They have unfinished business. She just can’t remember what it is.
Camille Vanderbilt is headed back home to Wyoming with one goal: find her old best friend and give him a piece of her mind for ghosting her six years ago. She won’t let anyone stand in her way… until a deer runs into the road and causes her to wreck and forget almost everything.
Noah Harding lives a simple life as a firefighter and rancher until Camille crashes back into his life. When a call at the fire station sends him to save his old best friend’s life, he thinks he might get a second chance until her influential stepdad gives a reminder that his old threats still stand.
When Camille runs into Noah in town, she knows he’s important to her, but her memories are still fuzzy.
Noah is hesitant to get close to her when it means having to sacrifice everything to be with her.
She thinks it’s a new beginning, but he knows it shouldn’t have ever ended.
When the threats are carried out, who will be left hurting at Blackwater Ranch?
Remembering the Cowboy is the first book in the Christian Blackwater Ranch series.
Mandi Blake was born and raised in Alabama where she lives with her husband and daughter, but her southern heart loves to travel. Reading has been her favorite hobby for as long as she can remember, but writing is her passion. She loves a good happily ever after in her sweet Christian romance books and loves to see her characters' relationships grow closer to God and each other.
Another Mandi Blake comfort read for MEEEEE! :) I loved Noah and Camille so much! So much sweet romance cheeseeeee I loved it.
We start off with Camille getting in a car accident and Noah being on the scene to help her. They have history as best friends to more growing up as teens but had a falling out....yet Camille can't remember much about their past after the accident. Camille's step father Nathan doesn't want them together because name, status and money mean more to him than anything and Noah being a farmer cowboy guy isn't enough for his daughter....so he threatens Noah to leave and he does....
Cut to 6 months later when Camille is trying to remember who the guy that helped her was and she sees Noah and recognizes him as her hero.... they start to re-connect and little by little memories start to return...the only problem? Her step-dad threatens Noah's family and all they have worked for...
I love the amnesia trope so much and this was very well done! I like how her memories came back little by little as her and Noah interacted. I also like how Noah didn't just come out and spill the beans on everything in the past and allowed her to see what she needed to see naturally.
The ending was sweet with some nice faith moments. I recommend this for a cute, feel good, sweet Christian romance when you need something that makes you smile like a good ol' hallmark movie.
It's no secret that Mandi Blake is one of my favorite authors. I'll read every book she publishes. I've loved every book so far and I think this cowboy series is going to be my new favorite. Noah & Camille's story had me thinking about them long after I finished reading it. It starts out with a bang and keeps you on your toes every turn of the page. Noah is a swoon-worthy cowboy (and firefighter) who is truly a great guy. Looking forward to reading more of the Harding brothers in this series!
This was my first time reading anything by Blake, and it won’t be my last!
I’ve been on an amnesia kick for *research* and a fellow reader put this one on my radar. I’m a softie for cowboy stories. And Wyoming. Even though I’ve never been, haha. 😅
Funny enough, this is the second book this month I’ve read with an MMC named Noah (which also throws me because, that’s the little bro’s name). But Noah & Camille are cute together. There’s a good bit of angst and a believable redemption arc for the villain.
I’m excited to hang out on the ranch for the rest of the series! 🥰 Definitely check it out if you enjoy contemporary Christian romance with ranching & cowboys!
It’s been a while since I finished a book as quickly as I did this one. When I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about reading it! This was my first book by Mandi Blake and I can’t wait to read more!
This was a really enjoyable read. Great tension to drive the story forward and a heart-warming romance. The world is well developed and I look forward to getting to know more of the characters throughout the series.
I’ve wanted to try this author for a bit, so when this book went on sale I snagged it with fingers crossed, hoping for the best. And it didn’t disappoint in being a sweet slightly forbidden/second chance romance that I enjoyed. It’s not much more then that but it never once pretends or claims to be and turned out to be the nice, light read I needed at the time.
I did get jarred out of the story a couple times due to some not-so-smooth transitions between the present and flashbacks and to a few of Noah’s reactions that had me going “would a guy even think this way?” or feeling it was unrealistic due to him being a trained EMT that honestly would make me worried to be his patient, lol.
