Wow... This book was such a ride. I had received the first in the series from the author @topeomotoshowrites for a review and I could not drop it. When she reached out about this one, I could not refuse. The first story hadn't left me. 📚 One of the issues many readers have is when one reads a really good book that is first in the series, there is always apprehension about if the second book will be just as good. Well, this is one of those cases I will say, this is just as good as the first book, Dance With Me. 📚 This book is a Christian Fiction and centers around quite a number of issues that many Christians seek answers to. The main focus in this book is about Shola and Tobi's marriage at the brink of collapse because of Tobi's sexual preferences which her husband is unaware of. He loves his wife but his wife is clearly not in love with him as a woman should love her husband. 📚 Also, the story continues with Zainab and Micah's story. In the first book, Micah struggles with grief after loosing his first wife and now we are at a point where he must move on and let go of his fears and insecurities and trust God. 📚 This book has something for every Christian. The author navigates theological concerns expertly. In fact, through each character, many questions posed by Christians are asked and answered. 📚 I loved the character development in this book. My heart went out more to Shola. Shola, a man just trying to do what's right and everything comes out wrong. I mean, we have walked down that road many times 😪 and it can be exhausting. 📚 This book has a bit of everything whether you need answers on faith, friendship, church life, family. Mostly, it is a story of redemption, which is pivotal to the Christian faith. 📚 One of the most crucial messages I got reading this is that though the Christian race is personal, people are pivotal to helping us make heaven in the end. Imagine if Tobi hadn't met Zainab or Shola hadn't met Micah. Relationships with the right people is key to our walk with God. So much to say but lemme stop here for now.
Tope Omotosho always take us on a journey with nuggets of truths and treasures to glean from.
Crumbled is an amazing journey where the beauty of second chances is seen, the renewal of minds is dealt with, deep forgiveness is made possible and the issue of homosexuality is discussed.
This is a book that also deals with Gods heart for revival in the church and how Religion is not the standard for Gods thought, heart and direction for the church. Truth is Fire is coming and revival is upon us but we will still be asleep when the bridegroom comes.
I recommend this book for it would spark a conversation in your heart and led you to a God of another chance.
I was given this book by the author and this is my honest opinion
What a great continuation from book 1, Dance With Me.
Tope had her characters deal with issues that are current and worldwide. Had them dealing with the why’s of our lives and facing them head on, I loved it!
I also loved the prayers and scriptures referenced throughout this book. If I had a gripe, it would be that the dictionary that was in the first book was not present in the second. Therefore, I had to pull the first book and do some googling of some of the words and there meanings.
The story continues with Pastor Micah courting Zainab. He is finally at a place where he ready to move on with his life, but his sister and mother, feels that Zainab is a step down from his deceased wife, Kiki. Pastor Micah stands beside what God says to him regardless of how others feel and is not afraid of whose feathers might get ruffled. I love me some Pastor Micah and Zainab. Zainab is my BFF!!!
I wanted to hear more about Maureen. I love how she was trying to put the blame of her sin on others, but realized that she had to take responsibility for her own actions.
Shola and Tobi had a storyline that had me bending my book back, lol!!! It was soooo good. After being told that his wife no longer loves him and wants a divorce, Shola had a choice to make. Will he give her what she wants or fight for the one that changed his heart. Tobi had me wanting to fight, but when she started dealing with nightmares/demonic forces, I wanted her to run to God. I found myself praying for people like her in my life and asking God to reveal His truth in them as well.
Okay, I said that Tope is not afraid to confront issues of today. I want to share with some of the issues just in case you are triggered by certain things:
Lesbianism, infidelity, divorce, and death of a spouse.
Crumbled by Tope Omotosho is a novel with settings in Nigeria that explores tough but honest situations.
Wow! What an interesting captivating book. I read this novel on Okadabooks app while listening to the narrator and reading the words along mentally on my phone screen.
This is a Christian novel that touches strong themes prevalent in our society today.
“Woman to Woman and man to man doesn’t reflect God’s image. It is against his design and blessing to mankind.” Theme of homosexuality.
This book is a page turner. What an attention grabbing book with lots of characters peculiar to the plot.
“What I’m saying is,I want to keep getting hot for God. He wants me to get the passion for Him going. Keep the fire burning. Spread the news that He’s coming and stand for Him in this Kingdom battle for lost souls”. Zainab’s words to Micah. Theme of love and hunger for God.
“Marriage for me is forever. Not when you get tired or fed up”.Shola’s words here confirms that the theme of marriage is largely expressed in this book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are mine.
Crumbled by Tope Omotsho is a Christian fiction novel about God's unending grace and forgiveness.
