall and with her favourite singer.

I like how this shows the reality of acting and what people do for it like Bethany living in a boarding school just for the concert so she still can perform.

I like how Lizabeth is carried out throught all the stories. This time she is room mates with Bethany.

I like how the use of Lisabeth black mailing Bethany about her scholarship pushed her to be true to her friends but couldn't as they were all too busy.

I like that Jasmine day talked to Bethany and gave her confidence about her singing and about being bullied,as well as being able to have a solo.

I like how the girls are find with Bethany and her scholarship as well as helping Bethany stay at Chloe's house to get away from Lisabeth.

I like how Bethany solo went well and that finally she told the girls she had a scholarship and that they are proud and Jasmine day ask Bethany to sing on her new album.

The story in this one feels nostalgic with its themes on school bullying, the power of trust and friendship, as well as, in aiming for your dreams kind of way.

“Shine: Bethany Sings Out,” by Holly Webb. Bethany is struggling with school at Shine Academy. Every morning she has to wake up early to catch the bus and she is always behind on homework. Worse yet, she hasn’t had any opportunities to audition for parts like her friends. When Bethany is chosen to sing for the Wish Concert alongside the famous singer Jasmine Day, she is so excited. Things are starting to improve until a classmate threatens to expose a secret of Bethany’s.

(Book 99 of 100) This was the last book in the Shine Series and I’m so glad that Bethany finally got a storyline. This book shows how low socioeconomic families can struggle with money, among other things. I give this book a 4/5-star rating. I recommend this to students who like stories about the performing arts.
