BARFF!!!

Barff! is a curated journal of outsider lit. We're serious as cancer. When we say outsider, we mean it. We're always on the lookout for those who have no talent, who aren't looking to be writers, who have no interest in a "career in letters." We're looking instead for people who have something to say and who say it because if they don't the force of it may disembowel them. Our writers are janitors, prisoners, dishwashers, waitresses, day laborers, illegal aliens, sex workers, homeless persons, roofers, housewives. They have one common bond. They are saying something we haven't heard said a thousand times before in a voice uniquely their own. They are speaking from the outside. We don't look for pretty words in well-constructed forms. We've had enough of that. We want it undigested, straight from the gut. We call our project BARFF!!! because we believe that the truest form of expression is vomiting. There is no arguing with vomit. There is no holding it back. It's what no one wants to see or hear. And, frankly, it's the only valid response not only to the society in which we live, but to the human condition itself. We want our authors to remain unassimilable. Distasteful even. They can't be digested. If you try to eat them, they’ll stick in your throat. They’ll choke you to death. Here are writers our capitalist culture simply can’t swallow. ENJOY YOUR BARFF!!!