I don’t think I’ll read anything else by this author just because it wasn’t exactly what I’d hoped it to be based on the description, but if you like sweet Christian romances I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her!
‼️Content‼️
Violence: a car hits a deer then a truck (not detailed); injuries and blood (not detailed); a bear claws a character’s leg (not detailed); a drunk man tries to pick a fight with a character (nothing happens)
Camille Vanderbilt and Noah Harding had been best friends for years but as seniors in high school, they finally realized there was more to their relationship than just friendship. But, Camille's stepdad was determined that she deserved someone better than a cowboy rancher so he stepped in and made Noah step back. Six years later, Camille is returning to town determined to find Noah and make him tell her why he ended things.
I won't give away any more of the story but there is a lot of romance, intrigue, healing and finally forgiveness. You could really "feel" the emotions of both Noah and Camille as they faced daunting challenges to their relationship.
I love how this author is able to project the emotions where you feel you are experiencing them yourself and tell a story that is full of love. She is a Christian author so the stories are clean and more wholesome but not preachy. They are always wonderful stories with a happy ending but not always an easy path to get there.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
What a sweet beginning to this series! Lol leave it to me that I started with the last book first! So now I have listened to the first one and it is a really great story! Blackwater Ranch is the place that a lot of the characters from this book live and make their living. This book introduces us to Noah, a firefighter, a volunteer at a second hand store and of course he also works at the ranch. The wealthy family that lives in Blackwater is a name we all know, The Vanderbilt 's. Camille is the only daughter of the Vanderbilt 's. Camille is a real sweetheart and you will enjoy getting to meet her and her mom Bonnie, they both bubble with joy. The Harding family is very close and what affects one affects them all. This is a story that was brought to life by another great author that I have read and listened to , Lorana Hoopes. If you enjoy sweet Christian romance with some angst and great family values you will enjoy this book!I I received a free download of this book from the publisher to listen to on Bookfunnel. This review is my own honest opinion.
Camille and Noah finally have a second chance to figure things out. Families can be supportive or controlling or somewhere in between. Can Noah and Millie work around their family dynamics and build a relationship? Remembering the Cowboy is well written and the characters are relatable. I didn’t want to put it down.
UHM that was CUTE. Yea the covers are cheesy and so are the titles of these books but…I’m gonna read the next book of this wholesome series. Each brother on the ranch has to find love…5 books ahead. LOL.
Why did I ever take so long to read a Mandi Blake book? I loved it. It was only 200-ish pages, and it honestly felt like it was longer. The characters were great, and I can already tell I'm going to fall in love with this whole family. (I'm a sucker for big families... what can I say?😄) I'm excited to continue with the series!
Starting off, I was a little unsure, just because 1. I don't normally like the amnesia trope, and 2. I'd like to say that the romance – or rather, the relationship between the main characters was the main plot. Which generally makes me nervous, since it almost always means that it’s going to center on the romance content. Almost always making it a bit much for me. And though there was a good amount, it never felt overwhelming, and it was never too much!(aka I didn’t have to cover an eye while I skimmed the page🤣)
The faith content was also great. I loved how both main characters had faith, rather than only one having a good, strong faith and the other trying to either regain that faith or is being introduced to it. Now, I will say the plot was pretty predictable haha..! But regardless, all in all, I enjoyed it and I'm excited to continue.!
Some parts were emotional, some were hard if you are an animal lover (cattle were involved), and there were parts where so certain older man should not manipulate who their child’s heart beats for. I would have liked to read Noah popping the question to Camille at the end but their short just cut off, since the very last chapter is from Lucas (Noah’s little brother) POV. So I can’t even say in my opinion it’s not even a HFN! Told in Camille and Noah’s POVs.
Beautiful story - Audiobook Review 🎧 Camille was heading back to Wyoming to see Noah when she was in an accident and lost her memory. I loved how Noah romanced Camille to get her to fall back in love with him. Of course, things weren't easy with Camille's stepdad. I love Noah and Camille and their romance is very sweet. I also enjoyed the characters in the story. Lorana did a great job with the narration. Looking forward to listen to more books in the series.
