Return to your favourite little wedding shop by the sea for love, laughter and a romance to sweep you off your feet! It’s the most romantic day of the year but the girls aren’t just gearing up for Valentine’s Day and a busy wedding season ahead, it’s also the 10 year anniversary of their beloved shop!
Jess is planning the party of the decade and with the champagne and cocktails flowing, sparks are going to fly…and not just from the fireworks display!
I know if Ben were the last guy in the world on a desert island, I’d actually have to make a boat and leave. And that’s saying a lot from me, who came bottom of the class in woodwork.
‘…we’re desperate for your input with the Faceplant side.’ Poppy stifles a smile. ‘That’s Jess’s affectionate name for Facebook.’
Once your eyes are open to the possibilities of super-hot, lukewarm doesn’t get a look in.
Nic’s young-at-heart Great Auntie Di was very grateful for the sewing kit in the emergency basket I had tucked away in the downstairs cloakroom. A few stitches and some safety pin reinforcement was all it took to make her look like an on-trend seventy-nine-year-old again, rather than a teenager on the pull.
It could have been worse, at least they weren’t playing naked Twister.
My Review:
Jane Linfoot has become one of my favorite people, she is certain to be my favorite person of the month, as I adored this book from beginning to end. The storylines were entertaining as well as insightfully observant and cleverly amusing while her character development was simply stellar. I reveled in their banter and thoughtfulness of each other. I admired Milla’s evolution and smirked at her propensity for creating a bit of chaos as she appears to be more than a bit of a Calamity Jane and destined to be plagued with funny little disasters, despite her best efforts and good intentions. These were endearing and lovable people whom I would enjoy spending time with and knowing well. I look forward to delving into this series again and again for more antics and bridal adventures to keep Poppy’s busy eyebrow wagging.
This is such a great series, you will have fun reading all of them. This summer romance is perfect to bring to the beach along with your fruity drink. Full of , "did she really do that?" moments it'll have you laughing out loud so get ready for other beach goers to wonder what's up with you. Milla knows her boyfriend isn't worth it but when she gets very unexpected news it's still devastating to her. So delightful to visit Cornwall again and the little wedding shop. The wedding shop is such a magical place and Milla throws herself into improving it along with her friend Poppy. After one disaster, romance is really the last thing on her mind but can she avoid it especially with Poppy's "help"? Such a heartwarming read I recommend it and all the lovely books in the series.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book. Thank you. All opinions expressed are my own.
Is there anything worse than working with a best friend who’s betrayed you? Well, yes. Definitely. But it certainly doesn’t feel that way at the time, which is why Milla, Jane Linfoot’s worn but charming heroine in Love at the Little Wedding Shop by the Sea, whisks herself back where she grew up in Cornwall. Is she running away? Maybe, but it’s a lot more complicated than that.
Which is really Linfoot’s forte: complication. She introduces Milla at her absolute lowest point. She’s hurt, betrayed by individuals she assumed she could most rely on. In the beginning, she’s frazzled, something justified by the knotty situation. These early sections mirror her frenetic energy, and there’s a question as to whether she can ever sort herself. Yet Linfoot knows exactly when to weave in enough humor that some some of Milla’s earliest encounters take on slapstick qualities, ultimately lightening what’s really a dark moment. It’s both an effective introduction to the world and sets up for the later, more tender moments to have a strong impact.
And there’s plenty of emotion. It is a romance, after all, and soon a support system—including a downright sweet group of pals—has her bouncing around in an attempt to find herself. These scenes in particular, as Milla becomes more embroiled in a new business opportunity, are a joy. The fact that it’s centered around a wedding shop while Milla is treating her own recent heartache? Well, Linfoot knows how to craft a plot and, even though long stretches feel like pure fun, it all ultimately serves to make Milla a better person.
Her biggest potential change? Well, after a misunderstanding and a bit of forced flirting, she finds herself in the constant presence of Nic, who’s totally charming and seemingly totally unavailable. Here’s where Linfoot gets to really show off, dragging the two of them into increasingly closer scenarios that force them to confront themselves and each other. It’s tense, it’s sweet, and it’s impossible not to want to see these two together by the final page.
Adorable. Heartfelt. Rich. At this point, pick an adjective. Love at the Little Wedding Shop by the Sea is about as much fun as you can have in 300 pages.
Note: I received a free ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.
