Hunt Ryker vowed no Marine in his unit would ever be left behind, and that includes Marcus Zane who’s been missing for the better part of a year. As soon as Hunt recovers from his latest combat injury, he resumes his search for his missing comrade. He never imagined his search would land him in a temporary instructor position at an elite search and rescue training center.
Dallas Hill is tired of not being taken seriously as the lead dog handler in her local volunteer search and rescue unit. So what if she’s the rich and famous co-star in a blockbuster movie that’s still selling? To prove she’s truly retired from show biz, she applies for a slot at the prestigious Disaster City Search and Rescue Academy, determined to make a difference one missing child at a time.
When a shocking abduction rocks the town, Hunt finds himself fighting a sizzling attraction to Dallas in a race against the clock to bring a mystery child home in time for the holidays.
The Secret Baby Rescue by Jo Grafford is book 10 of Disaster City Search and Rescue. This has an ex-marine who was inured and an ex movie actress met once and then met again at the search and rescue academy. Adding a missing baby to this mix just heightens the story. It has romance, relationships, mystery plus K-9 so what is not to love. Jo Grafford writes a flowing story with details as well as a few surprises. Her characters are like meeting your next door neighbors. Jo Grafford does not disappoint. She is becoming one of my go to authors. I love series with K-9 and this series is becoming a favorite. I received an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.
This story was pretty good. I liked the clean plot with lots of action. The characters were likable. While it wasn’t inspirational, which is what I try to read most often, it was a book I might read again. The only thing I think could be a bit better was the pacing in a few areas. Especially toward the end, it felt rushed. If you enjoy clean, contemporary romance, you might like this book.
A damaged war hero. A movie star who isn't taken seriously. What's not to love??!! Another fabulous book in this series! I enjoy seeing how these men and women get trained to search and rescue the most vulnerable and in this case, it's a baby. Hunt has been seriously injured in Afghanistan and has been in the hospital for months. He's finally coming home and to his shock, receives the Purple Heart. He doesn't like this one bit! But, during the parade, he meets Dallas, a famous movie star and she orchestrates a sizzling kiss for the audience. He doesn't think he'll see her again but he's wrong! However, he's able to secure a position as an instructor at the Disaster City Search and Rescue center which gives him a purpose. Who does he see as one of the recruits but Dallas! She gave up Hollywood and became a police officer! I loved the chemistry between Hunt and Dallas. They were a great couple and even followed the rules of no dating during the session! The rescue of the baby was great!
The Secret Baby Rescue is a little different story than the other Disaster City Rescue books I have read by Jo Grafford. This one is showing behind the scenes of the training that the men and women go through to become search and rescue K-9 handlers. And not just the men and women but how they train a dog to become a K-9 hero. This particular story is following purple heart recipient Hunt Ryker that was forced to leave the Marines due to his injuries and has became the newest instructor at Disaster City. Two of the Marines in his life were considered dead but never found. One was his brother-in-law. He is on a mission to find them which causes trouble for the safety of their families. Hunter also finds out that one of his students is none other than the actress Dallas Hill that shared the hot kiss with him on his welcome home parade float they rode. He has never forgot that kiss and neither has she, but must keep it secret and distance themselves to stay at Disaster City. All they have to do is keep the secret till she graduates in 20 days, if that is possible.
The Secret Baby Rescue is a story about a marine who has struggled physically and emotionally and his journey coming home from war. The Secret Baby Rescue builds on characters from previous books in Texas Hotline series which gives the reader insight into their lives which is a nice bonus to Grafford’s series. Grafford’s descriptive writing is her superpower. She fills her stories with descriptions of her scenes, characters and moments, which also brings great romance in her relationships. She has a special ability to bring across understated conversations and narration that makes the reader smile and gives extra depth to her stories. I highly recommend this author and this series.
Loved Hunt and Dallas's story!! Hunt's a great guy, and Dallas is more than a pretty face. From the moment they meet, neither can forget the other. Hunt has to figure out where his life is going (he thinks) before he can even think about asking Dallas out. Dallas leaves her "glamorous" life behind to truly help people. When they meet again, they still aren't free to date, but boy can they flirt!! When they do finally get together, watch out!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
Hunt is an ex-Marine who is determined to find his friend Marcus and bring him home. Dallas is an ex-movie star who has gone through training as a police officer who wants to become a search and rescue officer. They end up together at the Disaster City Search and Rescue Academy; he , as an instructor;and she, as a trainee. They have to hide their attraction for each other until after graduation. The night before graduation, there is an Amber alert and they go to help find a missing baby. Would they find the baby in time? It's a very exciting story
The Secret Baby Rescue: A K9 Handler Romance (Disaster City Search and Rescue Book 10)
Dallas and Hunt meet unexpectedly when he comes home from the war with The Purple Heart Medal. His mother gets the whole town out to celebrate his homecoming. After an unforgettable kiss with Dallas Hunt doesn't see for over 8 months when she becomes one of his trainees. They have to keep their feelings for each professional. The story takes a very bizarre turn when a baby goes missing. To be continued.