I feel like I need to go out to Wyoming now. This is my first read by the author I had no clue what to expect. I loved how they all relied on their faith. This truly was a beautiful story. I also enjoyed how family was a focal point. This pair was meant to be and it was quite obvious. Love endures and conquers all.
I loved this second chance cowboy romance. Noah and Camille couldn’t be more perfect for each other and no matter what or how outside forces try keeping them apart; true love is unstoppable.
Mandi Blake has quickly become one of my all time favorite authors, and I couldn't wait to see how she was going to tackle a cowboy romance. After finishing it, I can definitely say that anyone who chooses to pick this one up is going to be in for a sweet treat, and is going to be on the edge of their seat waiting for the next installment in the series.
I appreciate the fact that anytime I pick up a story by this talented lady that I can guarantee the characters are going to feel like old friends in no time at all. Camille and Noah are both characters I came to truly care about, and I found myself completely invested in their roller coaster romance that had to overcome its fair share of obstacles. Camille and Noah both show such maturity in all the events that unfold, and it was refreshing to see a couple that both acknowledged the mistakes they've made, instead of constantly playing the blame game. Often in romance novels, the timeline of a relationship doesn't seem believable, and I appreciated that this wasn't the case in Remembering the Cowboy. The romance was refreshing and authentic, and Noah and Camille's relationship never seemed to be rushed or unbelievable, even when taking her memory loss into account.
The faith content is at the front and center of this entire story, and the messages of forgiveness, redemption, and healing all focus around it. Camille and Noah know the importance of following His plan no matter which way it leads, and neither ever shy away from this no matter the outcome. Remembering the Cowboy is chocked full of secondary characters that I also found myself enjoying, and in particular, I loved Jenny, Lucas, Bonnie and Anita, and I'm looking forward to reading more about them in books to come. I also have to mention how much I loved the setting of Blackwater Ranch, and with how richly and picturesquely it's described throughout the story, it kind of felt like a character in its own right.
If you've never read a Mandi Blake book before, then you need to rectify that immediately, and Remembering the Cowboy is the perfect choice to start with. Considering that four other Harding brothers and one cousin are introduced in this one, I have a feeling there's going to be a lot more releases in this series, and you are definitely not going to want to miss out on them. I absolutely adored this beautifully written, clean romance, and I will be anxiously awaiting book two in the Blackwater Ranch series.
Final Rating: 5/5.
I can't possibly recommend this one enough, especially if you're a fan of clean, heartwarming romances that stress the importance of keeping the faith and following His ultimate plan, even when it seems next to impossible to do so.
Thanks so much to Mandi Blake for allowing me to advance read this!
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary advance reader copy of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The emotional rollercoaster starts on the first page. We are introduced to a mystery. What happened? Did he disappear? Why did he ghost her? On her trip home for the holidays, Camille was determined to find him and get some answers. As she is on her way home she ended up in a car crash that takes her memory. Fortunately for her, the EMT who comes to the crash site is none other than the very man she is looking for. Still in love with her, he panics, but his training keeps him steady as they rush her to the hospital. At the hospital we meet more members of her family and come to realize that her stepfather is the one who has kept Camille and Noah apart. As Camille settles back into a life with only bits and pieces of her memory, she decides to stay in town where her family could support her. That also means she runs into Noah, the very person she can't keep out of her mind. He has hope that some things from their past can be forgotten and moved past, but he still remembers it all, even what broke them apart before. However, now that Camille is back, he never wants to let her go again. So, he starts trying to build a new relationship with her, helping her to try to remember, while trying to avoid losing everything he loves and cares about.