Even though I have read two of her other works (can't resist those cute covers), this is my first step into the 'Little Wedding Shop by the Sea' series. Surely, it lives up to its name. Though each book can be read as a standalone, we do get to meet a lot of characters from the previous books and the tightly knit group is enough of a temptation to pick the other books in the series. Well, I will have to follow the reverse order now. Milla is back in St. Aidan for a working holiday. That's the excuse, but the real reason is that she wants to be away from her ex-fiance and business partner who are now having a baby together. What is a better way to a speedy recovery other than working with her best friends? What she didn't foresee is that her first client will be the handsome stranger she kissed on Valentine's day. But Nic is here for arranging his marriage and so totally off-limits. Can Milla remain professional throughout the ordeal? Talk about a messy situation. I was worried in the beginning as snatching someone's fiance is not really a story I want to read. Well, I can't give you any spoilers, but rest assured, all will be well in due time. We could pretty much guess the way it's going but that didn't spoil anything for me. Even if you are not really into weddings, this will really pull you in. The wedding jitters, walking the aisle and the first dance . . . it is hard to keep back the happy tears once you come to know the work in the background. All in all, another delightful read from Jane Linfoot where Cornwall works its magic . . . again.
I was fortunate to receive a copy of this ARC from NetGalley
I have read the other books in this series but sadly for me this was the weakest. I didn't find Milla a particularly compelling character and found the storyline quite predicable.
My favourite quote: "She won't put up with lateness, especially from a baby."
I hope I will enjoy the next in the series much better!
If you love anything to do with fictional weddings then you will adore this book.
And even if weddings leave you cold, then the characters in this story will warm your heart and possibly turn a cynic into a believer.
It was wonderful not only to be back in St. Aiden but also back at The Little Wedding Shop by the Sea, I think pretty much all of Jane Linfoot's St Aiden's based heroines make an appearance at some point in this story.
But rest assured that this can easily be read as a standalone, as Milla, this book's main character is brand new to the series too.
For a long term fan of the series this felt like coming home, I love those Wedding Shop girls and their friendships and spirit of teamwork.
It was fabulous to see Poppy's wonderful cupcakes, Sera having a small but pivotal role in helping the main bride feel special, Jess being scarily amazing as always.
Then there is Milla who amongst other things is offering a high end bespoke planning service and her big customer is someone who knows nothing about weddings but is putting together one as the bride lacks the time.
I had tears in my eyes at one rather special moment of the book - if you read the book, when you get to that point you will know what I mean - it was just so beautiful and special.
I loved how Millla and Nic interacted at all times.
This was just one highly enjoyable way to spend a few hours, amongst my friends in St. Aiden, and celebrating some lovely weddings.
Thank you to One More Chapter and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
I have loved this series so much and I certainly wasn’t let down by this book at all. Lovely to go back to Cornwall and hear more of the wedding shop. It’s such a delightful read with heartbreak friendship and love and is such a warm read. Sadly it’s the most romantic time of the year with it being Valentine’s Day and poor Milla has had the news she didn’t want to hear her ex and an ex friend have just had a baby together so she decides to get away she go to Cornwall I’m a working holiday with her friend poppy. They have both been there for each other and both work in the wedding business so feels she’s safe going there. The last thing she needs is another boyfriend but can she prevent this from happening or not. Can she improve the little wedding shop and make a good go of it as she throws herself into working. It’s a perfect book to curl up and read.
I haven't read any of the other books in this series, but I do not feel that I enjoyed it any less so please don't let the fact its part of a series put you off. This story evolves around Milla, whose best friend and business partner has got together with Milla's fiancé, who then gets pregnant. Round about the time the baby is due, Milla decides to escape to Cornwall to avoid the heartache that she knows is to come but her life changes completely when she has the job of planning a wedding for Nic.
I adored this book, and loved Milla's character - and actually found myself really emotional for her for the last few chapters of the book. Highly recommended - perfect book to curl up with on the sofa.
Set in st aidan Cornwall Milla Fenton received the news shes been dreading on valentines day. Her ex fiancé and her ex friend and work partner have had their baby. getting away from this she takes a working holiday with her friend Poppy. Both are in the wedding business and have always been there for each other. the last thing she needs is another boyfriend. What a lovely read I loved all the characters in this book Such a cosy book to curl up with Loved
What a delightful book!!!! Usually I am not a big fan of chicklit with wedding stories but this one was very good! I really had a nice time reading it, it's funny, you don't really know what's coming, you are trying to figure out what is going on (and I liked that), there is a bit of romance (of course!), and the characters are fun and nice. I just found this book a little bit too long. It could have been a bit shorter but other than that I loved it! I had a really nice time, and i hope to read another book from Jane Linfoot in the near future! 4 stars out of 5 for me!