This book will grab your attention and make you keep coming back for more. I love how the author deals with sensitive issues that most people avoid. Through her struggles to understand herself, Tobi seeks to free herself from her husband to explore her sexuality and ends up in an uncomfortable situation until she seeks out God who brings her into the light about his will for her life.
I especially loved how she brought to light the failings of the church and how it has gone to sleep leaving important issues to discuss things that aren't relevant. "Jesus came to give us health, power and numerous blessings. As Christians, we shouldn’t live below such high standards. We should be living above the line. God’s will for you and I is success! Or how are we supposed to get the work of God done? It comes from our pockets." Overall, I really loved and enjoyed reading this book.
I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my opinion.
A beautiful mosaic of the lives of wonderful characters dealing with betrayal, raw pains and emotions, joy, love, romance and finding God's hand gently leading them into His perfect will for their lives. I love the author's grace in writing about topics like homosexuality, sexual purity before marriage.
Highly recommended to those dealing with hard issues as concerned what the Bible says about homosexuality and sexual purity before marriage and to those who love them. Recommended to anyone who loves a good, deep story.
I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion
The ending with Tobi and Shola threw me. I liked that they are working on their marriage, however Tobi told Shola she did not love him, nor was she in love with him. I understand her saying she is going to resist her desires for the same sex, but I would have thought that maybe she would have found a man that she could truly fall in love with. I got the impression that she loved Shola as a friend and had a mutual respect for him, but that was all. I do like that she is trying, but is it being forced? Is Shola her guy? Onto book three.

The characters goes thru some hard times and hard crisis. Zainab and Micah are two favorites. Leke and Maureen are strong supporting cast. But Shola, Lola, Tobi, and Belinda are something else. In Book 1, I didn’t care for Shola, but this changed in Book 2. One hard situation of this novel is human sexuality, and Christianity. The two are in conflict to each other, thus the characters are in conflict.
I’m a big fan of Tope Omotosho’s books and like her previous books “Crumbled” didn’t disappoint. I was able to engage in the story and the characters whilst also being encouraged in my own faith. I look forward to reading more.
Tope Omotosho did it again. 😭 I read Crumbled at a stretch. This sequel to Dance With Me was raw, bold, and deeply emotional; the kind of story that sits heavy on your heart but leaves a flicker of hope by the end. 🌤️
Crumbled follows Shola and Tobi, a couple tethering on the edge of divorce. Shola’s life is collapsing, piece by piece, and the pull of his past (women, alcohol, pain) lures him back to the edge of destruction. Meanwhile, Tobi, trapped in deception and confusion about her identity, aches for a warped definition of freedom… even if it means walking away from everything she knows. 💔 Their stories collide in a storm of sin, secrets, and surrender. But even in the ruins, God’s hand is not far. 🙏
✨ My thoughts: The writing was intense and immersive. The emotional depth? Whew 😮💨. I loved how the author tackled topics like addiction, sexuality, marriage, and redemption with so much honesty and compassion. While a few scenes felt heavy (understandably so, considering the weight of the subject), the message of grace and renewal shone through beautifully. Tope Omotosho doesn’t sugarcoat brokenness. She writes it as it is, reminding us that even when everything crumbles, God can rebuild. 🕊️ If you loved Dance With Me, you’ll definitely want to read this continuation. It made me feel, think, and whisper a prayer for restoration and revival. ❤️
I loved the intentionality behind every element in the cover design which the author explained in detail at the end of the book. Also, the reader study guide at the end is a list of questions related to the story's themes, a great resource for personal reflection and group discussions.
I'm not going to lie—I was beyond excited for this book. After reading "Dance with Me", the first book in the series, I couldn’t wait to continue Micah and Zainab's journey.
"Dance with Me" took me through a profound place of healing. Like Micah, I have experienced losing someone dear to a terminal illness, so his story resonated deeply with me. It was raw, real, and a reflection of emotions I knew all too well.
"Crumbled" spoke directly to my heart. It made me understand that my insecurities and fears are not hidden from God—He sees them, knows them, and, most importantly, walks with me through them. I am not alone. He is ever-present.
Zainab’s story was particularly inspiring. As I followed her journey, I felt challenged in my faith. Her conversations with God, her unwavering trust, and the way she allowed God guide her stirred a longing within me for a relationship like that. Reading her story made me yearn for a deeper walk with Him.
Another thing I truly appreciate about this book is its courage in addressing "sexuality" —a topic many Christians tend to avoid. It was refreshing to see it handled with grace, wisdom, and honesty. Shola and Tobi's story is a testament that Jesus is truly the answer to every question and challenge in life.
