Awesome Characters and Story, But…
First, let me say that I absolutely adored the characters and the plotline of this story. The heroine is immediately sympathetic because we cannot like how her father treats her and his expectations of her. We can empathize for the hero when he feels overworked and overburdened, just wanting a few weeks off to enjoy his passion for painting while he goes incognito; he doesn't want anyone to realize he is a powerful duke. When we actually see him in his painterly world, he is utterly charming and filled with wonder about what he paints; you can truly sense it is a passion of his. He and the heroine meet up while she is pretending to be a lady’s maid because she doesn’t want to attract attention either. So they are both presenting a false front to the world. Yet, they are completely true to themselves, and they come to know each other more profoundly as the maid and the painter as they likely would have as an earl's daughter and a duke. Watching them come to appreciate each other, especially aspects of themselves that others did not appreciate, was a delight. They have a rocky road to their HEA, of course, but it was very well done.
I have read a number of books by this author, and I usually really like the characters and the plot. But for some reason, this author makes many mistakes, most of which other authors don't make in terms of grammar, punctuation, and usage. There is enough to detract somewhat from the stories for me, unfortunately. I did receive an ARC copy, but the first 10% to Amazon still showed the noted errors in the published version. Punctuation isn't always correct around dialogue. Wrong words are sometimes used, like later instead of latter or the wrong version of *employ.* More problematic, perhaps, were subordinate clauses not joined to the sentences they belong to. He just leaves them hanging out there as phrases, making the text read oddly to the inner ear. There are lots of comma splices, too. In this book, there's a more egregious error than I usually see in his books. The fake name the heroine gave the hero was Miller; her real last name is Duval. But just a scene later, as the hero is thinking of her, he refers to her as Miss Duval, not Miss Miller! And this just didn't happen once; it happened several times. I absolutely love this author's stories for the characters and the story itself, but I really wish that he employed a copy editor so that these kinds of mistakes didn't happen.
This would have been a 5-star review if not for these issues.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review. As I’ve said before, I always give honest reviews whether people appreciate them or not.
We meet The Duke of Suffolk, or Ian Temple as we’ll later know him, discussing business with his Secretary, Stephan. He’s really tired of London, tired of all the matchmaking mothers and tired of his own mother constantly harping about his needing a wife. So His Grace decides to suddenly wear not quite peasant clothes and take off to some town so he can paint. -_- Meanwhile, Lady Margaret Duval is in quite a tiff with her father. He wants her to marry his best friend, Viscount Evans and she is adamantly opposed to it. She decides to wear her maid Susan’s dress and walk into town with her so she can have a day of freedom. Susan, really doesn’t want to do it or to join her, but she doesn’t have much choice. So while they’re out and about, they come upon a handsome painter. They introduce themselves as ladies maids, Susan Parkinson and Meg Miller. Susan is pretty uncomfortable, but Meg is kind of star struck I guess.
Ian himself is struck by how beautiful Meg is, and how wonderful she is to converse with and even to draw. Basically, Meg continues to sneak out of the house in her maid’s dress so she can meet up with Ian. He in turn is always at their first meeting place in hopes she will arrive. For two people in masquerades, they are truly getting to know one another. Too bad they have no clue that they are both part of the aristocracy since that might have saved them both some pain and grief. Regardless of her secret relationship with Ian, Viscount Evans wants to move things forward which involve signing the betrothal contract and the Duvals going to London.
When Meg never returns, Ian returns to London and resumes his title and responsibilities. The rest of the story is a whirlwind. Ian thinking he was in love with a maid and Meg thinking she was in love with a painter. Lord Evans, being a skeevy man, doesn’t make the situation any better for Meg. I have never read anything from G.L. Snodgrass before. They began this book with enough impetus that I thought I would enjoy it. As the story continued, I really enjoyed Ian and Meg in their process of falling in love. I enjoyed immensely the little attraction between Stephan and Susan in the latter part of the story. Now I have to go back to read the first two stories of this series, and I REALLY want to read the fourth story A Duke’s Decision which releases on September 1, 2020.