I loved the book. Seeing the love between the characters from the very beginning to the very end warmed my heart. They were able to overcome obstacles that most people would let split them apart. Through it all the only person they wanted by their side was each other. Their journey was truly beautiful and well written. I felt like I was there, seeing this love story unfold right before me. I watched as these characters rediscovered each other, forgave things that happened in their past, and learned to trust and rely on God and His timing. Redemption, forgiveness, rediscovery, love, faith... This book had it all and I enjoyed every minute of it. There are so many characters in this book that I care deeply for, I hope some of their stories will be written in the next books in this series.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a sweet, clean romance. This is one of the best books I have ever read.
I received an ARC for free to review. All of the opinions expressed above are my own.
This is a heartwarming tale of two friends finding their way back to each other after several obstacles have kept them apart. Having lived in Wyoming, I loved how Mandi incorporated the kindness and strong work ethic that are common characteristics of the people of this state into her characters. As Camille slowly recovers from a brain injury, she has the opportunity to view her life from a different perspective which leads her to reevaluate and change her previous course. Through the challenge of amnesia, she is drawn to Noah, whom she discovers was her best friend but now tries to keep his distance from her despite loving her. As Camille and Noah’s relationship grows and strengthens, they learn to fight for what is worth protecting: friendship, family, and love. I am looking forward to reading subsequent books in this series.
Camille/Millie, and Noah were childhood friends until they weren't, Camille never knew why. Nathan, her stepfather, threatened Noah and all his family if he didn't leave her alone. Noah complied as Nathan was very wealthy with lots of clout. Years later Camille has come home, on the way there she has a very bad accident and loses part of her memory. Noah is a firefighter and EMT, he's at the accident and keeps telling her to stay strong and not to leave him. They meet up and she remains in town as her memory gradually returns. But can they get together or will Nathan stop them again? Is Camille strong enough to stand on her own two feet?
Noah and Camille’s story was so wonderful! I’m giving this five stars because overall I found the story very uplifting and had deep faith woven throughout. When I read a Christian book I want to read about faith and how The Lord can change people and help them grow. There was romantic tension but it wasn’t convoluted by smut, there was a second chance romance, friendship, farm life, small town atmosphere and good familial relationships as well as some not so good ones. I love Mandi’s writing style and I can’t wait to continue the series!
This was a great start to a new series. Noah and Camille are kept apart by their social differences and outside forces. I would have been so scared to be in that car accident, lose my memories, and deal other health issues afterwards like Camille did. Noah was brave to approach her again after all her stepfather's threats. This was a clean Christian second chance romance with an underlying theme of redemption. I'm looking forward to reading about his brothers finding love.
Loved this sweet romance with Camille and Noah who grew up together and as they grew older became sweethearts until her father warned him away. Noah is a rancher/firefighter and he did not think he was good enough for her and now years later she wants answers as to why he broke ties with her. This is a well written sweet romance with great characters that pulls you in and keeps you intrigued until the end.
When does love’s actions become control and abuse? In this case, it is perpetrated by Camille’s stepfather and shown by his opposition to Noah as a partner for her. In this day of abuse of power, I found this story to be realistic and heart breaking. So many years wasted by Nathan’s interference. In addition to the good story line, Mandi Blake’s story also had interesting characters, humor and romance. I look forward to the rest of the series.
This is an amazing start to what looks like a great series (hopefully with all 5 Harding brothers AND Hunter!).
I love how Camille's situation was handled. There was no quick fix. Just patience. (I wish there was just a bit more screen time with Nathan. It's hard for me to believe in his redemption when we only see him as the bad guy.)
I need more. More Noah and Camille. I could feel every emotion from them. And I just need more of their story!!!
A sweet cowboy romance! This was a light, easy read with a unique plot. Camille was determined to track down Noah, the man who had broken her heart and then ghosted her, but an accident causes her to lose her memory. When Camille and Noah finally reconnect, however, there is more keeping them apart than her lost memory.
This was a heartwarming tale with themes of forgiveness and redemption. Would have loved to see a bit more of Nathan's journey so it didn't seem quite so sudden, but I loved the idea that everyone deserves a second chance.
I thoroughly enjoyed the relationship between Noah and Camille - I love it when best friends fall in love. Excited to read the rest of the series.
I received a complimentary copy but my opinion is my own.
