Rate this book
They say that beauty is only skin deep.

Which is all it takes for a good poison to work its charms…

After Rosie Casket inherits an old inn, she drains all her money to keep it afloat. Worried that she’ll go bankrupt before she gets her first guest, she begs the universe to send her customers.

Unfortunately, the young guest who arrives is not the relief that Rosie hoped for. In the young woman’s dying grasp, is the first page of an elaborate puzzle, one tailor-made for Rosie.

And the woman’s lips are a shocking shade of red—even in death.

To make matters worse, there’s a new man-eater in town, a powerful woman who has ensnared Trooper Matt Mettle in her deceitful web, a woman who leaves Rosie wondering if she and Mettle have any kind of future together.

Desperate to keep the town from branding her fledgling business as a murder house and forced to work alone, can Rosie get to the bottom of the red lipstick before she loses everything?

Or will more single women end up on the autopsy table?

I write wild cozy mysteries with lots of twists and quirky characters. In real life, I’m just a lowly public school teacher, but some of my best friends are medical examiners, high-ranking military officials, intelligence officers, and comedians (not necessarily in that order ;) Put together, their expertise helps me write pulse-pounding mysteries with humor and authenticity.

More danger in Maine

The story continues with Rosie. If you are thinking that things ended and she was going to have a happy ever after once escaping the cave, think again. I love that her and Stanley have become close as well as her foster father. I kind of was disappointed that either didn't wait longer for her before Bella came along but glad to see he is still willing to drop everything for her. I love this story and hope more books are added than the 3 now. The writer's style is wonderful and I will be checking out other books by her.

Fantastic new writer. If you are into cozy mysteries and have not tried this writer you must. Scenery is great and mis mash characters are fun.

Partially redeemed in the end

The main character seemed super sour for over the first half of the book, I don't buy into any sort of good relationship between red and Matt.. I'm inclined to read another in case it builds, but to my mind, some of the things he said are never redeemable