Good, clean, swoony and uncomplicated. In the first book we learn about the ambush. Each book is one of the marines returning home. And all the emotions of bodies broken, some dear friends never to return, the mission incomplete, the feeling of being lost. looking forward to an overwhelming and uncertain future. She nails it. The guilt, the anger, the grief and the uncertainty. This is like a tv series where each book adds new characters and deepens the plot. Can’t wait for the next book.
Wow between reading this book and watching a baseball game between the Seattle Mariners and Houston Astros, I am wore out. You know when you want to really know for sure how the book is going to end? Well, this is me tonight. This book made me go hum. Between Hunt having a hard time not showing favoritism to Dallas during training; and Dallas trying to hold her love from Hunt while he was her instructor. Now you know why this was such a great book. Enjoy!!!!
This book identifies itself as a Christian romance. However, there's nothing about God or Christianity in it, so I don't understand why they are calling it a Christian romance. There was nothing about going to church, or living a Christian life, or hardly much for praying either. It was just nothing about Christianity in it. However, it was a very good clean romantic story that kept me riveted to it. If they didn't have "Christian romance" in the description, I would have actually given it a five star for a secular romance story.
Excellent characters! I was hooked from the beginning and crying joyful tears. I loved how the book started, it gave me goosebumps. It’s so fun to read about the intense training with the dogs and how close everyone becomes during this time. The search was a little of a mystery with action that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. A sweet clean romance that keeps you smiling! Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
'I want to be your plan today, tomorrow, and the next day'
This is my new favourite of the series! So many great characters in this book, I loved Hunt and Dallas but also PoPo, Haliburton, Sanchez, Tracey...this book focused far more on the team of recruits in training and it gave a new perspective but also added to the entertainment, the different personalities and the atmosphere within the book. A fantastic read on Kindle Unlimited.
The Secret Baby Rescue is a clean, heartwarming romance. This well written book is a ton of fun but also had some serious undertones. The characters include Hunt, a wounded Marine discharged before he was ready, Dallas an ex-actress, police officer and now disaster trainee, and PoPo a killer cocker spaniel! Once again an instructor cannot date a trainee, but when a real Amber Alert is in progress, both Hunt and Dallas rise to the challenge. I love this amazing romance.
I like the attitudes of each and every person that the author wrote. Some were very snarky and belligerent and others were just mild mannered. I think this is a book I will keep going back to and reference and I look forward to reading the next book. I like the sense of humor the author has in naming the dogs in the story. This book took a short time to read book but it's stays with you
I can see why Dallas would have a hard time getting others to take her seriously, gorgeous, smart and giving up a Hollywood life style. Hunt Ryker has been to hell and back recovering from injuries in Afghanistan plus he has a cocker spaniel named PoPo for a SAR dog. Jo Grafford puts more than a few surprises in this book. I can’t wait to hopefully get some answers in the next one.
A good, short story of 8 chapters. The author does nice, smooth time skips to cover the entire search & rescue course. The marine is missing his fellow marine & believes it's his responsibility to find him. At the end of class, an amber alert tones out. 3 students & the instructor join the search. Great story & great tease to his friends' story.
Enjoyed Dallas and Hunts story. Dallas a Hollywood Actress turns Police Woman and Search and Rescue Candidate. Hunt a War Hero turns Search and Rescue Instructor. I read this in 2 sittings. If you like clean stories with second chances, you will enjoy 'The Secret Baby Rescue'. I highly recommend. I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.
Another great book in this series of Disaster City Search and Rescue. This was about an ex army Sargent who becomes a search and rescue instructor at the famous search and rescue academy. These are all great books to read and very interesting as well. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
Hunt is recovering from an accident, he returns home to a hero's parade. He meets Dallas a Hollywood star who wants to be a cop. A few months later they meet again. Only he is her instructor so they can't start anything. Oh and this book has a mystery element to it. So good.
Loved this 2nd book in this series. Hunt is a medically discharged Marine working to create a new normal. Dallas is also working on a new phase of life. I loved how they met again and began working together. The romance was clean and sweet and the suspense was just right. Can’t wait to read the next in this series.
I enjoyed reading this story about a wounded Marine Corps veteran who became an instructor at a search and rescue school. One of the students is a former actress turned police woman. They had met previously when he returned home from the hospital and the town held a parade for him. They were on the same float.
Another tense tale about the Marines recovering from their wounds; forging a new career; and the people they call friends and family. Hunt Ryker is doing his best at training new recruits at Texas Hotline Training Center when he meets Dallas Hill. Together they fight back against crime.
He's a war hero turned Search and Rescue Instructor. She a police officer, Search and Rescue student and former actress. Their love has been nearly a year in the making. Can it survive a grueling training period? Super cast of characters, exciting storyline and heartwarming relationships. Enjoy!
I REALLY ENJOYED READING THIS BOOK! It is truly amazing what good work the rescue workers and their dogs do! I recommend this book to anyone who loves stories of rescue with a little romance thrown in for good measure!
I like all the books in this series but for some reason I really loved this one and can’t wait to see what all the mysteries surrounding these former military men is all about. All I can say is more please! ❤️
I'm totally enjoying this series and all the characters and their stories. I loved Hunt and Dallas's story. These two are perfect together. A captivating read that I read straight through. I can't wait to read the next book.