Romance was the last thing on her mind, but what was she to do when her best friend pushed her toward one? After being betrayed, Milla decided to go to Cornwall to improve the Wedding Shop along with her friend, Poppy. Then love happened.
Jane Linfoot wrote a beautiful affirming book that warmed the cockles of my heart with the words. Emotions and friendship seeped in, thawing my cold heart. All the characters added beauty to the prose. Heartbreak to healing to romance captured me.
Overall, a wonderful light read, just perfect for Christmas.
'Little Wedding Shop by the Sea' is the fifth instalment in a fun, lighthearted chick lit series. Each book can be read as a standalone. If you are into seaside villages in Cornwall and love everything to do with weddings, then this is most certainly the book for you.
This is classic chick lit at its best - formulaic yes, but a sure fire winner for those who sign up for it. Milla’s story is full of tears and laughter and much eye candy. So whilst on the one hand you will get the brewing chemistry, I do believe that Jane has provided richer themes that provide some depth. This is a book that encourages not only new beginnings but also the evolution and growth in confidence with the establishment of self, before launching into a relationship.
‘Everyone here, including you, helped me learn to love myself. Maybe it’s time for you to let the guilt go. Learn to forgive yourself.’
Of course, there is always the attraction of the beautiful Cornish countryside with the St Aidan harbour and many of the locales on offer for wedding receptions. Which leads me to the next feature - weddings! If you love a good wedding, or two, then this is most definitely the book for you. You name it and it is here ... the whole assembly of wedding planning from cakes to photography, from dresses to venues - this book covers it all.
This is a series of books that is formed on a solid friendship base and, on this occasion, rallying together after Milla’s relationship woes. So if you love a good romcom by the seaside, look no further. You will laugh and lose yourself in the wedding madness that is the 'Little Wedding Shop by the Sea'.
‘Of all the weddings in the world, he has to turn up at this one.’

I discovered Jane Linfoot two years ago thanks to a quick stop at our local library where I found one of the wonderful Little Wedding Shop by the Sea series. Enthralled by it, I soon caught up on the whole series plus every other book I could. The Little Wedding Shop has always firmly remained in my heart. Imagine my absolute delight to discover we were going back to St Aidan, to the gorgeous Cornwall village I’d become so fond of. Although part of a series, you could read this as a standalone, you’d not be confused or be wondering about anything at all. It may just spur you on to want to read the others though. This time we meet Milla who is using this time in Cornwall as an escape; her ex and her business partner are now together and to make it worse are having a baby! Wronged by those she was closest too she has come away to ‘hide’ from what is happening, but instead of hiding she fully gets involved in things in The Little Wedding Shop by the Sea.’ Of course, if you have read any books from the series you know that this is very typical, and we have seen how that shop has a way of getting under everyone’s skin. I loved Milla. She is quite the character and I felt really sorry for her, she is also quite clumsy and that provided some funny moments. Her interactions with Nic are amusing, if not frustrating. Nic comes along at the perfect time, whether it is for a cheeky kiss or to give Milla the boost she needs – professionally and personally. He is quite the confident and charming character I think. He sounds delicious! As I read through, I was captivated by our characters, new and old favourites alike, their story and the atmosphere created by the location. Jane’s writing really captures this beautifully. I enjoyed seeing how Millas character developed and evolved. Slower paced than some other romantic fiction books, I like the way we get to know each character and connect with them. It’s a heart warming, funny and romantic story. Jane Linfoot is an author who is always on my must read list. Thank you to Netgalley, Jane Linfoot and One More Chapter/Harper Collins UK for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Lovely book. This was such a lovely summer holiday book. I read it in the beach and it was perfect. I live the St Aidans family, Jess and her wedding shop family are so supportive and warm.
Milla is seriously licking her wounds when she comes home to the fold with her kooky retro pink camper van. She has been let down and hurt badly by dastardly for Phoebe and Ben.
Nic is grieving for the life he thinks he has stopped his sister from having due to an accident.
They meet and grow to support and befriend each other gently.
Such an excellent book in the series. 5* book.
This arc copy was provided in exchange for an honest review by me for netgalley.