This is the first book I have read by this author and will not be the last. What a wonderful, steamy, romance between two people both trying to be something they are not.
Ian Temple is the fourth Duke of Suffolk and owns almost half of England. He has more responsibility then just about anyone except the King. All he wants to do is escape for a weekend. Go someplace and be a normal person
wear normal clothes and be able to paint without anyone asking anything of him. Painting is what keeps him sane.
For only a little while he can wear what he wants, eat when he wants and paint whatever and whenever he wants.
He can't wait to get started. He disguises himself with old clothes and uses just the simple name of Ian Temple.
Lady Margaret Duval, daughter of an Earl has been raised as a Lady but never let to have a season. Her father is very strict only letting her go to dance where most of the people are older no young man she could meet.
He controls everything she does and where she goes. Now the she has come of age, she is called to his study .
She founds out he has betrothed her to his best friend, one Lord Evens, a Viscount. Lord Evens is a mean, old,
short man that makes her skin crawl. He looks at her like his favorite mistress.
Margaret decides if she is to never have a chance at life she is going to see as much as see can first.
Wearing one of her maids dresses she sneaks out and goes to the village. This is first time with out chaperones.
Her and her maid come across Ian and let him think they are both Ladies maids. Margaret gives him her name of Meg Miller.
What will happen when two people of the upper class meet under disguises never telling the other the truth.
This is a quick read, with lots going one, and great characters.
I hope you get a copy to see how it all turns out. Their are plenty of twist and turns in the story.

Lady Margaret Duval is being forced by her father into an arranged marriage to his best friend, Viscount Evens. Margaret despises the Viscount as he is truly horrible without any redeemable qualities. She disguises herself as a ladies’ maid, Meg Miller, and walks into town where she encounters Ian. They meet on multiple occasions as she becomes enamored with Ian and he becomes smitten with her as they begin to fall in love.
The Viscount wants the arranges marriage to move along and as result, Lady Margaret and her family move back to London where she is forces into a betrothal contract. When Meg disappears, the Duke also returns to London.
With their return to society, Margaret and the Duke are surprised when they meet at a ball. The story continues and U won’t spoil it for you here. The reader must know what happens, and cannot out the book down until it is finished. As with G. L. Snodgrass’s other works, the characters are very believable and with a superior plot the book is exceptional. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

This is a sweet, romantic and entertaining story. Ian, the Duke of Suffolk, disguises himself as a commoner and journeys to a town where nobody knows him so that he can paint in peace. Lady Margaret is tired of being locked behind closed doors and when she finds out that her father made plans to marry her to his creepy friend, she's had enough, so she wears her maid's dress and escapes the house. When Meg comes across Ian while he's painting a mill, she's fascinated by the painting and him. Ian is also fascinated by her innocence and beauty, so he talks her into posing for him, and coming back the next day. Only she shows up at night and seduces him. Meg is whisked off to London the next day with no way to let Ian know. He gets mad, lets her go, because bringing a commoner to his world wouldn't be fair to her. Then they meet in London and discover that they both lied about who they were. And Ian still can't do anything, because she's already betrothed. There are places in the story where things are just repeated, which gets a little boring, but other than that, it's a very good story.

I enjoyed this historical romance with all of the characters. The two main characters were Lady Margaret Duval and Ian the duke of Suffolk.
Lady Margaret Duval want to take a walk were she won't be recognized by the ton. So she ask her maid for one of her dress so that she could disguise herself as a commoner. While on there walk they past a man that is painting a picture of the scenery. The man is quite handsome and also nice.
Ian the duke of Suffolk has grown tired of being in London and having all the responsibility of the dukedom. He needs a break from it all so he decides to visit a little village and paint pictures of the scenery. While painting two young woman come by and see him painting. But he not dressed like a duke instead he dressed as a painter.
This was a fun story to read. It has quite a few funny parts throughout the story that were fun to giggles and laugh to. The story had adventure and action throughout.