I have not read any others in the series so was a little lost to start with but soon got into the story
Milla has escaped to Cornwall as her ex and her business partner who are now shacked up together and having a baby. . Working as a wedding planner while Jess is planning one hell of a party.
I really enjoyed this fun read and settings of St Aiden sound just wonderful I want to go.
A feel good story and would definitely read more from Jane.
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for this ARC.
I’ve been a fan of this series of books since the very first one, so I was thrilled to be taking a trip back to St. Aidan to catch up with the girls from Brides By The Sea, and to find out more about new girl, Milla.
I have to say, the opening of this book is a little bit of a whirlwind, with a lot of action and information thrown at the reader from the very beginning, which might seem a little confusing to readers who are new to St. Aidan and the Little Wedding Shop set up. I was on a slightly firmer footing, having read the previous books, but even to me it seemed a little frenetic. However, this feeling didn’t last beyond the first chapter and then the narrative settled down into an easier, clearer rhythm, making the book accessible to readers who haven’t read the previous books. Although this is a series, each one works perfectly as a standalone, and not knowing the back stories of some of the characters does not detract from the current plot, although I guarantee you will want to go back and find out more about the other girls from the previous books once you have read this one.
Out main protagonist here, Milla, is a bit of a disaster area to say the least. Clumsy and disorganised, with a sad back story, she is a character whose future doesn’t look too promising when we first meet her. However, she is full of verve and heart and enthusiasm which makes her very endearing, and the series of mishaps she encounters through the first half of the book make us root for her to turn things around even more. The fact that the worst of her mishaps happen in front of a very hot man who is causing flutters in interesting areas of her anatomy just makes things worse and, of course, more fun for the reader!
This is a story about new beginnings, confidence and pulling yourself up by the bootstraps. I really wanted Milla to succeed and believe in herself (and to get one over on one character who was loathsome to my mind from the beginning!). I also wanted her to get her man, although there were times at the beginning when I did wonder why she would want him after some of his behaviour (although his pecs and six-pack probably had a lot to do with it!) Milla’s story is full of laughter – Jane’s writing is absolutely hilarious – but there are also moments of real pathos and I defy anyone not to be moved by parts of this book amidst the hilarity.
Throw in the beautiful Cornish setting of St. Aidan with its gorgeous harbour, and all the fun, imagination and celebration of the wedding business, and this is a great escapist read. It is also a fabulous book about friendship, good and bad, as Milla’s friends rally around to help her establish a new life after a terrible betrayal. If you are a fan of chicklit and romcoms, and you are looking for a book to transport you to the seaside, give you some giggles and some feels, this is the perfect book for you, and I know you are going to want to look at Jane Linfoot’s back catalogue once you have read this. Loved, loved, loved it.
I absolutely love Jane’s work and I have been a fan of hers for a while. I love the series featuring ‘The Little Wedding Shop’. It sounds like a divine place to live, work and eat. I happen to love stories that are set in Cornwall. Anyway back to the point. When I read that Jane was due to release another book in the series I just knew that I had to read the book as soon as I could. Having just finished reading ‘Love At The Little Wedding Shop By The Sea’, all I can say is ‘wow’. I thoroughly enjoyed reading every single second of this delightful story but more about that in a bit. I loved the character of Milla and warmed to her from the very start. When the story begins, we learn that Milla has gone back to her roots and she has returned to where she grew up. I got the impression that she is going back to familiar surroundings to allow herself time to heal from betrayal by a friend and Milla’s ex-boyfriend. I won’t go into the whats and wherefores because I would hate to spoil the book for anybody else. Milla isn’t home for long before she meets a hunky sounding chap and there’s definitely lip action, which could potentially turn into something else. Milla claims that she isn’t looking for a relationship but does she protest a bit much? Milla is a lovely lass, who is kind, funny, compassionate, generous and a good laugh. Will Milla heal? Is Milla about to find her happy ever after ending? Well for the answers to that question and more you are just going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out as I am not going to tell you. It took me next to no time to get into this story. In fact by the time I got to the end of the first page, I knew that I was going to be in for a cracking read and a half. I loved being back in Cornwall and reuniting with such familiar character. In fact, I felt like I was going home never mind Milla going home. This book was hypnotic in the sense that I felt I couldn’t put the book down. I felt compelled, in the nicest possible way, to keep reading. This book was a bit like the tonic I needed. I had been feeling a little low and rather tired and in need of a pick me up. This book was all that and more. I started chuckling away to myself from fairly early on as I read more about Milla’s shenanigans. This book certainly did more to cheer me up more than any tablets could have done. ‘Love At The Little Wedding Shop By The Sea’ truly was a delight to read from start to finish. Jane grabbed my attention from the start and she drew me into the story. I love the way in which Jane makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story themselves. That’s how I felt at any rate. Jane describes Cornwall so vividly and so realistically that I really did feel as though I was there myself. In fact I was all for packing my case and going on holiday to Cornwall and finding the Little Wedding Shop. Yes I know it isn’t real but I find that if I enjoy a book to the extent that I enjoyed this one, I tend to ‘live’ the story as if it were real. I loved the storylines, the characters, the setting and the little wedding shop. I can confidently say that there was not one thing about this book I didn’t like. In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Love At The Little Wedding Shop By The Sea’ and I would definitely recommend this book to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Jane’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.
I’m going to start by saying that I really loved this book – because I do have to admit that, at first, I really thought I wasn’t going to like it at all. I do have a particularly jaded view of the wedding industry – I’d rather agreed to set that to one side, given the book’s title – but the first 50 pages or so of the book just made me feel so dreadfully old.
First there was Milla’s arrival in St Aidan, in her bright pink camper van with the flashing lights – a hint of a sad back story, a bit of an unexpected encounter on the quayside, and then we’re plunged into the midst of the most frenetic party imaginable. I’ve rarely felt so strongly that this really wasn’t going to be the book for me – the humour seemed to be piled on particularly thickly, and it was all far too slapstick for my tastes. And it really did amaze me that anyone could think that Milla was a suitable candidate to be given responsibility for the more special wedding clients – goodness, she can barely stand upright in her stilettos, she’d be a total disaster.
But then, slowly but surely, a little magic started to happen. All the characters became a bit more rounded as I got to know them better – and I found myself starting to rather like Milla as her rather sad back story was fleshed out. I was surprised to discover that I found the whole wedding side of things quite fascinating – the search for the perfect venue, the themes, the wedding fairs and all the effort that goes into them, the catering side (all those wonderful cupcakes!), the commitment and really hard work of the wedding organiser.
Then there’s that rather special chemistry between Milla and her main client – and it grew very convincingly, despite the obvious obstacles in the way, and I began to really enjoy it. And then, to my surprise, I found myself laughing out loud – I think it was at a particular point in a muddy field, another of Milla’s many disasters.
And the story continued to build, and Milla began to find her feet and grow in confidence – and I found myself cheering her on, really wanting her to make a success of things, hoping she’d get a bit of a happy ending. And through all its twists and turns, the whole book became considerably more substantial – but I’d really never expected to find myself having quite a few emotional moments. And there aren’t many times when I find myself with a smile on my face while reading through real tears – towards the end, I was really sobbing.
This was such very clever writing – and a quite wonderful story of the most unlikely heroine turning her life around, making a success of things in a way I never expected, showing real bravery and determination, and doing everything she can to get herself that happy future she so thoroughly deserves. And the large supporting cast is also excellent – a group of really supportive friends who become Milla’s family, watching her back and picking her up when she stumbles, celebrating every little success she achieves. The backdrop is superb too – St Aidan itself, the harbour and the beach, and all those fantastic and well described wedding venues.
Things might not have started too well – but that was entirely about a bit of a mismatch between a book and its reader, nothing to do with the book itself. It really is quite a wonderful story about fresh starts and new beginnings, so different and exceptionally well told, so uplifting and joyous, good fun but with a rather perfect emotional touch – and I’m very happy to say that this was a book I absolutely loved.
There are few things that make me happier than a new (or a re-read) of a book from Jane Linfoot. I believe that I’ve read EVERYTHING she writes, and have yet to be disappointed – the humor, the characters, the emotion and the smiles when the book ends last for days. In this book we’re meeting Milla, a local girl who returned to her home county after her business partner and boyfriend of five years announced she was pregnant. Trying to do ‘the right thing’ she’d stayed to work on their Bridal Fair business but wasn’t sticking for the birth. Welcomed with open arms by Poppy and Immie, her arrival near Valentine’s Day and the St. Aiden’s usual ‘any excuse for a party’ isn’t what her emotions need. But a ‘random snog’ with a stranger, and the offer from Jess to stage wedding fairs and start a bespoke “all in” planning service for brides has her opportunities opening even as her confidence is at an all-time low.