This is a wonderful story of two people simply searching for love. Both Lady Margaret and the Duke of Suffolk are tired of their lives as part of the nobility. They want to get away from it all and simply blend in with everyone and just experience life. Margaret disguises herself as a lady's maid and calls herself Meg, and the Duke becomes a painter, Ian. When both meet, they only know each other as Meg and Ian. Both have their secrets and what happens when these secrets are revealed? A very well-written story, indeed. The storyline captured my interest from the start and I was completely engaged until the end. Such a captivating story, I had a wonderful time reading it. I loved this book and look forward to reading more by this author!

The story of Ian and Meg was wonderful. I really enjoyed the book. Meg a Lady, who just wanted to escape her responsibilities for one day donned her ladies maid dress and went out to experience freedom. Ian, the Duke of Suffolk, tires of his London responsibilities and decides to get away for a few weeks and indulge in his passion of painting. He dresses in commoner clothes to fit in with the town folks because he doesn’t want the attention that comes with a title. Ian and Meg meet and the sparks fly. Lots of adventure, shared feelings and love. The author did a great job with the story and I would recommend it as an enjoyable read.

They both have secrets.
Are you ready for a bit of steam with your historical romance well this is the tale to pick-up? Margaret’s father somehow thinks marrying his daughter to his best friend a good idea. Margaret does not think so and what does she do but takes off to places unknown. Becoming a ladies maid and taking the name Meg Miller she encounters Ian Temple. Ian has a few secrets too. I liked the story it flowed well had some very interesting characters and so action to boot. This one put a smile on my face very good tale. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Another fun steamy romance for the adult reader. As with this author's other books these are geared towards the adult reader mostly due to the amount of detailed bedroom scene information given and arousal talk. The story on this one is basically of two nobles who step out on a town under the disguise of an artist and a maid and then find themselves in a forbidden romance due to their families. It was quite fun but I did struggle with the narrator. It was better when played at 1.25 speed.

Another fun steamy romance for the adult reader. As with this author's other books these are geared towards the adult reader mostly due to the amount of detailed bedroom scene information given and arousal talk. Double Dilemma
False identities always reveal true love in Regency land. Ian and Margaret met while each were the demands society dictated to them. At least Ian didn’t have an overbearing father and a lecherous fiancé. What I didn’t like was when Mr Templeton considered making Margaret alias Meg his mistress. I always find that a little irritating but that was ordinary in that time period. I found it to be a fun easy read.

Harry sure got the raw deal. He didn't want to be a duke, he didn't want to return to England, and he didn't want to marry someone in a society he despised. Yet the responsible side of him won't let him follow his heart's desire. As if that was not bad enough, Harry can't follow his heart to the girl who actually attracted him. Add in danger all around, and Harry is in a precocious situation.

I loved this book! You had the the Duke and Meg and the partially evil family and the entirely evil Viscount Evens. I was happy that the ending did not come about too quickly and that there was an event that happened that gave you pause, and for just a moment...... I thought the characters were well written and believable. I would recommend this book and will be reading more from G.L. Snodgrass.

I loved this book about two people who fall in love without knowing the truth behind the other's mask. The characters are well depicted and likable. The storyline is well written and engaging. What will happen when they meet where the dictates of society rule?

The third book in The Duke's Club series a well written story that had me smiling as I read. Lady Margaret Duval and Ian Temple The Duke of Suffolk had so many secrets between them. I enjoyed this unconventional regency romance. Our mains in disguise and their adventures and the suspense of what is to occur. A new to me author and an enjoyable read. This is a steamy romance.

Recently discover the author G.L. Snodgrass and so far I just love the way the plots are explored and the writing form...

Sweet story, but unreal how fathers could "sell" their daughters in marriage to fix THEIR mismanagement of the estate.
Margaret wanted some freedom, as did Ian. They meet and fall in love, but then are separated.