Enter Nic with a wedding to plan: it doesn’t help that he’s gorgeous and funny, but he’s also picky and Milla can’t quite feel confident or comfortable around him – particularly when he doesn’t seem to be ‘focused’ on the planning of a wedding in a few short months. Yet, as things go horribly and embarrassingly wrong for Milla – with landing her van in the mud, to endless venue visits that are ‘all wrong’, to major (and minor) wardrobe malfunctions – Nic is gently reinforcing his ‘you can do this’ mantra with Milla, and sharing little bits of himself, as the two banter and bandy ideas, suggestions and ‘what’s next’ to tick off the list of tasks.
Milla - what can you say about someone who truly is spectacular and creative at what they do – who can’t seem to see it.? Always measuring herself against her ‘business partner’ who did little but presented a great show. And her honest desire to “wow” the bride – even before she understood everything in a way that only she could after her mother’s long illness, she’s adorable. Needs a bit of confidence, but as things take off, and people are wowed – including Jess and the girls – it's hard to not cheer her on. And Nic, with his guilt and ignoring what’s right in front of him – but always willing to shore up Milla’s confidence, push away unsuitable males (into the water even – although that was a ‘trip’ not a push) and his determination to bolt when things seem to be ‘getting serious’ is truly everything you’d want in a man – once his eyes are open. This is a lovely, funny and heartfelt story that manages tough issues, friendship, growing attraction and finding a new footing and direction for your life. And love the series – grab it from the first if you’ve never read it before – but you can start anywhere. It’s the perfect antidote to the stress and cabin fever that we’re all suffering from. A perfect installment in my favorite series.
I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
I have not read any of the previous books in the “The Little Wedding Shop by the Sea” series, but this book was just adorable. It made me want to check out the previous books about the other characters like Poppy and Sera.
It is never easy finding out when people who negatively impacted you are doing better in life. Milla finds out some terrible news during Valentine’s day and sets gears to go back to Cornwall. Little does she know that she is in for a rollercoaster ride of emotions there.
One of the main reasons I adored this book was how the author depicted the setting. Everyone in Cornwall is so close-knit and supports one another that it makes you feel like you want to live in an idyllic community. I would love to read the previous books in the series to revisit Cornwall and relive that feeling.
Moreover, the author writes the romance very eloquently. Milla and Nic share charming chemistry that puts a smile on your face. The author progresses their relationship nicely and adds a touch of humor. The author moves their feelings beautifully from the small moments like when she sings Uptown Girl in the car or big moments like her conflicting feelings for him when she prepares a wedding.
Speaking of weddings, I also enjoyed the details the author put into the wedding planning. It was interesting to see how Milla dealt with the various situations that arose as she planned the wedding. I also liked her conversations with Pixie about the same.
Overall, “Love at the Little Wedding Shop by the Sea” is a lovely book that I read as a standalone but inspired me to pick up the first book to see how it all started.
This may be the fifth book in The Little Wedding Shop by the Sea series, but it can definitely be read as a standalone. I did not read the previous books in this series, but you can bet I will now. I really enjoyed this light, humorous, romantic story where two people get to have a new beginning. Milla heads home to the village of St. Aidan for a few weeks. Her BFF is about to give birth after stealing Milla's fiance. She has spent the last nine months working with her in their business, Brides Go West, but can not stick around and see the baby. Once she arrives in St. Aidan, her friends take her under their wings, find her a place to stay and a job at Weddings by the Sea while she is there. On her first night, she meets Nic, aka Captain Kirk, and is immediately attracted to him. When she ends up working with him to plan a wedding, her feelings just grow stronger. Can Milla find her happily ever after in St. Aidan?
I loved all the characters in this book, except for Milla's BFF and her ex-fiance, but they only put in one appearance in the story. Milla has had a tough life and has pretty low self-esteem. She doesn't see what others see, she thinks Phoebe runs the business and allows her to boss her around and be someone she isn't. When she goes home, her friends work hard building her up and giving her confidence. Nic is a hottie, but a confirmed bachelor. As the story goes on we learn more about him and why he feels that way, but you will have to read the book to find out why. He is also kind, generous, confident, and caring. I enjoyed how the plot unfolded in this story and I especially loved the banter between Nic and Milla. The characters were well developed and I know as I go back and read the previous books in this series, I will get to know all their stories and love them even more. If you are looking for a feel-good romance with laughter and friendship as well as one with a message, then this book is for you. I guarantee you will enjoy this story. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book upon request. The rating and opinions shared are my own.
“Love at the Little Wedding Shop by the Sea” by Jane Linfoot is the fifth book in the series, and I usually don’t jump into a series out of order, the synopsis sounded like such a cute book, and I have read another book by Jane Linfoot that I enjoyed, that I had to take a chance.
Do you love cozy villages? Do you love weddings? How about a wedding shop in a cute village and a decade anniversary? That’s the setting we have in this book. I do love weddings and I’m from a small town, so of course I felt at home with this book.
As we met Milla, I can’t help but loved her. Although, personally, I couldn’t fully understand her pain and the emotional state she was in at the beginning, I definitely felt connected to her and I wanted her happiness. I loved getting to know her background story and see her growth through the pages, seeing how she dealt with each moment and problem.
Because of Milla’s interactions with other characters and my introduction this this place and the shop, right until the very end – and even now – I’m quite curious to know the other characters in other books. I felt like I missed a couple of pieces about them, although that didn’t made me confuse, it mostly made me want to explore St Aidan more.
The atmosphere of the story, the plot, the characters, and the emotional waves that transported me to Jane Linfoot’s world, made reading the book exciting, lovely and warming. Especially since there is a party going on and who can resist a good and funny party.
Overall, I loved the book. I’m a romantic, I love to read about romance and see people get together and be happy. I love the journey to happiness, with all the crazy events, hardships and excitement, along the way. And this book made that feel real for me. Made the characters touch my heart.

This is such a fun series and I’m so happy that it’s still going strong after 5 books! I’ve read them all so far and this book follows the same hilarious (but often deeply sad) antics of a group of friends in St Aiden who are all involved in the wedding business somehow. If you’re after romance then this is definitely the series for you and I’ve enjoyed watching the women achieve their own “happy ever after” so was keen to see if new girl Milla would be able to put her very sad past behind her and find true love…
To begin with I wasn’t actually sure if I took to Milla as she arrived in St Aiden with her bright pink van! There was certainly a rather frantic start to Love at the Little Wedding Shop by the Sea culminating in a St Valentines Day event. Milla has already had an encounter with an attractive man at the Quay where he kept his boat but when he also appears at the event, he becomes much more important to Milla as she becomes the client that she really needs to impress! But as they spend time together planning a perfect wedding, it become obvious that there is a spark between them that there possibly shouldn’t be between a wedding organiser and her client!
I found myself hoping for so much more for Milla that the deal she appeared to be getting here as she had suffered so much heartache in the past. Her backstory went a long way in explaining her response to a possible new and important relationship in her life but not the never ending disasters that seemed to follow her! I loved how her story developed and there were a few times I got quite weepy especially when there was a rather surprising moment during a wedding!
Love at The Little Wedding Shop by the Sea was a lovely read and a welcome return to a group of friends who really are there for each other through some very challenging times. Poppy has always been a favourite of mine (possibly due to my love of cake!!) and it was great to have her involved throughout this journey for Milla. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of my trip to St Aidens and only wish I could visit for real!
The wedding planners of The Little Wedding Shop by the Sea approach their busy wedding season with lively enthusiasm, especially as they are celebrating their tenth anniversary. The celebrations party is a huge success and everyone seems to be having a good time but as with as with life, not everything is going to run smoothly.
Milla is newly arrived back in St Aidan, a place she grew up in, but her return is marred by some pretty dastardly goings on between her best friend and business partner, Phoebe, and her now ex-fiancé, Ben. Whilst Milla’s back story is somewhat sad, she does have bag loads of personality and a penchant for getting into difficulty, however, her self esteem has taken something of a battering and through the course of this lovely ‘feel good’ story we see Milla grow in confidence. Her role as wedding planner gets her into all sorts of odd situations but it is her connection with the handsome and charismatic Nic where the story really comes alive.
The whole complex world of wedding planning is done really well, from the cakes, to the dress, the wedding fairs and venues, it’s all a mysterious minefield which, to be fair, causes Milla a whole heap of trouble, but it's all done with great good humour and the author has a lovely way of bringing everything together in a lively way.
I haven't read any of the previous books four books in this series and whilst it would probably have been helpful to know a little more about some of the characters, overall I read this quite comfortably as a standalone. I loved the fun aspect of the story, along with a few sad bits, the bright and cheery book cover, and the rather sweet picture of the dog, the importance of which you'll have to find out by reading Love at the Little Wedding Shop for yourself.
Acum Milla, de ziua îndrăgostiților isi lasa in urma vechea viata si se multa in oraselul natal. 🥰 Happy-end 🥰😍 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a fun romance which starts with upset, continues with celebrations and leads on to romance!
Milla has escaped from her usual role at her Bristol business as her business partner and supposed friend is about to give birth to the child she conceived with Ben, who had been Milla’s fiancé for five years. At the Little Wedding Shop by the Sea, love is definitely high on the agenda. In this heartwarming story, a bride doesn’t want to know anything about her own wedding, leaving Nic to plan it all for her. Nic initially doesn’t apparently want to work with Milla but the wedding for Pixie needs sorting so get ready for lots of laughter, fun and love in this delightful read! As getting Nic to actually make any decisions proves to be very difficult and the sparks are definitely flying between him and Milla. Can they get the wedding of Pixie’s dreams sorted? Can they resist their attraction to each other?
It is a story packed with humour, there’s lots of feelings of guilt, betrayal and turmoil to be overcome but the ending is one to put a huge smile on your face as love really will find a way . . . even if it does take time! With special pyjamas, useful towels, a dear dog and so many dreams, this is a delightful story to escape into and I can’t wait to read more about the ladies involved in this special shop and other books by this talented author. It is a story to have you giggling at some of the incidents long after you read the book!
Many thanks for the copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.
Thank you NetGallery, One More Chapter, and author Jane Linfoot for a free E-book ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This book is the fifth book in the series. While I have not read the other books in the series, I feel I still could enjoy this book! The book is about a woman named Mila, who is trying to get her life back together after her fiance and best friend get married and are expecting a baby. As the time of the due date is fast approaching, Mila decides to escape to Cornwall and begins to work in the wedding shop. As she begins the task of planning weddings, a man named Nic walks in and asks Mila to plan a dream wedding! Can love been found in the planning of another's big day? This book was so cute and funny! Mila was a great character and enjoyed how strong she became despite to disasters that seemed to follow her where ever she went. The banter and chemistry between Nic and Mila was excellent. I so enjoyed the misunderstandings of who's wedding Mila was planning! Nic was a great make counterpart to Mila. He was sweet, strong, and thoughtful towards those he loves especially his family. Nic was the perfect man for Mila to push her to self examine and go after what she really wanted. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and the ending was satisfactory! I can't wait to go back and read the previous books within this series!
I love wedding related things and despite being married for 13 years I can still be found pouring over cakes, dresses and all things wedding related. I'm also a huge fan of romances set by the sea and in quaint villages so for me, this book ticked all my happy boxes. I haven’t made the trip to St Aiden previously, but it didn’t take long before I felt at home amongst the many colourful characters and village life. This definitely will not be my one and only visit. Mila is visiting St Aidan on a working holiday after a difficult time (the details of which are slowly released into the narrative). She is surrounded by friends and quite quickly accepted into the community and despite many amusing mishaps, she begins to prove her skills in the wedding industry. I loved the backstage view of wedding planning and really enjoyed learning about the ins and outs. Milla begins to re-discover her worth through throwing herself into supporting The Little Wedding Shop and my heart warmed with each step of her journey. The last of the St Aidan is a beautiful setting for a wedding/romance themed plot, and I was swept away by the beauty of it. The harbour, beach and village were all described vividly, and I am desperate to explore more. A humorous and heart-warming novel that took me on an emotional roller coaster. Adorable characters, beautiful setting and a page turning plot makes this a wonderful and highly recommended novel.
What a delightful, charming little book! It’s filled with all the things I love….romance, emotion, and friendship!
Poor Milla has had a terrible time of it lately. She has lost her fiance to her friend and business partner. To top it off, her so-called friend has just given birth to a baby with her ex. She definitely needs some time away, so she returns home to recharge. She has no clue how that one decision will change the direction of her life, both professionally and personally.
Not only is this a romance, but the theme of friendship and support is seen throughout. Milla’s tribe, including Nic have helped her heal and learn to love herself. Even though she feels like she hasn’t helped Nic’s tortured soul, she really has. Is that enough for them to find their HEA? I sure did enjoy watching them fall for each other even if they didn’t realize it at the time.
I have read a couple of other books in the series, but you don’t have to read the others to understand what is happening in this one. I love the way Linfoot writes. She puts you right in the story she is telling, and I felt like I was a part of the group. The setting is so beautiful and descriptive. I could see the charming town and even smell the salt in the air. It is a great little book to take you away from reality for a while!
